Modelling the squeeze flow in a deformed rectangular microchannel

Campus de Excelencia Internacional Andalucía Tech.Rheinforce cork composites, previously named elsewhere as CorkSTFluidics [1], are sandwiches consis?ng of two microagglomerated cork pads embedding microfluidic paCerns that are filled with a shear thickening fluid (see Figure 1 (a)), whose mechanical performance under impact loads is determined by the microfluidic paCern and the rheological proper?es of the fluid [2]. From the experimental results it is impossible to decouple the fluid contribu?on from the solid contribu?on to the force?me response of the composite. In this work, we have developed a simple model of the fluid-flow dynamics that it is able to predict the fluid contribu?on in the energy dissipa?on of the Rheinforce cork composites under impact loads. To that end, we model the viscous flow inside a microchannel for a known displacement of the upper lid h(t, x), calcula?ng as a result the needed force to create that movement

Tricoepitelioma múltiple Multiple tricoephitelioma

El tricoepitelioma, descrito por Brooke en 1892 y también llamado epitelioma adenoideo quístico, es una genodermatosis autosómica dominante originada en el complejo pilosebáceo. Existen dos formas clínicas: la solitaria y la múltiple. Algunos autores recomiendan no tratarlo; sin embargo las lesiones múltiples tienden a deformar la anatomía y la resección parcial presenta recidivas así como cicatrices excesivas y en algunos casos tienen un comportamiento agresivo. Presentamos un caso clínico de tricoepitelioma con deformidad severa de la cara en el que se realizó tratamiento radical con restitución de unidades estéticas mediante colgajos locales. Consideramos que los casos agresivos o deformantes deben ser tratados de forma radical, eliminando todo el espesor de la piel para obtener resultados satisfactorios.<br>Trichoepithelioma, first described by Brooke in 1892, also known as cystic adenoid epithelioma, is a dominantly inherited genodermatosis originated in the follicle bulb. There are two clinical forms, solitary and multiple. Some authors advocate not to treat them, but multiple trichoepithelioma presents a significant cosmetic problem and partial resection can lead to recurrence and excessive scarring, some cases with an aggressive behavior. We present a clinical case of multiple tricoepithelioma with severe deformity of the face in which we realized radical resection with restitution of anatomical units by local flaps. We consider that the multiple cases should be excised with total skin to avoid recurrence and obtain acceptable results

Experiencia en tumores glómicos en el Hospital General "Dr. Manuel Gea González" (México): Reporte de casos Experience in glomus tumors in the General Hospital "Dr. Gea González" (México): Case report

Los tumores glómicos fueron descritos en 1924; están formados por elementos vasculares, musculares y nerviosos por debajo de la uña y pueden afectar la regulación de la irrigación de la punta del dedo con el frío. Constituyen el 1-2% de los tumores de la mano. Aunque no se trata de una patología frecuente, el cirujano plástico debe estar familiarizado con ella para un diagnóstico y tratamiento adecuados. Presentamos la experiencia en tumores glómicos de la clínica de mano del Hospital Dr. Manuel Gea González; reportamos los hallazgos clínicos y el manejo en cada caso mediante resección quirúrgica y enfatizamos sobre la importancia de una exposición adecuada durante la cirugía para resecar el tumor completamente y evitar recidivas.<br>Glomus tumors were described in 1924; they involve vascular, muscle and nerve elements under the nail and can affect vascular supply of the finger tip. It represents 1-2% of hand tumors. Although it is not a common pathology, plastic surgeons must be familiarized to be able to diagnose and treat it properly. We present the experience of glomus tumor in our hand clinic at Hospital Dr. Manuel Gea González, reporting the clinical presentation and the surgical excision. We emphasize the importance of a good exposition of the tumor in the surgery for a complete excision and to avoid recurrences
