Five indices of thermal continentality were computed for 84 stations in Europe and shown in the maps. The thermal continentality in Europe is spatially variable and increases eastward and southward from the northwestern shores towards Asia. Continental features are distinct in the interior of the Iberian Peninsula and in the northeastern part of the Scandinavian Peninsula, despite their small distance from the Atlantic Ocean. Most continentality indices (Chromow’s, Ewert’s, Conrad’s, Johansson-Ringleb’s) reveal a similar spatial pattern of thermal continentality in Europe, and they allow the continent to be divided into a western and eastern part along meridian 20–25°E. Marsz’s index, which takes into consideration the level of oceanity, indicates a narrow zone along the northwestern shore as oceanic and the remaining part of Europe as continental.617118213Badania Fizjograficzn

In July 2011, measurements were taken of selected meteorological elements in the central part of the Łeba Sandbar in the Słowiński National Park. On the basis of the results of measurements performed at five points located on a salient land form in close proximity to the seashore, a thermal and humidity characteristics of this form were determined for a twenty-four hour period. The results of measurements obtained from an automatic weather station located in an open area, near the measurement points on the coastal sand dune, were used as information on the atmospheric conditions predominant in the standard area (flat area covered by grass). The research analysis was performed for the entire measurement period and for days with radiational weather. The authors also determined the dependence between air temperature and humidity values observed over the analysed land form and the values of weather elements measured over the standard area

WARUNKI SYNOPTYCZNE PODCZAS WYSTĘPOWANIA WYSOKICH KONCENTRACJI PM10 W POZNANIU W LATACH 2010–2017

The article presents examples of synoptic situations when the permissible concentration of PM10 was severely exceeded in 2010–2017 in Poznań. In many Polish cities, there are deviations from the norms for a number of days during the year. The scale of concentration of PM10 in the air is largely affected by the prevailing meteorological conditions such as low temperature and low wind speed. First, periods of the highest daily concentrations of pollutants were selected. Subsequently, synoptic maps for selected days were analysed. The most common cause of the pollution was a large boom which brought Arctic air to Poland. In this case, the highest concentration was accompanied by very low air temperatures and the resulting more intensive heating of buildings

The subject of the paper is the influence of atmospheric circulation on the content of suspended PM10 in the air in Konin. For this purpose dust concentrations from the period 2012–2016 were generally characterized. PM10 particulate matter concentration average hourly data were obtained from the Main Inspectorate of Environmental Protection website. Based on these data, long-term, seasonal and daily changes in the PM10 concentration in the atmosphere were investigated. The study analysed the daily variability of the PM10 suspended particulate matter concentration to present seasonal differences (in hot and cold seasons). In order to determine the influence of atmospheric circulation on the PM10 particulate matter concentration, the concentration levels data were compared with the types of circulation prevailing on the same day. In this study according to synoptic maps the days with maximum and minimum concentrations PM levels were analysed. It was found which type of meteorological circulation is conducive to higher levels concentrations of particulate matter PM10, and which has a positive effect on the quality of the air in Konin
