La etnografía de Smita Yadav nos cuenta la historia de los Gond, una tribu indígena de la India que ha sido desplazada tras la creación de una reserva para tigres y cuyas familias se están ganando la vida en la economía informal, obviando la ayuda o la presencia del estado. La autora examina en detalle la historia oral y las instituciones sociales de los hogares Gond, poniéndolas en relación con las estrategias de subsistencia y las formas flexibles de trabajo que han surgido como respuesta a sus necesidades actuales.Smita Yadav's ethnography tells the story of the Gond, an indigenous group from India who have been displaced after the creation of a tiger reserve and have making a life in the informal economy, ignoring the support or the presence of the state. Revisitando a los clásicos en el vigésimo aniversario de Perifèria

El texto introductorio de esta sección especial se divide en dos partes. Por un lado, se exponen las motivaciones para proponer una revisita a los clásicos y se introducen los dos textos de la sección especial, llamada "Revisitando a los clásicos", conectando con la presentación de una nueva sección llamada "Reimpresión", la cual publicará textos clásicos o actuales de interés para la antropología pero que sean de difícil acceso. Por otro lado, se vincula esta revisita a los clásicos al vigésimo aniversario de la revista Perifèria, que poco a poco se va convirtiendo también en un clásico entre las revistas de antropología en los contextos español y catalán, sin olvidar su proyección Latinoamericana.The introductory text of this special section is divided into two parts. On the one hand, we elaborate on the proposal about revisiting the classics, introducing two texts of this special section called "Revisiting the classics", and connecting with the presentation of a new section called "Reprint", which is intended to publish classic or current texts of interest for anthropology but not easily accessible. On the other hand, this revisit to the classics is linked to the twentieth anniversary of Perifèria journal, which gradually is also becoming a classic among anthropology journals both in the Spanish and Catalan contexts, without forgetting its Latin American projection

L'humanitarisme remot : pràctiques humanitàries des de la "petita Alep"

La gestió remota de l'operació humanitària del nord de Síria des de Gaziantep (Turquia), situada a l'altre costat de la frontera on es troben les oficines de les organitzacions i ONGs, i la no divisió equitativa del treball, ha canviat les relacions i les dinàmiques del treball solidari. La intervenció s'ha traslladat a llocs més segurs, però ha posat en risc total als treballadors locals. Aquesta investigació analitza la gestió efectuada entre el 2015 i 2016 i dóna una idea sobre com pensem i com podem ajudar a persones llunyanes afectades per aquest context.La gestión remota de la operación humana del norte de Siria desde Gaziantep (Turquía), situada en el otro lado de la frontera donde están las oficinas de las organizaciones y ONG, ha cambiado las relaciones y las dinámicas del trabajo solidario. La intervención se ha trasladado a lugares más seguros, pero ha puesto en riesgo a los trabajadores locales. Esta investigación analiza la gestión humanitaria efectuada entre 2015 y 2016 y aporta ideas sobre cómo pensamos y cómo podemos ayudar a personas afectadas en este contexto.The remote management of humanitarian aid in northern Syria, conducted from the offices of the organisations and NGOS on the other side of the border in Gaziantep, Turkey, changed the relations and dynamics of this humanitarian work, forcing it to move to safer areas, but at the same time putting the lives of local workers at great risk. (Im)Mobilities and Informality as Livelihood Strategies in Transnational Social Fields : Supplementing the State for the Invisible and the Vulnerable

This chapter explores the relationship between (im)mobility and informality by analyzing how informal practices evolve when people migrate and move within transnational social fields. The livelihood perspective allows us to analyze informality and (im)mobility as strategies that individuals and households perform to make a living, including the role played by institutions. The chapter shows that transnational migrants learn how to navigate and exploit formal rules to get things done by adapting their informal practices to the new context following two parallel processes: informalization and formalization. On the one hand, adapting informality entails learning the unwritten rules and selecting, preserving, and adjusting some informal practices while abandoning others, primarily illegal, illicit, and harmful. On the other hand, the formalization process involves adopting the formal rules of the new context, especially those about the residence and work permits. Thus, transnational networks and geographical mobilities allow migrants to exploit the grey areas of various formal systems that come to contact in making a living

Introducción : antropología en Asturias

Este texto y la sección especial que introduce tienen un triple objetivo. Por una parte, se intenta describir qué se ha hecho desde la antropología social y cultural en Asturias, tanto a nivel de investigación como de organización formal. Por otro lado, trata de responder a qué se está investigando hoy en día en la región. Por último, se ambiciona conectar estas investigaciones antropológicas hechas en Asturias con la teoría antropológica más actual para contribuir a crear un horizonte de institucionalización y profesionalización de la disciplina en la región

El género inaprensible : análisis de la operación humanitaria transfronteriza en el norte de Siria

Este artículo analiza la inclusión del enfoque de género en la operación humanitaria en respuesta al conflicto en el norte de Siria y coordinada desde Turquía bajo el paraguas de Naciones Unidas. La investigación se enmarca en los estudios sobre género y acción humanitaria, además de enlazar con la vindicación de los derechos humanos de las mujeres iniciada por el feminismo. El texto concluye que no existe una comprensión estandarizada de este concepto entre el personal humanitario y la igualdad entre hombres y mujeres está ausente en la programación, a pesar de la existencia de un desarrollo teórico sobre género y acción humanitaria. Por el contrario, en esta operación impera el paradigma de la acción humanitaria como una herramienta para la asistencia a todas las víctimas del conflicto según su grado de vulnerabilidad y amparado en el principio de neutralidad, sin pretender por ello transformar las relaciones de género. El artículo expone, asimismo, las dificultades prácticas para aplicar un enfoque de género concebido como una herramienta estándar difícil de adaptar a las múltiples realidades sociales que el personal humanitario se encuentra en el terreno.This article analyzes the inclusion of the gender approach in the humanitarian operation carried out in response to the conflict in northern Syria that is coordinated from Turkey under the umbrella of the United Nations. The research is framed in the gender and humanitarian action studies and connected with the women's human rights claims initiated by the feminism. The text concludes that there is not a clear understanding of this concept among humanitarian personnel in addition to the fact that gender equality is absent in programming, despite the existence of a theoretical development on gender and humanitarian action. On the contrary, in this operation prevails the paradigm of humanitarian action as a tool for assistance to all victims according to their degree of vulnerability under the principle of neutrality, without seeking to transform gender relations. This article also exposes the practical difficulties to apply a gender-based approach devised as a standard tool that does not match with multiples realities faced by humanitarian workers in the field

Short Take : Sampling from Transnational Social Fields

Etnografías de la pandemia por coronavirus : emergencia empírica y resignificación social

Este texto presenta un número especial dedicado a etnografiar los primeros meses de la pandemia provocada por el virus SARS-CoV-2 y las consecuentes medidas de aislamiento y distancia social. Basados en materiales empíricos recogidos entre marzo y mayo del año 2020, los textos etnográficos muestran con viveza la enorme singularidad de este período. Este momento se ha querido designar como parón o pausa de la sociedad ante la amenaza de una salud pública colapsada y los múltiples efectos del confinamiento. Sin embargo, este número propone una mirada alternativa a este supuesto paréntesis de inmovilidad física y geográfica, analizando lo ocurrido desde la fuerte resignificación social que se ha producido en la vida diaria. Por tanto, defendemos que la vida social no se ha parado, al contrario, se ha acelerado moviéndose en direcciones imprevistas y resignificando espacios, tiempos y relaciones que pueden haber cambiado para siempre.This text introduces a special issue dedicated to compiling ethnographic accounts of the first months of the pandemic caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus and the consequent isolation and social distancing measures. Based on empirical materials collected between March and May of 2020, the ethnographic texts vividly show the uniqueness of this period. It has been portrayed as a hiatus or a pause in the flow of normal society given the threat to the collapsed public healthcare system and the multiple side effects of the lockdown. However, this issue proposes an alternative view of this supposed lull entailing physical and geographic immobility by analysing the events from the standpoint of the major social resignification of daily life that took place. Therefore, we contend that social life has not stopped; on the contrary, it has accelerated, moving in unforeseen directions and resignifying spaces, times and relationships that may have changed forever
