Product placement e libertà di espressione
Object of the search is the advertising phenomenon of the "product
placement", with reference to that it has been investigated legality’s limits,
as well as the relationship with the constitutionally protected liberty of
expression.
Particularly, it has been analyzed, in first place, the problem of the
relationship between the freedom of expression and the liberty of economic
initiative, with particular reference to the different circles of guardianship to
these prepared: or, larger, the one provided for the first from the 21th article
of Costitution, more circumscribed, instead, the one established in the 41th
article of Costitution, with reference to the second. This analysis has been
made with the purpose to investigate the coordination among such liberties
in those forms of communications that, for the proper peculiarities that
characterize them, can be qualified, according to the concrete circumstances
in which they are spread, so much forms of liberty of expression, how much
exercise of an activity of enterprise.
Under this last profile, it has been taken attention on the advertising activity
and, specially, on the non transparent publicities, or not immediately
perceivable as such from their receivers, and, therefore, in contrast with the
advertising trasparence’s principle: or, the so-called cases of hidden
publicity, what the editorial publicity, both "in narrow sense" both "in
general sense", as well as the phenomenon of the product placement (or
positioning of product), by now diffused in the commercial routine.
Therefore, it has been proceeded to a complete and exhaustive examination
of innovations introduced by the recent legislative discipline in subject of
“planned placement of marks and products” in the cinema works,
appraising, in the specific one, the effects, juridical and no juridical,
consequential from the introduction of a first form of regulation of the
phenomenon of the product placement and, particularly, from the express
provision about the legality of the use to such advertising, if it has realized
according to specific requirements or condition. In relationship to such
profile, it has been also investigate limits (sub kind of normative gaps) from
which the recently introduced discipline in subject would seem
characterized.
Finally, a further circle of investigation has concerned the possible
organization of the phenomenon under a negotiate aspect, as particular
contract of advertising, in which the object consists in an promotional
activity. Concerning this, the experience of foreign countries (above all the
Anglo-Saxon one) has been very important, because of the absence, in our
arrangement, of a general normative discipline about advertising contracts.
Consequently, I’ve investigated principal characteristics of similar
contracts, in first place the atypicalness, because of the lack, in Italy, of a
legislative discipline of this contract. Such investigation has also been
developed through a comparation between the positioning of product and
the other advertising contracts, among which, particularly, the sponsorship,
as well as the contracts for the advertising exploitation of the name and
other people's image, and, specially, the contract of testimonial and the
contract of endorsement
An insight into the degradation processes of the anti-hypertensive drug furosemide
Furosemide (FUR), an active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) belonging to a group of drugs known as loop diuretics, has widespread use, but, is characterized by a strong instability to light, which causes chemical transformations that could give a yellowing phenomenon and have a significant impact from a health and marketing point of view. Many studies have tried to explain this phenomenon under different experimental conditions, but no detailed explanation of the yellowing phenomenon has been provided. This work, unlike the others, provides an overall view and explanation of the behavior of FUR in relation to the yellowing phenomenon, both in the solution and in solid state, considering several aspects, such as light exposure, presence of oxygen, and moisture effects
DNA Methylation Signatures of Functional Somatic Syndromes: Systematic Review
OBJECTIVE: Functional somatic syndromes (FSS) are highly prevalent across all levels of health care. The fact that they are characterized by medically unexplained symptoms, such as fatigue and pain, raises the important question of their underlying pathophysiology. Psychosocial stress represents a significant factor in the development of FSS and can induce long-term modifications at the epigenetic level. The aim of this review was to systematically review, for the first time, whether individuals with FSS are characterized by specific alterations in DNA methylation.
METHODS: MEDLINE and PsycINFO were searched from the first available date to September 2022. The inclusion criteria were as follows: a) adults fulfilling the research diagnostic criteria for chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia syndrome, and/or irritable bowel syndrome; b) healthy control group; and c) candidate-gene or genome-wide study of DNA methylation.
RESULTS: Sixteen studies ( N = 957) were included. In candidate-gene studies, specific sites within NR3C1 were identified, which were hypomethylated in individuals with chronic fatigue syndrome compared with healthy controls. In genome-wide studies in chronic fatigue syndrome, a hypomethylated site located to LY86 and hypermethylated sites within HLA-DQB1 were found. In genome-wide studies in fibromyalgia syndrome, differential methylation in sites related to HDAC4 , TMEM44 , KCNQ1 , SLC17A9 , PRKG1 , ALPK3 , TFAP2A , and LY6G5C was found.
CONCLUSIONS: Individuals with chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia syndrome seem to be characterized by altered DNA methylation of genes regulating cellular signaling and immune functioning. In chronic fatigue syndrome, there is preliminary evidence for these to be implicated in key pathophysiological alterations, such as hypocortisolism and low-grade inflammation, and to contribute to the debilitating symptoms these individuals experience
Bridging Basic and Clinical Research in Early Life Adversity, DNA Methylation, and Major Depressive Disorder
Early life adversity (ELA)- including childhood physical, emotional, and sexual abuse, as well as childhood neglect- is an important predictive factor for negative psychopathology, including Major Depressive Disorder (MDD). ELA can epigenetically regulate key emotional and behavioral systems in ways that can stably persist into adulthood and contribute to the development of MDD and other psychopathology. DNA methylation has been one of the most investigated forms of epigenetic regulation in ELA to MDD pathway. From these studies, genes and sites associated with ELA/MDD have been identified and should be further investigated in order to identify potential avenues for intervention
β-Cyclodextrins as Encapsulating Agents of Essential Oils
Many scientific studies have made advances in the ability to encapsulate natural extracts by cyclodextrins. These studies have addressed the physical and chemical conditions of the encapsulation reactions, employed several types of essential oils and characterized the microcapsules as to their ability to release encapsulated active principles. The essential oils studies with cyclodextrin encapsulation processes have been highly varied. However, the most studied are the essential oils with antimicrobial and antioxidant capacities. The essential antimicrobial and antioxidant oils are easily degraded. In the presence of oxygen, they are oxidized, and at low temperatures, they are volatilized and decomposed. Thus, cyclodextrins are coatings capable of protecting these essential oils from environmental conditions and agents capable of promoting oil degradation, in addition to controlling their release. Urinary cotinine in tobacco farmers in Southern Brazil
OBJECTIVE: To describe urinary cotinine levels in tobacco farmers. METHODS: A cross-sectional study was conducted in 2,570 tobacco farmers. All participants that reported green tobacco sickness in the week prior to the interview plus a subsample of 492 pesticide applicators were included. We collected urinary samples and information about sociodemographic, behavioral, dietary, occupational characteristics, and pesticide poisoning during their lifetime. Stratification by sex and smoking was performed and the Wilcoxon and Kruskal-Wallis non-parametrical tests were used to analyze cotinine means. RESULTS: This study included 582 individuals. There was no difference in urinary cotinine means between green tobacco sickness symptomatic and asymptomatic individuals. Among non-smokers, having picked tobacco in the previous week was associated with higher cotinine means in both genders. Cotinine levels were higher on the first day of symptoms and reduced exponentially with each day in female non-smokers. Male non-smokers had higher levels on the second day and a more gradual reduction. The cotinine level rose up to 15 cigarettes/day of consumption. CONCLUSIONS: The urinary cotinine measures exposure to nicotine up to its saturation point; while green tobacco sickness, affected by tolerance, indicates nicotine poisoning. Strategies to reduce nicotine exposure in tobacco production are needed. Mechanization could be an alternative, as long as it overcame the challenge of irregular terrain and did not affect the quality of the leaf. More studies are needed to evaluate the chronic effect of nicotine exposure
Sleep actigraphic patterns and cognitive status
none9noWe performed an actigraphic assessment of sleep characteristics in healthy subjects and patients with cognitive impairment. Thirty subjects were included and classified into controls (10 subjects), mild cognitive impairment (10 patients) and mild-to-moderate Alzheimer's disease (10 patients). Sleep quality was assessed using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index. Participants had a 7-day actigraphic record. Sleep parameters collected were time in bed, total sleep time, sleep efficiency, sleep latency, wakefulness after sleep onset, number of awakenings, and mean motor activity. Significant differences between mild cognitive impairment and controls patients were found for sleep latency (p = 0.05); Alzheimer's disease patients had significantly worse scores for Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (p = 0.01), time in bed (p = 0.001), total sleep time (p = 0.04), sleep latency, sleep efficiency, motor activity (p = 0.0001) and wakefulness after sleep onset (p = 0.001) compared to controls. When comparing Alzheimer's disease and mild cognitive impairment, differences were significant for sleep latency (p = 0.01), wakefulness after sleep onset (p = 0.004), sleep efficiency, number of awakenings and motor activity (p = 0.0001). In addition to showing a high prevalence of sleep alterations in subjects with cognitive impairment, our data suggest that they are evident from the earliest stages of cognitive decline. Further studies are needed to assess whether early correction of sleep alterations can positively influence the evolution of cognitive impairment. Synthesis and characterization of a polyester/styrene resin obtained by frontal polymerization
AbstractThe frontal polymerization technique has been successfully applied, for the first time, to obtain an unsaturated polyester/styrene resin. The effect of the ratio of the two aforementioned components, as well as of the type and amount of free-radical initiator on both front velocity and maximum temperature reached by the front, has been thoroughly studied. The resulting products have been characterized in terms of their thermal and dynamic-mechanical behaviour. A comparison of such products with the corresponding materials obtained by the classical batch polymerization technique has evidenced that frontal polymerization allows to reach a higher degree of crosslinking with respect to batch copolymerization and hence a better thermal and mechanical behaviour
