In the title ion-pair complex, (C10H10NO)2[Ni(C4N2S2)2]·2H2O, the anion has crystallographically imposed centre of symmetry. The NiII atom exhibits a slightly distorted square-planar coordination geometry. In the crystal, the water molecule links anions and cations into a three-dimensional network via O—H⋯N, O—H⋯S and O—H⋯O hydrogen bonds. The structure is further stabilized by weak S⋯π contacts [S⋯centroid = 3.8047 (9) Å] and π–π stacking interactions [centriod–centroid distance = 3.8653 (7) Å]

The DWT Power Spectrum of the two-degree Field Galaxy Redshift Survey

The power spectrum of the two-degree Field Galaxy Redshift Survey (2dFGRS) sample is estimated with the discrete wavelet transform (DWT) method. The DWT power spectra within 0.04<k<2.3h0.04 <k< 2.3 hMpc1^{-1} are measured for three volume-limited samples defined in connective absolute magnitude bins 1918-19 \sim -18, 2019-20 \sim -19 and 2120-21 \sim -20. We show that the DWT power spectrum can effectively distinguish Λ\LambdaCDM models of σ8=0.84\sigma_8=0.84 and σ8=0.74\sigma_8=0.74. We adopt maximum likelihood method to perform three-parameter fitting with bias parameter bb, pairwise velocity dispersion σpv\sigma_{pv} and redshift distortion parameter β=Ωm0.6/b\beta=\Omega_m^{0.6}/b to the measured DWT power spectrum. Fitting results denotes that in a σ8=0.84\sigma_8=0.84 universe the best fitted Ωm\Omega_m given by the three samples are consistent in the range 0.280.360.28 \sim 0.36, and the best fitted σpv\sigma_{pv} are 39827+35398^{+35}_{-27}, 47529+37475^{+37}_{-29} and 550±20550 \pm 20km/s for the three samples, respectively. However in the model of σ8=0.74\sigma_8=0.74, our three samples give very different values of Ωm\Omega_m. We repeat the fitting by using empirical formula of redshift distortion. The result of the model of low σ8\sigma_8 is still poor, especially, one of the best value σpv\sigma_{pv} is as large as 10310^3km/s. The power spectrum of 2dFGRS seems in disfavor of models with low amplitude of density fluctuations.Comment: 11 pages, 9 figures. submitted to MNRAS. submitted to MNRA

Repeated Electroacupuncture Persistently Elevates Adenosine and Ameliorates Collagen-Induced Arthritis in Rats

The aim of this paper was to investigate the effect of repeated electroacupuncture (EA) over 21 days on the adenosine concentration in peripheral blood of rats with collagen-induced arthritis (CIA). Wistar rats were divided into three groups of 6 animals each: sham-control, CIA-control, and CIA-EA. We determined the adenosine concentration in peripheral blood and assessed pathological changes of ankle joints. Quantitative reverse-transcription-polymerase chain reaction was used to determine mRNA levels of ecto-5′-nucleotidase (CD73), adenosine deaminase (ADA), and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α). Immunohistochemical staining was used to detect expression of ADA and CD73 in synovial tissue. Repeated EA treatment on CIA resulted in the persistence of high concentrations of adenosine in peripheral blood, significantly reduced pathological scores, TNF-α mRNA concentrations, and synovial hyperplasia. Importantly, EA treatment led to a significant increase in CD73 mRNA levels in peripheral blood but was associated with a decrease of CD73 immunostaining in synovial tissue. In addition, EA treatment resulted in a significant decrease of both ADA mRNA levels in peripheral blood and ADA immunostaining in synovial tissue. Thus, repeated EA treatment exerts an anti-inflammatory and immunoregulatory effect on CIA by increasing the concentration of adenosine. The mechanism of EA action may involve the modulation of CD73 and ADA expression levels

Experimental Generation of Spin-Photon Entanglement in Silicon Carbide

A solid-state approach for quantum networks is advantages, as it allows the integration of nanophotonics to enhance the photon emission and the utilization of weakly coupled nuclear spins for long-lived storage. Silicon carbide, specifically point defects within it, shows great promise in this regard due to the easy of availability and well-established nanofabrication techniques. Despite of remarkable progresses made, achieving spin-photon entanglement remains a crucial aspect to be realized. In this paper, we experimentally generate entanglement between a silicon vacancy defect in silicon carbide and a scattered single photon in the zero-phonon line. The spin state is measured by detecting photons scattered in the phonon sideband. The photonic qubit is encoded in the time-bin degree-of-freedom and measured using an unbalanced Mach-Zehnder interferometer. Photonic correlations not only reveal the quality of the entanglement but also verify the deterministic nature of the entanglement creation process. By harnessing two pairs of such spin-photon entanglement, it becomes straightforward to entangle remote quantum nodes at long distance.Comment: 8 pages in total, 4 figures in the main text, 1 figure in the supplemental materia

Clearance of Free Silica in Rat Lungs by Spraying with Chinese Herbal Kombucha

The effects of spraying with kombucha and Chinese herbal kombucha were compared with treatments with tetrandrine in a rat silicosis model. Silica dust (50 mg) was injected into the lungs of rats, which were then treated with one of the experimental treatments for a month. The rats were then killed, and the effects of the treatments were evaluated by examining the extent and severity of the histopathological lesions in the animals’ lungs, measuring their organ coefficients and lung collagen contents, determining the dry and wet weights of their lungs, and measuring the free silica content of the dried lungs. In addition, lavage was performed on whole lungs taken from selected rats, and the numbers and types of cells in the lavage fluid were counted. The most effective treatment in terms of the ability to reduce lung collagen content and minimize the formation of pulmonary histopathological lesions was tetrandrine treatment, followed by Chinese herbal kombucha and non‐Chinese herbal kombucha. However, the lavage fluid cell counts indicated that tetrandrine treatment had severe adverse effects on macrophage viability. This effect was much less pronounced for the kombucha and Chinese herbal kombucha treatments. Moreover, the free silica levels in the lungs of animals treated with Chinese herbal kombucha were significantly lower than those for any other silica‐exposed group. These preliminary results indicate that spraying with Chinese herbal kombucha preparations can effectively promote the discharge of silica dust from lung tissues. Chinese herbal kombucha inhalation may thus be a useful new treatment for silicosis and other pneumoconiosis diseases
