Excitation of nonlinear ion acoustic waves in CH plasmas
Excitation of nonlinear ion acoustic wave (IAW) by an external electric field
is demonstrated by Vlasov simulation. The frequency calculated by the
dispersion relation with no damping is verified much closer to the resonance
frequency of the small-amplitude nonlinear IAW than that calculated by the
linear dispersion relation. When the wave number increases,
the linear Landau damping of the fast mode (its phase velocity is greater than
any ion's thermal velocity) increases obviously in the region of in which the fast mode is weakly damped mode. As a result, the deviation
between the frequency calculated by the linear dispersion relation and that by
the dispersion relation with no damping becomes larger with
increasing. When is not large, such as , the nonlinear IAW can be excited by the driver with the linear frequency
of the modes. However, when is large, such as
, the linear frequency can not be applied to exciting the
nonlinear IAW, while the frequency calculated by the dispersion relation with
no damping can be applied to exciting the nonlinear IAW.Comment: 10 pages, 9 figures, Accepted by POP, Publication in August 1
Significance of rice sheath photosynthesis: Yield determination by 14C radio-autography.
Using high-yielding hybrid rice Liangyopeijiu (LYP9), its male parent 9311 and hybrid rice Shanyou 63 (SY63) as the experimental materials, the photosynthesis of rice sheath was studied by 14C radio-autography. The results showed that rice sheath could trap sunlight and produce photosynthates, and these photosynthates were transported mainly to the spikes. The 14C-labeled photosynthates transported to the spikes of LYP9 and 9311 were significantly more than those of SY63 after 72 hr, which indicated that differences among genotypes existed for contribution rates of sheath photosynthesis to economical yield. Transport of the 14C-labeled photosynthates to the spikes was faster in the sheaths of LYP9 than in those of 9311and SY63 at 12 and 72 hr after treatment. Hybrid rice housed the heterosis and were influenced by the inheritable characters of its parents. Since photosynthesis of rice sheath is an important supplement to rice yield, inefficient photosynthesis in rice sheaths could cause serious yield reduction.Key Words: Hybrid rice, photosynthates, spike
Anti-Stokes scattering and Stokes scattering of stimulated Brillouin scattering cascade in high-intensity laser-plasmas interaction
The anti-Stokes scattering and Stokes scattering in stimulated Brillouin
scattering (SBS) cascade have been researched by the Vlasov-Maxwell simulation.
In the high-intensity laser-plasmas interaction, the stimulated anti-Stokes
Brillouin scattering (SABS) will occur after the second stage SBS rescattering.
The mechanism of SABS has been put forward to explain this phenomenon. And the
SABS will compete with the SBS rescattering to determine the total SBS
reflectivity. Thus, the SBS rescattering including the SABS is an important
saturation mechanism of SBS, and should be taken into account in the
high-intensity laser-plasmas interaction.Comment: 6 pages, 5 figure
Improved Liver R2* Mapping by Averaging Decay Curves.
Liver R2* mapping is often degraded by the low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) especially in the presence of severe iron. This study aims to improve liver R2* mapping at low SNRs by averaging decay curves before the process of curve-fitting. Independently filtering echo images by nonlocal means (NLM) demonstrated improved quality of R2* mapping, but may introduce new errors due to the nonlinear nature of the NLM filter, during which the averaging weights may vary with different image contents at multiple echo times. In addition, the image denoising effect of the NLM may decline when no sufficient similar patches are available. To overcome these drawbacks, we proposed to filter decay curves instead of images. In this novel scheme, decay curves were averaged in a local window, each with a weight assigned according to the curve-similarity measured by the distance between one of the neighboring curves and the targeted one. The proposed method was tested on simulated, phantom and patient data. The results demonstrate that the proposed method can provide more accurate R2* mapping compared with the NLM algorithm, and hence has the potential to improve diagnosis and therapy in patients with liver iron
