Regional conflicts in West and Central Europe, in the second half of the 1930s symbolized the collapse of the Versailles system, olarizing the situation and affecting the balance of power on the continent. All of them had international aspects, including propaganda aspect. European regional conflicts (1936-1939) have become a convenient case for approbation of the "old" Nazi ideological postulates as well as for development of "new" one

In their study, the researchers has made an attempt to analyze such international aspects of the Spanish Civil War as the Mediterranean aspect. The researchers looks at it in the context of international relations on the base of the materials from the Archives of Foreign policy of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, published diplomacy documents of main European countrie

The purpose of the article is to reveal the nature of the reflection of the events of the Spanish Civil War of 1936-1939 in the British press. The most important factor shaping public opinion was the periodical press. The authors emphasize that events on the European continent, including local conflicts, significantly influenced the mindset of British society, combined with an acute party struggle on foreign policy issues. The practical component of the article is based on the analysis of about 20 titles of British Newspapers political orientation. The results of the study showed that the publications were divided on the issue of criticism or support for the Italian-German intervention in Spain as follows: sharp rejection - the Communist, labour and liberal press (violation of international norms, understanding of intervention as aggression); neutral or slightly negative attitude: part of the conservative press (mutual internationalization of the conflict)

The article examines the assessments given by the Russian Overseas’ press, in connection with the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War, 1936-1939. The main reasons related to the internal and international aspects of the events in Spain, the adequacy and depth of their coverage by the leading Russian political emigrant press of the main socio-political trends are analyzed in a comparative contex

Electronic structure of wurtzite and zinc-blende AlN

    Get PDF
The electronic structure of AlN in wurtzite and zinc-blende phases is studied experimentally and theoretically. By using x-ray emission spectroscopy, the Al 3p, Al 3s and N 2p spectral densities are obtained. The corresponding local and partial theoretical densities of states (DOS), as well as the total DOS and the band structure, are calculated by using the full potential linearized augmented plane wave method, within the framework of the density functional theory. There is a relatively good agreement between the experimental spectra and the theoretical DOS, showing a large hybridization of the valence states all along the valence band. The discrepancies between the experimental and theoretical DOS, appearing towards the high binding energies, are ascribed to an underestimation of the valence band width in the calculations. Differences between the wurtzite and zinc-blende phases are small and reflect the slight variations between the atomic arrangements of both phases

New insight into the low-energy 9^9He spectrum

    Get PDF
The spectrum of 9^9He was studied by means of the 8^8He(dd,pp)9^9He reaction at a lab energy of 25 MeV/n and small center of mass (c.m.) angles. Energy and angular correlations were obtained for the 9^9He decay products by complete kinematical reconstruction. The data do not show narrow states at \sim 1.3 and \sim 2.4 MeV reported before for 9^9He. The lowest resonant state of 9^9He is found at about 2 MeV with a width of \sim 2 MeV and is identified as 1/21/2^-. The observed angular correlation pattern is uniquely explained by the interference of the 1/21/2^- resonance with a virtual state 1/2+1/2^+ (limit on the scattering length is obtained as a>20a > -20 fm), and with the 5/2+5/2^+ resonance at energy 4.2\geq 4.2 MeV.Comment: 5 pages, 4 figures, 2 table
