    Marriage, Residence and Domestic Group among the Panamian Chocó

    eng: The Choco are a bilaterally organized horticultural people occupying riverine land in the tropical forests of Darién, Panamá. There are possibly as many as 5000 Choco Indians in this region. Brief descriptions of their material culture and something of their mythology have been synthesized by Scout (1949), with bibliographical references, and the general outlines of their society have been discussed recently by the present writer (Faron 1961). In the present article, attention given to a more detailed analysis of Chocó social institutions.spa: Los chocó son un pueblo hortícola organizado bilateralmente que ocupa tierras ribereñas en los bosques tropicales de Darién, Panamá.
