Development and management of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome in spontaneous singleton pregnancy

    Get PDF
Ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS) is one of the most life-threatening complications of ovulation induction. However, rarely, OHSS can develop spontaneously during pregnancy without induction of ovulation. It has been shown in the literature that some diseases such as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), hypothyroidism, and pituitary adenoma may accompany spontaneous OHSS. Spontaneous OHSS should be included in the differential diagnosis in first-trimester pregnancies with nausea, vomiting, and acute abdomen. The focus should be on preventing possible complications and initiating early treatment immediately after diagnosis

Evaluation of The Factors Affecting the Benefiting Level from The Young Farmers Project Support in TR 71 Region of Turkey

In Turkey, various agricultural support policies were applied some time to increase the production, sometimes to reduce the over-production and to compensate the production. However, these policies have not been fully attained since they have been implemented without first solving the major structural problems of agriculture. Parallel to developments in the world's countries, entrepreneurship needs to be embraced by the young population and young entrepreneurs must be supported. Turkey attaches great importance to the supports in recent years regarding the determination of entrepreneurial individuals, and the promotion of entrepreneurship. For this purpose, in order to support young people in the agriculture sector, "Young Farmer Projects Support (YFPS)" was added to the "National Agricultural Project" in 2016. This support policy aims to encourage young farmers to stay in agriculture by supporting young farmers and to prevent migration from the village to the city. In this context, a survey has been carried out in the TR 71 Region of Turkey (Aksaray, Kırıkkale, Kırşehir, Nevsehir and Nigde provinces), and a total of 248 young farmers (139 supported, and 109 non-supported) were interviewed. The logit model was used in the analysis of the data. According to Logit model results, the factors such as gender, marital status, farming situation of young farmer, farming situation of young farmer’s family, residence population, social security status, agricultural education certificate status and ownership of property which are influencing on individuals benefiting from young farmer support were found statistically significant

Investigations of Effects of Density and Viscosity of Diesel and Biodiesel Fuels on NOx and other Emission Formations

In the present study, effects of fuel properties; such as viscosity and density of different biodiesels on engine exhaust emissions were investigated. Sunflower, corn and canola oils were used as raw materials of biodiesel fuels which were produced via transesterification method. In experiments, pure biodiesels were used as test fuels and diesel was used as reference fuel. The results indicated that viscosity and density of biodiesel fuels went up with a higher proportion of biodiesel. Engine experiments, which were conducted on a Mitsubishi Canter 4D34-2A, four-stroke, four-cylinder diesel engine indicated that carbon monoxide (CO) emission reduced with the utilization of fuels that have higher viscosity and density. On the other hand, carbon dioxide (CO2) and nitrogen oxide (NOx) emission had opposite trend. Both emission values were increased with higher biodiesel ratios

Klatskin tümörünün ayırıcı tanısında akla gelmeli: Alveolar ekinokokkoz

Alveolar echinococcosis is an infectious disease caused by Echinococcus multilocularis and it is frequently diagnosed as a space-occupying lesion in the liver. The growth pattern may be similar to that of a malignant tumour with extensive liver infiltration, spreading into neighbouring organs and forming metastasis-like masses in distant organs. Thus, it is one of the differential diagnoses of liver cancer. We report a case that presented as a klatskin tumour clinically and radiologically, but was revealed by pathologic and serologic work-up. Since the courses of these two diseases, a malignancy and an infectious disease, are far beyond comparison, echinococcosis should always be considered in differential diagnosis of obstructive jaundice, especially in the endemic regions.

Abstract.: The aim of the study is to examine the effects of menstrual cycle phases (MCP) on balance and postural control. The study was carried out with 63 volunteer women. Digital ovulation kits and, a Menstrual Cycle Regularity Questionnaire (MCRQ) to detect menstrual cycle regularity and duration, Premenstrual Syndrome Questionnaire (PMSQ) to question the presence of premenstrual syndrome, Menstruation Attitude Questionnaire (MAQ) to assess menstrual attitudes, International Physical Activity Questionnaire Short Form (IPAQ-SF) to question physical activity level was used. Balance and postural oscillation were evaluated with Balance Master balance and performance test device and Tekscan MatScan™ Pressure Mat System, respectively. All evaluations were repeated twice, in the preovulatory period and the postovulatory period. When the evaluations of the preovulatory period and the postovulatory period were compared, there was %3 increase in the percent weight-bearing of the non-dominant extremity (p = 0.01) and %2.5 decrease in the percent weight-bearing of the dominant limb in the postovulatory period (p = 0.01). %8 increase in functional reach distances was detected in the postovulatory period (p < 0.01). It was determined that there was %7.4 decrease in the oscillation rate of the center of gravity in the static stance with eyes open and %9 decrease in the static stance with eyes closed in the postovulatory period (p = 0.35, p = 0.18, respectively). It has been determined that the balance and postural control of young women are negatively affected in the preovulatory period and the function improved from the preovulatory period to the postovulatory period
