A note on boundedness of operators in Grand Grand Morrey spaces
In this note we introduce grand grand Morrey spaces, in the spirit of the
grand Lebesgue spaces. We prove a kind of \textit{reduction lemma} which is
applicable to a variety of operators to reduce their boundedness in grand grand
Morrey spaces to the corresponding boundedness in Morrey spaces. As a result of
this application, we obtain the boundedness of the Hardy-Littlewood maximal
operator and Calder\'on-Zygmund operators in the framework of grand grand
Morrey spaces.Comment: 8 page
Quantum Degenerate Systems
Degenerate dynamical systems are characterized by symplectic structures whose
rank is not constant throughout phase space. Their phase spaces are divided
into causally disconnected, nonoverlapping regions such that there are no
classical orbits connecting two different regions. Here the question of whether
this classical disconnectedness survives quantization is addressed. Our
conclusion is that in irreducible degenerate systems --in which the degeneracy
cannot be eliminated by redefining variables in the action--, the
disconnectedness is maintained in the quantum theory: there is no quantum
tunnelling across degeneracy surfaces. This shows that the degeneracy surfaces
are boundaries separating distinct physical systems, not only classically, but
in the quantum realm as well. The relevance of this feature for gravitation and
Chern-Simons theories in higher dimensions cannot be overstated.Comment: 18 pages, no figure
Innovative Configuration for a Far Infrared Space Interferometer
In the last ten years many proposals and studies have been advanced for a far-IR kilometer baseline interferometer. This paper shows the results of FISICA (Far Infrared Space Interferometer Critical Assessment), an FP7 program of the European Community. In particular, we focus on an innovative strategy to cover the plane of observation with a minimal propellant consumption. Classification of Pecorino cheeses produced in Italy according to their ripening time and manufacturing technique using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy.
Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, followed by linear discriminant analysis of the spectral data, was used to classify Italian Pecorino cheeses according to their ripening time and manufacturing technique. The Fourier transform infrared spectra of the cheeses were divided into 18 regions and the normalized absorbance peak areas within these regions were used as predictors. Linear discriminant analysis models were constructed to classify Pecorino cheeses according to different ripening stages (hard and semi-hard) or according to their manufacturing technique (fossa and nonfossa cheeses). An excellent resolution was achieved according to both ripening time and manufacturing technique. Also, a final linear discriminant analysis model considering the 3 categories (hard nonfossa, hard fossa, and semi-hard nonfossa) was constructed. A good resolution among the 3 categories was obtained
Characterisation of the microflora contaminating the wooden vats used for traditional sicilian cheese production
Traditional Sicilian cheese productions are carried out employing traditional wooden vats, called tina. Many studies have highlighted the beneficial role of wooden dairy equipment by contributing to enriching the milk microflora and improving the acidification processes. The present work was undertaken to evaluate the safety of the wooden vats used to coagulate milk. To this purpose, the different microbial populations hosted onto the internal surfaces of the vats used to produce two different stretched cheeses, namely Caciocavallo Palermitano and Vastedda della valle del Bel\uecce DOP, were investigated for the presence of spoilage and pathogenic microorganisms as well as for bacteria with inhibitory effect in vitro against pathogenic microorganisms. A wide biodiversity of protechnological lactic acid bacteria (LAB), in terms of species, was revealed. Several LAB inhibited the growth of Listeria monocytogenes ATCC 7644. The wooden vats analysed resulted safe for three main findings: absence of the main pathogenic species, presence of high levels of LAB, anti-Listeria activity of many LAB
