    Recognizing Members of the Tournament Equilibrium Set is NP-hard

    A recurring theme in the mathematical social sciences is how to select the "most desirable" elements given a binary dominance relation on a set of alternatives. Schwartz's tournament equilibrium set (TEQ) ranks among the most intriguing, but also among the most enigmatic, tournament solutions that have been proposed so far in this context. Due to its unwieldy recursive definition, little is known about TEQ. In particular, its monotonicity remains an open problem up to date. Yet, if TEQ were to satisfy monotonicity, it would be a very attractive tournament solution concept refining both the Banks set and Dutta's minimal covering set. We show that the problem of deciding whether a given alternative is contained in TEQ is NP-hard.Comment: 9 pages, 3 figure

    Hubungan Mikroalbuminuria dan Tekanan Darah pada Anak dengan Riwayat Berat Lahir Rendah Kecil Masa Kehamilan

    Latar belakang. Gangguan nefrogenesis yang terjadi pada bayi berat lahir rendah (BLR) kecil masa kehamilan (KMK) dapat mengakibatkan terjadinya mikroalbuminuria dan berhubungan dengan peningkatan tekanan darah. Tujuan. Melihat hubungan mikroalbuminuria dengan berat badan lahir dan tekanan darah pada anak dengan riwayat BLR KMK. Metode. Penelitian potong lintang dengan sampel anak usia 7 – 9 tahun dengan riwayat BLR KMK. Tekanan darah diukur dengan sfigmanometer dan kadar mikroalbuminuria diukur dengan metode immunoturbidimetry. Analisis data dengan uji korelasi Pearson dan uji regresi linear, p<0,05 dianggap signifikan. Hasil. Empat puluh satu anak dengan riwayat BLR KMK dengan rerata mikroalbuminuria 15,27 µg/mg. Didapatkan hubungan yang signifikan antara kadar mikroalbuminuria dan berat lahir dengan r=-0,698 dan p<0,0001, tetapi tidak didapatkan hubungan yang signifikan antara tingkat mikroalbuminuria dengan tekanan darah sistolik dan diastolik. Kesimpulan. Semakin rendah berat badan lahir maka semakin tinggi kadar mikroalbuminuria

    Data Visualization on Global Trends on Cancer Incidence An Application of IBM Watson Analytics

    Visual analytics is widely used to explore data patterns and trends. This work leverages cancer data collected by World Health Organization (WHO) across over a hundred of cancer registries worldwide. In this study, we present a visual analytics platform, IBM Watson Analytics, to explore the patterns of global cancer incidence. We included 26 cancers from different geographic regions. An interactive interface was applied to plot a choropleth map to show global cancer distribution, and line charts to demonstrate historical cancer trends over 29 years. Subgroup analyses were conducted for different age groups. With real-time interactive features, we can easily explore the data with a selection of any cancer type, gender, age group, or geographical region. This platform is running on the cloud, so it can handle data in huge volumes, and is assessable by any computer connected to the Internet

    High-fidelity transmission of entanglement over a high-loss freespace channel

    Quantum entanglement enables tasks not possible in classical physics. Many quantum communication protocols require the distribution of entangled states between distant parties. Here we experimentally demonstrate the successful transmission of an entangled photon pair over a 144 km free-space link. The received entangled states have excellent, noise-limited fidelity, even though they are exposed to extreme attenuation dominated by turbulent atmospheric effects. The total channel loss of 64 dB corresponds to the estimated attenuation regime for a two-photon satellite quantum communication scenario. We confirm that the received two-photon states are still highly entangled by violating the CHSH inequality by more than 5 standard deviations. From a fundamental point of view, our results show that the photons are virtually not subject to decoherence during their 0.5 ms long flight through air, which is encouraging for future world-wide quantum communication scenarios.Comment: 5 pages, 3 figures, replaced paper with published version, added journal referenc
