The prevalence of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) has dramatically increased globally during recent decades. Intake of n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs), mainly eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA, C20:5n-3) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA, C22:6n-3), is believed to be beneficial to the development of NAFLD. However, little information is available with regard to the effect of flaxseed oil rich in α-linolenic acid (ALA, C18:3n-3), a plant-derived n-3 PUFA, in improving NAFLD. This study was to gain the effect of flaxseed oil on NAFLD and further investigate the underlying mechanisms. Apolipoprotein-E knockout (apoE-KO) mice were given a normal chow diet, a western-type high-fat and high-cholesterol diet (WTD), or a WTD diet containing 10% flaxseed oil (WTD + FO) for 12 weeks. Our data showed that consumption of flaxseed oil significantly improved WTD-induced NAFLD, as well as ameliorated impaired lipid homeostasis, attenuated oxidative stress, and inhibited inflammation. These data were associated with the modification effects on expression levels of genes involved in de novo fat synthesis (SREBP-1c, ACC), triacylglycerol catabolism (PPARα, CPT1A, and ACOX1), inflammation (NF-κB, IL-6, TNF-α, and MCP-1), and oxidative stress (ROS, MDA, GSH, and SOD)

Interval Type-2 Fuzzy Programming Method for Risky Multicriteria Decision-Making with Heterogeneous Relationship

We propose a new interval type-2 fuzzy (IT2F) programming method for risky multicriteria decision-making (MCDM) problems with IT2F truth degrees, where the criteria exhibit a heterogeneous relationship and decision-makers behave according to bounded rationality. First, we develop a technique to calculate the Banzhaf-based overall perceived utility values of alternatives based on 2-additive fuzzy measures and regret theory. Subsequently, considering pairwise comparisons of alternatives with IT2F truth degrees, we define the Banzhaf-based IT2F risky consistency index (BIT2FRCI) and the Banzhaf-based IT2F risky inconsistency index (BIT2FRII). Next, to identify the optimal weights, an IT2F programming model is established based on the concept that BIT2FRII must be minimized and must not exceed the BIT2FRCI using a fixed IT2F set. Furthermore, we design an effective algorithm using an external archive-based constrained state transition algorithm to solve the established model. Accordingly, the ranking order of alternatives is derived using the Banzhaf-based overall perceived utility values. Experimental studies pertaining to investment selection problems demonstrate the state-of-the-art performance of the proposed method, that is, its strong capability in addressing risky MCDM problems

A Novel Coordination Scheme of Transaction Scheduling in Multi-Level Power Market

With power system deregulation undergoing worldwide, it\u27s urgent for China to establish multi-level power market in large interconnected power system to better configure energy resources and gain greater economic benefit of power exchanges. But it\u27s not clear how to maintain network security in such environment. This paper therefore suggests a coordination information based security coordination scheme under which the upper-level and lower-level power market can cooperate smoothly for the system security and potential power exchanges among lower-level markets can be greatly boosted. The method of obtaining the coordination information for lower-level market and the transaction scheduling model for upper-level market are also discussed. The suggested scheme is tested on IEEE 30 bus system and proved to be feasible. Numeric results show that the scheme and related algorithms proposed in this paper can make great economic benefit which is near to the ideal results

Transaction Scheduling Considering Transmission Network Constrains in Regional Electricity Market

East China Regional Electricity Market, the first regional electricity market in China, will adopt the structure of Broker spot market combined with bilateral contracts. The conventional transactions scheduling method of using Broker-matching algorithm cannot obtain optimal economic benefit with considering network constraints. This paper proposes a new transaction scheduling method of considering network constraints directly. With introducing the generation contribution factor and load-extracting factor, the problem of coordination of multi-level electricity market is solved. In consideration of the characteristic of bilateral transaction, a mathematical model is established for transaction scheduling in Broker trading system of regional electricity market with transaction matrix as a mathematical representation. The results of the test on IEEE 30 bus system show that the model corresponds with the features of Broker trading mode without considering network constraints, and can obtain optimal economic benefit with considering network constraints. The effectiveness of the method is proved

Impact of vegetation restoration on ecosystem services in the Loess plateau, a case study in the Jinghe Watershed, China

Assessing ecosystem services (ESs) is vital for the environment development. This study explored the variation characteristics of ESs under the restoring vegetation since the Grain for Green Project (GFGP) in Jinghe Watershed, which is a typical watershed experiencing severe soil erosion in the Loess Plateau of China. Herein, the fractional vegetation cover (FVC) is selected as an indicator of the changes in vegetation restoration from 2000 to 2020. Simulations of ESs are based on the Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT), Carnegie Ames -Stanford Approach (CASA) model, Integrated Valuation of Ecosystem Services and Tradeoffs (InVEST). This paper analyzed the spatiotemporal heterogeneity in vegetation coverage and the response of vegetation coverage to ESs in the Jinghe Watershed with Mann-Kendall test, Pearson correlation coeffificient R and the gray relational analysis (GRA). The results showed that: (1) Since the implementation of the GFGP, the area of forests and grassland has increased significantly. The proportion of vegetation restoration area was 95.15 %; (2) At the whole watershed scale, vegetation restoration and soil conservation (SC), water yied (WY), net primary pro-duction (NPP) and habitat quality (HQ) were synergistic relationships, while focusing on the sub-watershed scale, vegetation restoration and SC and HQ were transformed into trade-off relationships in some sub -watershed. (3) Vegetation restoration in the Jinghe Watershed had positive effects on SC, WY, NPP, and HQ. The order of relevance with vegetation restoration was: SC > HQ > NPP > WY, indicating that vegetation restoration in the Jinghe Watershed has the highest closeness to SC. This study showed that since the imple-mentation of the GFGP, vegetation coverage in the Jinghe Watershed has significantly restored, which has promoted the improvement of ESs
