Acetone Adsorption to Co3O4?111?Surface: A Density Functional Theory (DFT) Study

    Get PDF
Acetone, as one of VOCs, is not only polluting to the environment, but also harmful to humans. Therefore, detecting acetone is an important topic in the field of gas sensing. The carbonyl functional group determines the chemical properties of acetone. Aldehydes also contain carbonyl functional group. In this paper, we have calculated adsorption energy, adsorption distance and transfer charge by DFT. The results showed that the top of Co3+ on Co3O4 (111) surface has the best selectivity for sensing acetone. Our study contributes to the further study of the sensing properties of p-type metal oxide semiconductor sensors

MFI2-AS1 enhances the survival of esophageal cancer cell via regulation of miR-331-3p/SOX4

Purpose: To investigate the specific role of melanotransferrin antisense RNA (MFI2-AS1) in esophageal cancer (EC) progression. Methods: The differential expression of MFI2-AS1 in EC tissues and cells was determined using quantitative reverse transcription–polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR). Silencing MFI2-AS1 was performed by transfection with specific short hairpin RNAs targeting MFI2-AS1. The 3-(4,5- dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide assay (MTT) and flow cytometry (FC) were used to assess cell viability and apoptosis of EC cells, respectively. The sponging microRNA (miRNA) of MFI2-AS1 was validated using luciferase activity and RNA immunoprecipitation assays while the downstream target gene of the sponging miRNA was evaluated by luciferase activity assay. Results: MFI2-AS1 was significantly enhanced in EC tissues (p < 0.01) and indicated a poor prognosis in EC patients. Knockdown of MFI2-AS1 in EC cells decreased cell viability and promoted cell apoptosis of EC cells. Functionally, MFI2-AS1 targeted miR-331-3p, and sex-determining region on Ychromosome-related high-mobility-group box4 (SOX4) was identified as a target gene of miR-331-3p. Ectopic expression of SOX4  counteracted the suppressive effect of MFI2-AS1 knockdown on EC cell viability and stimulative effect on EC cell apoptosis. Conclusion: The pro-oncogenic effect of MFI2-AS1 on EC progression occurs via the regulation of the miR-331-3p/SOX4 axis, providing a new potential therapeutic target for EC

Topic Shift Detection in Chinese Dialogues: Corpus and Benchmark

Dialogue topic shift detection is to detect whether an ongoing topic has shifted or should shift in a dialogue, which can be divided into two categories, i.e., response-known task and response-unknown task. Currently, only a few investigated the latter, because it is still a challenge to predict the topic shift without the response information. In this paper, we first annotate a Chinese Natural Topic Dialogue (CNTD) corpus consisting of 1308 dialogues to fill the gap in the Chinese natural conversation topic corpus. And then we focus on the response-unknown task and propose a teacher-student framework based on hierarchical contrastive learning to predict the topic shift without the response. Specifically, the response at high-level teacher-student is introduced to build the contrastive learning between the response and the context, while the label contrastive learning is constructed at low-level student. The experimental results on our Chinese CNTD and English TIAGE show the effectiveness of our proposed model

Secure and Precise Wireless Transmission for Random-Subcarrier-Selection-Based Directional Modulation Transmit Antenna Array

In this paper, a practical wireless transmission scheme is proposed to transmit confidential messages to the desired user securely and precisely by the joint use of multiple techniques, including artificial noise (AN) projection, phase alignment/beamforming, and random subcarrier selection (RSCS) based on orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM), and directional modulation (DM), namely RSCS-OFDM-DM. This RSCS-OFDM-DM scheme provides an extremely low-complexity structure for the desired receiver and makes the secure and precise wireless transmission realizable in practice. For illegal eavesdroppers, the receive power of confidential messages is so weak that their receivers cannot intercept these confidential messages successfully once it is corrupted by AN. In such a scheme, the design of phase alignment/beamforming vector and AN projection matrix depends intimately on the desired direction angle and distance. It is particularly noted that the use of RSCS leads to a significant outcome that the receive power of confidential messages mainly concentrates on the small neighboring region around the desired receiver and only small fraction of its power leaks out to the remaining large broad regions. This concept is called secure precise transmission. The probability density function of real-time receive signal-to-interference-and-noise ratio (SINR) is derived. Also, the average SINR and its tight upper bound are attained. The approximate closed-form expression for average secrecy rate is derived by analyzing the first-null positions of the SINR and clarifying the wiretap region. Simulation and analysis show that the proposed scheme actually can achieve a secure and precise wireless transmission of confidential messages in line-of-propagation channel, and the derived theoretical formula of average secrecy rate is verified to coincide with the exact results well for medium and large scale transmit antenna array or in the low and medium SNR regions

Advancing Topic Segmentation and Outline Generation in Chinese Texts: The Paragraph-level Topic Representation, Corpus, and Benchmark

Topic segmentation and outline generation strive to divide a document into coherent topic sections and generate corresponding subheadings. Such a process unveils the discourse topic structure of a document that benefits quickly grasping and understanding the overall context of the document from a higher level. However, research and applications in this field have been restrained due to the lack of proper paragraph-level topic representations and large-scale, high-quality corpora in Chinese compared to the success achieved in English. Addressing these issues, we introduce a hierarchical paragraph-level topic structure representation with title, subheading, and paragraph that comprehensively models the document discourse topic structure. In addition, we ensure a more holistic representation of topic distribution within the document by using sentences instead of keywords to represent sub-topics. Following this representation, we construct the largest Chinese Paragraph-level Topic Structure corpus (CPTS), four times larger than the previously largest one. We also employ a two-stage man-machine collaborative annotation method to ensure the high quality of the corpus both in form and semantics. Finally, we validate the computability of CPTS on two fundamental tasks (topic segmentation and outline generation) by several strong baselines, and its efficacy has been preliminarily confirmed on the downstream task: discourse parsing. The representation, corpus, and benchmark we established will provide a solid foundation for future studies

A Distance-Aware Replica Adaptive Data Gathering Protocol for Delay Tolerant Mobile Sensor Networks

    Get PDF
In Delay Tolerant Mobile Sensor Networks (DTMSNs) that have the inherent features of intermitted connectivity and frequently changing network topology it is reasonable to utilize multi-replica schemes to improve the data gathering performance. However, most existing multi-replica approaches inject a large amount of message copies into the network to increase the probability of message delivery, which may drain each mobile node’s limited battery supply faster and result in too much contention for the restricted resources of the DTMSN, so a proper data gathering scheme needs a trade off between the number of replica messages and network performance. In this paper, we propose a new data gathering protocol called DRADG (for Distance-aware Replica Adaptive Data Gathering protocol), which economizes network resource consumption through making use of a self-adapting algorithm to cut down the number of redundant replicas of messages, and achieves a good network performance by leveraging the delivery probabilities of the mobile sensors as main routing metrics. Simulation results have shown that the proposed DRADG protocol achieves comparable or higher message delivery ratios at the cost of the much lower transmission overhead than several current DTMSN data gathering schemes
