Careers in international/Asia Pacific business: Perspectives of an experienced Japan hand
"I have been asked to lead a discussion today about careers in international business. There
is a Japanese proverb that says, "Rongo yomi no rongo shirazu." Just because you read Confucius
does not necessarily mean you understand what he says. Just because I have worked and studied in
Asia the past 25 years does not mean I understand everything about Asia. In fact, I spend more time
studying about Asia today than when I first moved to Tokyo in 1973.
A Roadside Technique Using Scent Lures for Measuring Relative White-Tailed Deer Abundance
The response of captive white-tailed deer (Odocoileus virginianus) to selected commercial scent lures and the feasibility of measuring the relative abundance of wild deer with roadside scent stations were studied. Penned deer first smelled scented capsules 5.7 times more frequently than unscented controls. There was no significant difference among 5 scents tested as to whether they were smelled or not, in the amount of time deer spend smelling them, nor any preference for sex- or food-derived scents. In a high deer density area the visitation rate to scented stations was 149 and unscented was 95. In a low deer density area it averaged only 6. Though construction of roadside stations was somewhat time-consuming, the technique proved potentially valuable for providing an index of relative deer abundance because it was simple, required a minimum of equipment, tracks were easily identified, and were comparable to aerial surveys in costs and results

Transitioning Residents Out of Public Housing
This dissertation examined the transition low-income residents out of federally subsidized housing. Housing programs are important because they provide decent, safe, and sanitary housing to millions of individuals who are economically disadvantaged. In some research, it has been determined that people from public housing experience difficulties in gaining access to resources that would enable them to transition out of public housing successfully. This becomes an added hurdle faced by those who desires to transition out of public housing. Understanding their experiences, their feelings, and their belief system provides a level of education into why it becomes difficult for individuals to move in the direction of homeownership after living in public housing. It’s not a typical thought process or rationale that is use once an individual has lived in public housing. Another factor to consider is what they saw, heard, and endured during that time. Those things culminated into a process of motivation and desire to move out of public housing. As cognition changes, the understanding of what is needed to initiate the process becomes clearer. No longer does finance become a significant barrier. Faith becomes the destroyer of all obstacles, and a different form of support emerges that allows the achievement of homeownership to become possible
A survey of the adult trematodes from fishes of the Pacific Marine Station area
An effort is here made to assemble all of our knowledge of all adult trematodes which have been found in the fishes of the Pacific Marine Station Area. This includes publications, unpublished material such as graduate theses, and specimens herein described for the first time. It is hoped that this endeavor will facilitate further investigation in trematodology and that this paper will be an aid in identification of trematodes subsequently discovered
