In the title compound, C21H16Cl2N2O, the central pyrazoline ring makes dihedral angles of 90.1 (3) and 7.8 (3)°, with the pendant benzene ring and naphthalene ring system, respectively. In the crystal structure, weak C—H⋯O interactions lead to chains of molecules

Efficient Semantic-based Content Search in P2P Network

Most existing Peer-to-Peer (P2P) systems support only title-based searches and are limited in functionality when compared to today’s search engines. In this paper, we present the design of a distributed P2P information sharing system that supports semantic-based content searches of relevant documents. First, we propose a general and extensible framework for searching similar documents in P2P network. The framework is based on the novel concept of Hierarchical Summary Structure. Second, based on the framework, we develop our efficient document searching system, by effectively summarizing and maintaining all documents within the network with different granularity. Finally, an experimental study is conducted on a real P2P prototype, and a large-scale network is further simulated. The results show the effectiveness, efficiency and scalability of the proposed system.Singapore-MIT Alliance (SMA

Effectiveness of Pharmacopuncture for Asthma: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

Pharmacopuncture is a new needle therapy that integrates acupuncture and herbal therapies, and it has the potential to treat many diseases. A systematic review was performed to summarize and critically evaluate clinical trial evidence regarding the effectiveness of pharmacopuncture for asthma. Eight electronic databases and six journals were searched in this study. Randomized clinical trials (RCTs) in which human patients with asthma were treated with pharmacopuncture were included. The selection of studies, data extraction, and validation were performed independently by two reviewers. Four RCTs met our inclusion criteria, and the evidence from all RCTs in this study was positive. The meta-analysis showed statistically significant effects of pharmacopuncture compared to conventional treatment (n = 341, Risk Ratio = 1.13, 95% CI of 1.05 to 1.23, P = .002, heterogeneity: χ2 = 3.55, P = .31, I2 = 16%). Two trials showed favorable effects of pharmacopuncture on peak expiratory flow (PEF). However, few rigorous trials have tested the effects of pharmacopuncture on asthma. The results of our systematic review point to the potential benefits of pharmacopuncture for adults with asthma, and we suggest further RCTs and the development of a standard method of pharmacopuncture therapy

Propofol combined with hyperbaric oxygen improves the prognosis of spinal cord injury in rats via MAPK/ERK signaling pathway

Purpose: To determine the effect of propofol combined with hyperbaric oxygen on spinal cord injury (SCI) in rats. Methods: A total of 36 Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats were randomly divided into sham group (S group), model group (M group), and propofol combined with hyperbaric oxygen group (P group). The Basso, Beattie and Bresnahan (BBB) scoring system was adopted to evaluate the recovery of motor function in rats. Subsequently, levels of interleukin-18 (IL-18) and IL-1β in the spinal cord tissues were determined using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Nerve cell apoptosis in the spinal cord tissues were examined via terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase dUTP nick end labeling (TUNEL) assay. Finally, the protein expression levels of MAPK/ERK in the spinal cord tissues were assessed by Western blotting. Results: Compared with S group, BBB score in M group decreased at days 3 and 10 after treatment. While the BBB score of rats in P group was significantly increased (p < 0.05), compared with S group. The expressions of IL-18 and IL-1β were significantly lower in S and P groups than in M group (p < 0.05). S and P groups had lower apoptosis rate in the spinal cord tissues than in M group. Furthermore, Western blotting results showed that protein expressions of MAPK/ERK pathway were higher in S group and P group than in M group (p < 0.05).Conclusion: Propofol, combined with hyperbaric oxygen improves the prognosis of SCI rats probably by regulating MAPK/ERK signaling pathway, thus paving way for the development of a potential treatment for the management of spinal cord injury in humans
