    Spherical solutions of the Schr\"odinger-Poisson system with core-tail structure

    We construct spherically symmetric equilibrium solutions of the Schr\"odinger-Poisson (SP) system of equations with a core-tail structure that could serve as models of Fuzzy Dark Matter (FDM) halos. The core is assumed to be a solitonic ground state equilibrium configuration of the SP equations, and the tail is integrated from a transition radius onwards. The total mass of the system parametrizes the family of solutions and constrains the tail density profile. The tail has a radial velocity profile, whereas the core is stationary. We investigate the evolution of these equilibrium configurations and find that the tail initially perturbs the core, and consequently, the whole solution oscillates around a virialized solution that we call 'relaxed', whose average also has a core-tail structure. We measure the departure of the relaxed configuration from the equilibrium solution in order to estimate the utility of the latter. We also find that the core-halo scaling relation of equilibrium configurations has an exponent α=1/3\alpha=1/3, whereas relaxed configurations exhibit a scaling with α=0.54\alpha=0.54.Comment: 10 pages, 10 figures.     Stationary solutions of the Schr\"odinger-Poisson-Euler system and their stability

    We present the construction of stationary boson-fermion spherically symmetric configurations governed by Newtonian gravity. Bosons are described in the Gross-Pitaevskii regime and fermions are assumed to obey Euler equations for an inviscid fluid with polytropic equation of state. The two components are coupled through the gravitational potential. The families of solutions are parametrized by the central value of the wave function describing the bosons and the central denisty of the fluid. We explore the stability of the solutions using numerical evolutions that solve the time dependent Schr\"odinger-Euler-Poisson system, using the truncation error of the numerical methods as the perturbation. We find that all configurations are stable as long as the polytropic equation of state (EoS) is enforced during the evolution. When the configurations are evolved using the ideal gas EoS they all are unstable that decay into a sort of twin solutions that approach a nearly stationary configuration. We expect these solutions and their evolution serve to test numerical codes that are currently being used in the study of Fuzzy Dark Matter plus baryons.Comment: 7 pages, accepted in Phys. Lett.

    Influence of process parameters on the corrosion resistance of corrugated austenitic and duplex stainless steels

    The main objective of this work is to study the influence of the forming process on two corrugated, lean, duplex stainless steels (DSSs): UNS S32001 and UNS S32304. Both grades have been recently proposed as alternative materials to the austenitic UNS S30403 grade for manufacturing reinforcement bars to be embedded in concrete structures, exposed to corrosive environments. Hot-worked (HW) corrugated bars of both DSSs are analyzed and their corrosion behaviour is compared with that of the HW and cold-worked (CW) corrugated bars of S30403. The corrosion performance is characterized through cyclic polarization curves in 8 different solutions that simulate those contained inside the pores of concrete in different circumstances. The obtained results justify a great interest in the studied lean DSS grades with respect to their use as reinforcements. Moreover, it is proved that the corrugated surface of a bar is clearly less corrosion resistant than the centre of the bar. The processing method of producing reinforcements influences not only the pitting susceptibility but also the pitting morphology.Publicad

    Use of Multiple Astrocytic Configurations within an Artificial Neuro-Astrocytic Network

    [Abstract] The artificial neural networks used in a multitude of fields are achieving good results. However, these systems are inspired in the vision of classical neuroscience where neurons are the only elements that process information in the brain. Advances in neuroscience have shown that there is a type of glial cell called astrocytes that collaborate with neurons to process information. In this work, a connectionist system formed by neurons and artificial astrocytes is presented. The astrocytes can have different configurations to achieve a biologically more realistic behaviour.     Welded, sandblasted, stainless steel corrugated bars in non-carbonated and carbonated mortars: A 9-year corrosion study

    Three different stainless steel corrugated grades (UNS S20430, S30403 and S32205) were similar welded to stainless steel bars with the same composition and dissimilar welded to carbon steel (CS). After cleaning the welding oxides by sandblasting, the reinforcements were embedded in mortar with chlorides and some of the samples were carbonated. Corrosion activity was monitored using corrosion potential (Ecorr) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). After 8 years of exposure, the samples were anodically polarized. Visual evaluation of the attack was performed after another additional year of exposure. Similar welded stainless steels offer a good durability if they have been sandblasted, except for S20430 when it is embedded in carbonated mortar with chlorides. Dissimilar welded steels are active since the beginning of the exposure for both studied conditions, but sandblasting reduces the corrosion rate of CS compared to non-welded CS bars.The present work was funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation through the Project reference BIA2007-66491-C02-02

    Corrugated stainless steels embedded in mortar for 9 years: corrosion results of non-carbonated, chloride-contaminated samples

    Mortar samples reinforced with 5 different corrugated stainless steels were tested for 9 years in 2 different conditions: partial immersion (PI) in 3.5% NaCl, and chloride addition to the mortar and exposure to high relative humidity (HRH). The monitoring during the exposures was carried out with corrosion potential (E-corr) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) measurements. A year before finishing (after 8 years of exposure), the reinforced mortar samples were anodically polarised to obtain more information about the pitting resistance of the passive layers formed under the different conditions. The last year of exposure was established to study the progress or repassivation of the pits. The PI is the most aggressive testing condition and it causes low-intensity corrosion in S20430 austenitic stainless steel after 7 years of exposure.     First Multiplatform Application for Pharmacies in Spain, Which Guides the Prescription of Probiotics According to Pathology

    [Abstract] The study of the intestinal microbiota is one of the biggest challenges in the current clinical environment. In this context, probiotics have been a focus of interest to achieve the stability of the intestinal microbiota, due to probiotics’ key role in its regulation. The development of an automated system that allows practitioners to easily search for the optimal probiotic is the main objective of this study. Although it is true that there have been previous attempts of applications with this purpose, only authorized probiotics available in the countries of origin, Canada and the USA, were included. This event was a limitation when looking for those endorsed in other countries such as Spain.
