A pesquisa histórica no Itamaraty

Este artigo versa sobre a pesquisa histórica no arquivo do Itamaraty. Analisando a estrutura do Arquivo, a evolução das regras de acesso aos documentos diplomáticos brasileiros e as pesquisas nele efetuadas entre 1987-1998, o autor aponta que a Constituição de 1988 operou significativas mudanças no que concerne ao acesso à documentação contida no Arquivo, facilitando e estimulando novas pesquisas no campo da história das relações internacionais do Brasil. __________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACTThis article deals about historical research at Itamaraty's archive. By analyzing the structure of the archive, the evolution of the rules regarding the access to Brazilian diplomatic documents and the researches occurred in that archive during the period of 1987 to1998, the author argues that the Brazilian 1988 Constitution not only changed the rules of access to the documentation kept in the archive but also facilitated and stimulated researches about history of Brazilian international relations

Trata-se de um estudo que visa a desvendar como agia um dos elos do sistema repressivo montado pela ditadura brasileira, que tinha um relativo grau de interação com as outras ditaduras militares da região do Cone Sul. O artigo demonstra que o Itamaraty colaborou intensamente com o regime militar brasileiro, inclusive com a repressão. __________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACTThis paper analyzes the functioning of the Centro de Informações do Exterior (CIEX), an agency linked to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Itamaraty) and National Intelligence Service (SNI), which was charged with spying political opponents of the Brazilian military regime exiled in neighboring countries. The study aims at examining one component of the repressive system set by the Brazilian dictatorship that had a relative degree of interaction with other military dictatorships in the region of the Southern Cone. The article demonstrates that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs cooperated intensively with the Brazilian military regime
