    Translating Video Recordings of Mobile App Usages into Replayable Scenarios

    Screen recordings of mobile applications are easy to obtain and capture a wealth of information pertinent to software developers (e.g., bugs or feature requests), making them a popular mechanism for crowdsourced app feedback. Thus, these videos are becoming a common artifact that developers must manage. In light of unique mobile development constraints, including swift release cycles and rapidly evolving platforms, automated techniques for analyzing all types of rich software artifacts provide benefit to mobile developers. Unfortunately, automatically analyzing screen recordings presents serious challenges, due to their graphical nature, compared to other types of (textual) artifacts. To address these challenges, this paper introduces V2S, a lightweight, automated approach for translating video recordings of Android app usages into replayable scenarios. V2S is based primarily on computer vision techniques and adapts recent solutions for object detection and image classification to detect and classify user actions captured in a video, and convert these into a replayable test scenario. We performed an extensive evaluation of V2S involving 175 videos depicting 3,534 GUI-based actions collected from users exercising features and reproducing bugs from over 80 popular Android apps. Our results illustrate that V2S can accurately replay scenarios from screen recordings, and is capable of reproducing \approx 89% of our collected videos with minimal overhead.     Analysis of recent meteorological configurations responsible for substantial snowfalls in the Trentine sector of the Adige valley bottom (eastern italian Alps).

    Aim of this presentation is to analyse the synoptic conditions favourable to snowfall with more than 10 cm fresh snow cover in the bottom of the Trentine sector of the Adige Valley. Following the abundant and reiterated snowfalls in the study area during the 2005-2006 winter season and the many discomforts to the population and mainly to the road traffic, an accurate study of such events resulted necessary for a reliable forecast. The valley orientation in a NNE-SSW direction lets the Mediterranean warm-humid air masses to get in as far as the main headwater divide (Brenner Pass) and to make its climate relatively mild. Moreover, such humid air inflows bring mean annual precipitation of about 800-1000 mm that gradually decreses from the lower valley mouth to the main divide. The precipitation regime consists of rainfalls in spring and autumn whereas a strong absolute minimum occurs between December and Febraury when snowfalls are more likely on the valley floor. In fact, the vally is annually subjected to warm advection snowfalls, though infrequent and scarce, between November and mid April. The study area is about 80 km long with elevation ranging from 130 and 230 m a.s.l. All the snowfall events observed from 1980 to 2006 were analysed by using the data of the Civil Protection Authority of Trento Province, i.e. Trento Roncafort (194 n a.s.l.), Trento Laste (312 m a.s.l.), Rovereto (203 m a.s.l.) and Ala (197 m a.s.l.) meteo stations. Through the study and analysis of ground and at the 500 hPa geopotential meteo maps, satellite images, thermodynamic diagrams of the nearest sounding stations and the data of the nivometeorological stations, the synoptic types that characterised the snowfalls were studied and classified and a clusterisation was made. For each of the synoptic types defined the conditions for a quantification of the mean characteristic meteo parameters were anlysed in order to obtain a reliable forecast of intense snowfalls on the valley bottom

    The radiating systems exploiting the frequency diversity of the antennas are powerful architectures, that can have a big impact on wireless power transmission applications, but their characterization is merely theoretical. This paper offers a deep and critical numerical analysis of frequency- diverse arrays and shows the advantages of the family with logarithmic distribution of the frequency for radio-frequency energy focusing goals. For the first time, these systems are analyzed through a Harmonic Balance-based simulation combined with the full-wave description of the array made of eight planar monopoles: the rigorous results confirm the potentialities of these complex radiating systems, in particular show how the time-dependency of the radiating mechanism can be favorably deployed

    Energy bursts in fiber bundle models of composite materials

    As a model of composite materials, a bundle of many fibers with stochastically distributed breaking thresholds for the individual fibers is considered. The bundle is loaded until complete failure to capture the failure scenario of composite materials under external load. The fibers are assumed to share the load equally, and to obey Hookean elasticity right up to the breaking point. We determine the distribution of bursts in which an amount of energy EE is released. The energy distribution follows asymptotically a universal power law E5/2E^{-5/2}, for any statistical distribution of fiber strengths. A similar power law dependence is found in some experimental acoustic emission studies of loaded composite materials.Comment: 5 pages, 4 fig

    Pulse-shape discrimination with PbWO4_4 crystal scintillators

    The light output, α/β\alpha/\beta ratio, and pulse shape have been investigated at 25-25^\circ C with PbWO4_4 crystal scintillators undoped, and doped by F, Eu, Mo, Gd and S. The fast 0.010.06μ0.01-0.06 \mus and middle 0.10.5μ0.1-0.5 \mus components of scintillation decay were observed for all the samples. Slow components of scintillation signal with the decay times 13μ1-3 \mus and 1328μ13-28 \mus with the total intensity up to 50\approx50% have been recognized for several samples doped by Molybdenum. We found some indications of a pulse-shape discrimination between α\alpha particles and γ\gamma quanta with PbWO4_4 (Mo doped) crystal scintillators.Comment: 12 pages, 5 figures, submitted to NIM
