One of the reasons of the crisis we are experiencing today is the dramatic reduction of the primary sector. However, in regions such as the prefecture of Drama, there is the possibility of developing and strengthening of the primary sector in the wine domain. This study presents the development of wine industry and its recent export activity. More specifically, it analyses the wine domain existing situation in the prefecture of Drama and the export activity from 2009 to 2015. There is a trend going around favoring extroversion in the Greek winemaking industry after the advent of the economic crisis in Greece in 2009. It also analyses the wine sector’s existing situation in global, national and regional level, especially in the prefecture of Drama. The survey highlights useful conclusions concerning the production, the consumption, the stocks, the imports and exports of wine and the obstacles encountered in the export activity. Moreover, the dynamics of Drama\u27 s winery and activity, including wine exports for the six years 2009-2015 both to the EU countries and with the third countries after the collection of secondary data, are presented and analyzed. Finally, it presents the export activity of prefecture of Drama in comparison to domestic/national export activity is also analyzed for the same period of time. Although the survey was conducted in a particular region, it draws useful conclusions which can be exploited for generalization in future work

The rising healthcare expenditures as percentage of GDP is a reality that all developed countries have to deal with. Epidemiologic standards have changed dramatically since the past. The rapid development of knowledge in the scientific field of medicine and the new state of the art medical technology has led to new treatments for various health problems. Prior fatal diseases have become chronic, and life expectancy has risen significantly, leading healthcare costs to explosion. Healthcare spending in Greece has been increased between 2000 and 2009 at a rapid rate of 6.1% per year, but it has dropped the following years, driven by a sharp reduction in public spending on health care as part of government-wide efforts to reduce the large budgetary deficit. This situation has caused an increasing offence sense in population. On the other hand, the last years, Greece has become an immigrant (legal and illegal) reception centre. This study presents comparative data about the consumed resources by Greek and foreign patients in the public hospitals of east Macedonia and Thrace for the years 2006-2010.peer-reviewe

FIRST, WE SUGGEST WAYS OFREPRESENTING OF DATA THAT ARE ELEMENTS OF A TABLE, AS WELL AS THE MOST APPROPRIATE MEASURE (METRIC OR INDEX OF DISTANCE OR INDEX OF SIMILARITY), IN ORDER TO MEASURE THE RELATION OF SIMILARITY BETWEEN TWO OBJECTS OR TWO VARIABLES. THEN WE SUGGEST A CRITERION WHICH WILL HELP US CHOOSE THE MOST APPROPRIATE METRIC BETWEEN CLASSES OF OBJECTS, WHICH IS BASED ON THE RATIO OF THE INTERPRETATIVE DISPERSION OF A PARTITION TO THE INITIAL (TOTAL) DISPERSION. THESUGGESTED CRITERION WILL ALSO HELP US TO CHOOSE THE BEST ADJUSTED PARTITION TO THE DATA, AS WELL AS THE BEST PARTITION FOR DEFINED MULTITUDE CLASSES. HAVING CHOSEN THE BEST PARTITION OF DATA, WE SUGGEST A WAY TO DETERMINE THE VARIABLES THAT CONTRIBUTE IN THE CREATION OF CLASSES, THE EXPLANATION OF THESE CLASSES AS WELL AS THOSE VARIABLES THAT CONTRIBUTE IN THE SEPARATION OF CLASSES AND EXPLAIN THE BASIC DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THEM. AFTER THAT, WE DESCRIBE THE IMPLICATION CLASSIFICATION BY WHICH WE CAN IDENTIFY THE CONNECTION OF IMPLICATION IN A SET OF VARIABLES, AND THE SYMBOLIC CLASSIFICATION WHICH IS USED FOR "SYMBOLIC" OBJECTS, SUGGESTING A NEW MEASURE OF SIMILARITY. FINALLY, WE SUGGEST AN EASY AND UNIQUE WAY FOR THE CORRESPONDENCE OF A NEW VARIABLE TO THE OBJECTS OF EACH CLASS, USING THE RESULTS OF A CLASSIFICATION DENDROGRAM

What Accuracy for 3D Measurements with Cameras?

    Get PDF
International audienceWe estimate the internal and external parameters of the camera, and simultaneously the distortion's parameters. Our aim is the selection of the best distortion model, using statistical test for the importance of distortion parameters. Also we examine the accuracy in camera parameter estimation and 3D reconstruction, in relation with the noise in the image. We answer the question 'until which level of noise, is it possible to obtain a good camera parameter estimation, and from there a good reconstruction?'. Experiments are evaluated on simulated data and a rest is performed with real data

Manufacturing strategies and financial performance--The effect of advanced information technology: CAD/CAM systems

Nowadays, the business environment is characterized by great uncertainty and variability. In this environment, information technology (IT) has proved to be an important strategic ingredient for the creation of competitive advantage. This role of IT has been widely accepted during the past few years [Feeny D. Creating and sustaining competitive advantage with IT. In: Earl M, editor. Information management the strategic direction. Oxford, 1990; Ives B. Wingtip Courriers, Southern Methodist University Case Study #SMY/MIS/90-01, Edwin L. Cox School of Business, Dallas, TX, January 1990]. In the new era of production, strategic priorities rather than a cost contained focus have proved to be important for competition, namely: quality, dependability, flexibility, customer service, after sale service, supply chain management, etc. IT proved to be vital for successful competition as it can facilitate the attainment of these strategic targets. In this paper, the impact of IT on financial performance for the different types and levels of business strategy is examined. After the clustering of firms according to their strategic priorities, the effect of IT on financial performance is estimated. To do this a cross-sectional study was held in the field of Greek manufacturing firms that apply advanced IT, in order to explore which, how and in what level manufacturing priorities have been adopted. For that purpose, cluster analysis and VACOR algorithm were used, to distinguish clusters of firms and estimate the effect of IT on financial performance, for each type and level of strategic choice. Return on invested capital (ROIC) has been used as a criterion of performance in order to incorporate the effect of cost, revenues and profits. It was found that the effect of IT on financial performance was observed to be greater for firms which emphasize the higher level of flexibility strategy and the middle level of cost strategy. On the contrary, the effect of IT on performance was observed to be greater for firms which emphasize a lower level of quality and innovation strategy. Further discussion of these results and conclusions were drawn.Information systems MIS Flexible manufacturing Statistics Cost benefit analysis
