Graph-Facilitated Resonant Mode Counting in Stochastic Interaction Networks
Oscillations in a stochastic dynamical system, whose deterministic
counterpart has a stable steady state, are a widely reported phenomenon.
Traditional methods of finding parameter regimes for stochastically-driven
resonances are, however, cumbersome for any but the smallest networks. In this
letter we show by example of the Brusselator how to use real root counting
algorithms and graph theoretic tools to efficiently determine the number of
resonant modes and parameter ranges for stochastic oscillations. We argue that
stochastic resonance is a network property by showing that resonant modes only
depend on the squared Jacobian matrix , unlike deterministic oscillations
which are determined by . By using graph theoretic tools, analysis of
stochastic behaviour for larger networks is simplified and chemical reaction
networks with multiple resonant modes can be identified easily.Comment: 5 pages, 4 figure
Lyapunov Stability Analysis for Invariant States of Quantum Systems
In this article, we propose a Lyapunov stability approach to analyze the
convergence of the density operator of a quantum system. In contrast to many
previously studied convergence analysis methods for invariant density operators
which use weak convergence, in this article we analyze the convergence of
density operators by considering the set of density operators as a subset of
Banach space. We show that the set of invariant density operators is both
closed and convex, which implies the impossibility of having multiple isolated
invariant density operators. We then show how to analyze the stability of this
set via a candidate Lyapunov operator.Comment: A version of this paper has been accepted at 56th IEEE Conference on

The Impact of Cognitive Style Diversity on Implicit Learning in Teams
Organizations are increasingly looking for ways to reap the benefits of cognitive diversity for problem solving. A major unanswered question concerns the implications of cognitive diversity for longer-term outcomes such as team learning, with its broader effects on organizational learning and productivity. We study how cognitive style diversity in teams-or diversity in the way that team members encode, organize and process information-indirectly influences team learning through collective intelligence, or the general ability of a team to work together across a wide array of tasks. Synthesizing several perspectives, we predict and find that cognitive style diversity has a curvilinear-inverted U-shaped-relationship with collective intelligence. Collective intelligence is further positively related to the rate at which teams learn, and is a mechanism guiding the indirect relationship between cognitive style diversity and team learning. We test the predictions in 98 teams using ten rounds of the minimum-effort tacit coordination game. Overall, this research advances our understanding of the implications of cognitive diversity for organizations and why some teams demonstrate high levels of team learning in dynamic situations while others do not.
