Modelling of Tirapazamine effects on solid tumour morphology
Bioreductive drugs are in clinical practice to exploit the resistance from tumour microenvironments especially in the hypoxic region of tumour. We pre-sented a tumour treatment model to capture the pharmacology of one of the most prominent bioreductive drugs, Tirapazamine (TPZ) which is in clinical trials I and II. We calculated solid tumour mass in our previous work and then integrated that model with TPZ infusion. We calculated TPZ cytotoxicity, concentration, penetra-tion with increasing distance from blood vessel and offered resistance from micro-environments for drug penetration inside the tumour while considering each cell as an individual entity. The impact of these factors on tumour morphology is also showed to see the drug behaviour inside animals/humans tumours. We maintained the heterogeneity factors in presented model as observed in real tumour mass es-pecially in terms of cells proliferation, cell movement, extracellular matrix (ECM) interaction, and the gradients of partial oxygen pressure (pO2) inside tumour cells during the whole growth and treatment activity. The results suggest that TPZ high concentration in combination with chemotherapy should be given to get maximum abnormal cell killing. This model can be a good choice for oncologists and re-searchers to explore more about TPZ action inside solid tumour
Gauge vs. Gravity mediation in models with anomalous U(1)'s
In an attempt to implement gauge mediation in string theory, we study string
effective supergravity models of supersymmetry breaking, containing anomalous
gauge factors. We discuss subtleties related to gauge invariance and the
stabilization of the Green-Schwarz moduli, which set non-trivial constraints on
the transmission of supersymmetry breaking to MSSM via gauge interactions.
Given those constraints, it is difficult to obtain the dominance of gauge
mediation over gravity mediation. Furthermore, generically the gauge
contributions to soft terms contain additional non-standard terms coming from
D-term contributions. Motivated by this, we study the phenomenology of recently
proposed hybrid models, where gravity and gauge mediations compete at the GUT
scale, and show that such a scenario can respect WMAP constraints and would be

N=1/2 quiver gauge theories from open strings with R-R fluxes
We consider a four dimensional N=1 gauge theory with bifundamental matter and
a superpotential, defined on stacks of fractional branes. By turning on a flux
for the R-R graviphoton field strength and computing open string amplitudes
with insertions of R-R closed string vertices, we introduce a
non-anticommutative deformation and obtain the N=1/2 version of the theory. We

Membrane Instantons and de Sitter Vacua
We investigate membrane instanton effects in type IIA strings compactified on
rigid Calabi-Yau manifolds. These effects contribute to the low-energy
effective action of the universal hypermultiplet. In the absence of additional
fivebrane instantons, the quaternionic geometry of this hypermultiplet is
determined by solutions of the three-dimensional Toda equation. We construct
solutions describing membrane instantons, and find perfect agreement with the
string theory prediction. In the context of flux compactifications we discuss
how membrane instantons contribute to the scalar potential and the
stabilization of moduli. Finally, we demonstrate the existence of meta-stable

Spin - or, actually: Spin and Quantum Statistics
The history of the discovery of electron spin and the Pauli principle and the
mathematics of spin and quantum statistics are reviewed. Pauli's theory of the
spinning electron and some of its many applications in mathematics and physics
are considered in more detail. The role of the fact that the tree-level
gyromagnetic factor of the electron has the value g = 2 in an analysis of
stability (and instability) of matter in arbitrary external magnetic fields is
highlighted. Radiative corrections and precision measurements of g are
reviewed. The general connection between spin and statistics, the CPT theorem
