    Hubungan seks yang berisiko menularkan HIV adalah hubungan seks dengan banyak pasangan dan berganti-ganti pasangan yang sebagian besar didominasi dengan hubungan seks komersial, baik pada kelompok heteroseksual maupun pada kelompok homoseksual atau sejenis. Kelompok yang paling berisiko tertular HIV adalah kelompok homoseksual dan biseksual yang biasa dikategorikan sebagai lelaki seks lelaki atau disebut LSL. Di banyak bagian wilayah, HIV di kalangan LSL muncul dengan penularan HIV yang sangat cepat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh tahu status HIV terhadap penggunaan kondom konsisten pada LSL di Yogyakarta dan Makassar dan melihat adakah perbedaan hasil analisis dengan menggunakan metode RDS dan non RDS terhadap indikator program. Penelitian ini menggunakan data STBP 2013. Dari hasil analisis diperoleh bahwa di Yogyakarta ada pengaruh tahu status HIV terhadap penggunaan kondom konsisten dengan OR sebesar 6,6 dan 95% CI 2,1-20,9, sedangkan di Makassar belum dapat diketahui pengaruh tahu status HIV dengan penggunaan kondom konsisten dengan OR sebesar 1,6 dan 95% CI 0,6 - 4,4. Ada perbedaan hasil analisis dengan menggunakan metode RDS dan non RDS terhadap indikator program. Terdapat pengaruh tahu status HIV dengan penggunaan kondom konsisten pada lelaki yang seks dengan lelaki di Yogyakarta sedangkan di Makassar belum dapat diketahui pengaruh tahu status HIV dengan penggunaan kondom konsisten. Terdapat perbedaan hasil analisis dengan menggunakan metode RDS dan non RDS terhadap indikator program

    Diversity-oriented synthesis of a library of substituted tetrahydropyrones using oxidative carbon-hydrogen bond activation and click chemistry

    Eighteen (2RS,6RS)-2-(4-methoxyphenyl)-6-(substituted ethyl)dihydro- 2Hpyran-4(3H)ones were synthesized via a DDQ-mediated oxidative carbon-hydrogen bond activation reaction. Fourteen of these tetrahydropyrans were substituted with triazoles readily assembled via azide-alkyne click-chemistry reactions. Examples of a linked benzotriazole and pyrazole motif were also prepared. To complement the structural diversity, the alcohol substrates were obtained from stereoselective reductions of the tetrahydropyrone. This library provides rapid access to structurally diverse non-natural compounds to be screened against a variety of biological targets. © 2011 by the authors

    Advanced multivariate data analysis to determine the root cause of trisulfide bond formation in a novel antibody-peptide fusion

    Product quality heterogeneities, such as a trisulfide bond (TSB) formation, can be influenced by multiple interacting process parameters. Identifying their root cause is a major challenge in biopharmaceutical production. To address this issue, this paper describes the novel application of advanced multivariate data analysis (MVDA) techniques to identify the process parameters influencing TSB formation in a novel recombinant antibody-peptide fusion expressed in mammalian cell culture. The screening dataset was generated with a high-throughput (HT) micro-bioreactor system (Ambr(TM) 15) using a design of experiments (DoE) approach. The complex dataset was firstly analyzed through the development of a multiple linear regression model focusing solely on the DoE inputs and identified the temperature, pH and initial nutrient feed day as important process parameters influencing this quality attribute. To further scrutinize the dataset, a partial least squares model was subsequently built incorporating both on-line and off-line process parameters and enabled accurate predictions of the TSB concentration at harvest. Process parameters identified by the models to promote and suppress TSB formation were implemented on five 7 L bioreactors and the resultant TSB concentrations were comparable to the model predictions. This study demonstrates the ability of MVDA to enable predictions of the key performance drivers influencing TSB formation that are valid also upon scale-up

    Reconstruction of Network Evolutionary History from Extant Network Topology and Duplication History

    Genome-wide protein-protein interaction (PPI) data are readily available thanks to recent breakthroughs in biotechnology. However, PPI networks of extant organisms are only snapshots of the network evolution. How to infer the whole evolution history becomes a challenging problem in computational biology. In this paper, we present a likelihood-based approach to inferring network evolution history from the topology of PPI networks and the duplication relationship among the paralogs. Simulations show that our approach outperforms the existing ones in terms of the accuracy of reconstruction. Moreover, the growth parameters of several real PPI networks estimated by our method are more consistent with the ones predicted in literature.Comment: 15 pages, 5 figures, submitted to ISBRA 201

    Addition-Deletion Networks

    We study structural properties of growing networks where both addition and deletion of nodes are possible. Our model network evolves via two independent processes. With rate r, a node is added to the system and this node links to a randomly selected existing node. With rate 1, a randomly selected node is deleted, and its parent node inherits the links of its immediate descendants. We show that the in-component size distribution decays algebraically, c_k ~ k^{-beta}, as k-->infty. The exponent beta=2+1/(r-1) varies continuously with the addition rate r. Structural properties of the network including the height distribution, the diameter of the network, the average distance between two nodes, and the fraction of dangling nodes are also obtained analytically. Interestingly, the deletion process leads to a giant hub, a single node with a macroscopic degree whereas all other nodes have a microscopic degree.Comment: 8 pages, 5 figure

    Knowledge and attitude of basic life support (BLS) among school teachers in Hebron, Palestine

    Background: Patients in all settings fully expect that they will be resuscitated if they have a cardiac arrest. It is therefore necessary to increase the number of qualified people, including school teachers and students who can play a vital role in performing basic and advanced cardiac life support at the scene of a medical emergency. Since life threatening events, such as cardiac arrest, must be responded to within six minutes, the retention of skills becomes a key concern in all urgent cases. The purpose of this study was to assess the existing knowledge of BLS among primary and secondary school teachers in Hebron, Palestine.Methods: After approval from Institute Ethical Committee and informed consent from the participant, the present study was conducted among primary and secondary school teachers. A self-administered questionnaire based on knowledge and attitude of BLS was used to collect data.Results: In general, only 42.5%of school teachers knew about CPR, but 57.5% had no previous information about CPR. Sources of information about CPR included television (26.5%), nurses and Drs (25.8), and the Internet (18.7%). Approximately 53% agreed that CPR training courses should be mandatory. Only 18.1% of teachers didn’t know the contact numbers for emergency services.Conclusions: This study has highlighted a critical issue that a majority of school teachers have limited knowledge about CPR. We recommend the mandatory implementation of CPR and basic life-support training for all school teachers across Palestine, and the need for incorporation of the BLS teaching into the Palestinian schools’ curricula without delay

    Quasiparticle energies for large molecules: a tight-binding GW approach

    We present a tight-binding based GW approach for the calculation of quasiparticle energy levels in confined systems such as molecules. Key quantities in the GW formalism like the microscopic dielectric function or the screened Coulomb interaction are expressed in a minimal basis of spherically averaged atomic orbitals. All necessary integrals are either precalculated or approximated without resorting to empirical data. The method is validated against first principles results for benzene and anthracene, where good agreement is found for levels close to the frontier orbitals. Further, the size dependence of the quasiparticle gap is studied for conformers of the polyacenes (C4n+2H2n+4C_{4n+2}H_{2n+4}) up to n = 30.Comment: 10 pages, 5 eps figures submitted to Phys. Rev.
