Technical Guide for the Analysis of Microenterprise Financial Institutions
The purpose of this technical guide is to provide a standard format for the analysis of institutions that provide financial services to the microenterprise sector. The technical guide outlines the appropriate techniques and scope of analysis for evaluating and designing programs of support to specialized financial institutions. The analytical techniques presented in this guide are structured to facilitate the process of institutional analysis and project design represented in the diagram below. The analytical framework applied in this technical guide is comprised of two basic components. The first part of the analysis, described in chapters 1 through 5, is dedicated to deriving a series of quantitative performance indicators that measure the performance of the institution. The investigation begins with an analysis of financial performance in order to derive general indicators regarding the sustainability of the institution. Credit operations are then analyzed in order to identify sources of inefficiency. The investigation concludes with an assessment of the impact of the credit services on the institution's clients.Social Development, Financial Sector, Microbusinesses & Microfinance, Microenterprise Finance Institutions
Home Not Found: The Cost of Homelessness In Silicon Valley
This report analyzes comprehensive cross-sector information about the entire population of residents who experienced homelessness in Santa Clara County at any point during a six year period -- a total of 104,206 individuals. This information includes the demographic and medical attributes of each person, justice system history, services received, and the cost of those services. Records for this population were linked across all justice system, health care, social service, nonprofit, and housing agencies. With information about over one hundred thousand people over the six years from 2007 to 2012, including detailed records from each service provider, this is the largest and most comprehensive body of information that has been assembled in the United States to understand the public costs of homelessness
Farm-Level Price Formation for Fresh Sweet Cherries
We estimate price formation in the sweet cherry market using an inverse demand system with farm-level price and quantity data from states in the Pacific Northwest and California. Between 0.60 and 0.78 of the variation in annual cherry price is explained by the states’ production, domestic consumption, and exports. Washington and California prices are most responsive to their own quantity. Output flexibilities indicate that Oregon is responsive to a change in quantity supplied to the domestic market. Results also indicate that cherry price is most sensitive to quantity supplied to the export and domestic markets.Demand and Price Analysis,
Partnerships in Mobile Financial Services: Factors for Success
Mobile financial services have attracted significant attention in recent years as a potential means of accelerating access to financial services for the poor. Safaricom's M-Pesa operation in Kenya demonstrated that payments services - and more recently banking services through the M-Shwari partnership with Commercial Bank of Africa - can be extended to the mass market in a cost-effective and profitable manner
Passe-Partout
This paper conducts a critical examination in a deconstructive manner of a series of paintings by the author. It closely mirrors a post-structuralist style of questioning. It utilizes deconstructive tactics and notions formulated by Jacques Derrida. This paper poses interpretations on issues such as the limit of an image and the relationship between text and representations. It utilizes the terminology of semiotics to contrast different types of symbolism

Organizational assessment of diversity and inclusion
This study outlines the research methods and findings of an assessment performed to evaluate an organization\u27s diversity and inclusion climate. A survey was conducted with 67 of 81 of the organization\u27s employees, followed by 15 interviews, and six focus groups. The study found this organization to be very diverse and to place a high value on the importance of Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) to its performance. However, there are limited form D&I structures currently in place. A comprehensive D&I management strategy integrated with the organization\u27s business strategy will be critical to supporting achievement of its mission. This organization plays a unique role in bridging the gap between diverse student populations and more homogeneous tech corporations. Given this, the organization embodies the complexity of D&I challenges that many organizations must face in creating an inclusive culture in order to increase retention, job satisfaction, engagement, and performance
Evaluating immune function in domestic animals
This dissertation contains a review of problems associated with analysis and interpretation of immune function data. The review discusses each problem separately, offering suggestions for statistical analysis and discussing interpretation problems to avoid. The second part reports on experiments that evaluate the use of dexamethasone administration as an immunosuppression model in the pig. Several immune functions and other values were measured in pigs treated with two or six mg/kg dexamethasone: lymphocyte blastogenesis to mitogens, multiple neutrophil functions, antibody production, total and differential white blood cell count, clinical signs, and organ weights. No consistent differences were found between treated and control pigs when immune function testing was performed 24 hours after treatment. Lymphocyte blastogenesis, but not neutrophil function, was significantly decreased in dexamethasone treated pigs three hours after treatment. Dexamethasone administration appears to have limited use as an immunosuppression model in pigs;Bovine Immunodeficiency-like virus (BIV) is a lentivirus that has genetic and antigenic homology with the human immunodeficiency virus. Several studies were done to evaluate the effect of BIV infection on bovine immune function. Different groups of cattle were tested at various times after infection: 0-2 months, 4-5 months, 19-27 months, or 2-33 months post-infection. Immune functions measured included lymphocyte blastogenesis to mitogens, and seven neutrophil function tests. Additionally, mononuclear cell subset enumeration, and white blood cell counts were performed. The two groups of animals that were evaluated beyond 18 months post-infection both had significantly (P \u3c.05) decreased neutrophil iodination and neutrophil antibody-dependent cell-mediated cytotoxicity. BIV infection was associated with an increase in lymphocyte blastogenesis in groups evaluated at 4-5 and 19-27 months post-infection. All other measured comparisons gave no evidence of a consistent difference between BIV infected cattle and control animals. The effect of coinfection with bovine leukemia virus (BLV) was also tested in BIV infected cattle from 2-33 months after infection. BLV infection caused an increase in lymphocyte numbers. Dual viral infection (BIV/BLV) did not seem to alter the course of infection for either virus. One BIV infected calf died of a multicentric lymphosarcoma seven months after infection. No other notable clinical signs were detected in BIV infected cattle

Abstract
Metis people live with disability and chronic illness which is largely under reported and undocumented in Canada. In an age of Truth and Reconciliation, this thesis demonstrates the lived experience of the same Metis and appeals to all Canadians to understand Metis life as unique and deserving of culturally relevant support and health services in order to allow for Metis self- actualization. By sharing beadwork sewn by the author and their late mother, this thesis demonstrates wealth of knowledge available within the Metis embodied experience with chronic illness and disability.
Feminist disability theory and Manitoba Metis Federation’s (MMF) Wellness Models are an excellent way to explore the theoretical undertones of the family’s beadwork completed while living with disability and chronic illness. Through storytelling and beading this thesis utilizes MMF’s Wellness Models to highlight the importance of dialogue with disabled Metis people. Non-Indigenous people can use this knowledge sharing to understand how Canada should meet Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action for Indigenous health.October 202
Should Accounting Majors Have Human Resource Training in Compliance, Coaching, Team-Building and Mentoring Skills?
This paper looks at the human resource skills of legal compliance, coaching, team building and mentoring that would be useful for accounting students entering the work place. It begins by briefly describing these areas and illustrating how a lack of knowledge could impact an accountant’s success. It then shows how the accounting profession recognizes the need for these “interpersonal skills”. Finally, it provides suggestions on how these skills could be incorporated in accounting programs or curriculum and illustrates how students themselves can gain exposure to these skills through online professional websites (e.g., www.aicpa.org) that provide some knowledge in the areas mentioned to better prepare graduating accounting students for the accounting profession
