A Note on Complexity Measures for Probabilistic P Systems
In this paper we present a first approach to the definition of different
entropy measures for probabilistic P systems in order to obtain some quantitative
parameters showing how complex the evolution of a P system is. To this end, we define
two possible measures, the first one to reflect the entropy of the P system considered
as the state space of possible computations, and the second one to reflect the change
of the P system as it evolves.Ministerio de Ciencia y Tecnología TIC2002-04220-C03-0
A Virtual Laboratory for the Study of History and Cultural Dynamics
This article presents a Virtual Laboratory that enables the researcher to try hypothesis and confirm data analysis about different historical processes and cultural dynamics. This Virtual Cultural Laboratory (VCL) is developed using agent-based modeling technology. Individuals' tendencies and preferences as well as the behavior of cultural objects in the transformation of cultural information are taken into consideration. In addition, the effect of local interactions at different scales over time and space is visualized through the VCL interface. Information repositories, cultural items, borders, population size, individual' tendencies and other features are determined by the user. Finally, the researcher can also isolate specific factors whose effect on the global system might be of interest to the researcher. All the code can be found at http://projects.cultureplex.ca/Cultural Dynamics, Cultural Complexity, Multi-Agent Based Simulation, Netlogo, Virtual Laboratory

Principal bundles, quasi-abelian varieties and structure of algebraic groups
We classify principal bundles over anti-affine schemes with affine and
commutative structural group. We show that this yields the classification of
quasi-abelian varieties over a field k (i.e., group k-schemes with no non
constant global functions). The interest of this result is given by the fact
that the classification of smooth group k-schemes is reduced to the
classification of quasi-abelian varieties and of certain affine group schemes.Comment: 26 page
Non-exact Integral Functors
We give a natural notion of (non-exact) integral functor in the context of
k-linear and graded categories. In this broader sense, we prove that every
k-linear and graded functor is integral.Comment: 14 pages. Comments are welcom
Beyond the Salassa-Samuelson Effect in some New Member States of the European Union
This paper analyses the Balassa and Samuelson hypothesis in two groups of European countries: six New Member States (NMS) and six advanced EU-15 economies. It is found that the second stage of the hypothesis, which relates relative sector prices with the real exchange rate, does not hold anywhere. In the NMS the main reasons are increased demand for domestic tradables stemming from positive differentials in economic growth, probably coupled with quality improvements in domestic tradable goods. In the EU-15, the explanatory factor is segmentation between national markets of tradables, caused by transportation costs, non-tariff barriers and imperfect competition between firms.Balassa-Samuelson effect, panel cointegration, economic transition, market segmentation, quality bias
