    It's well known that more and more accurate methodologies and automatic tools are now available in the field of geometric survey and image processing and they constitute a fundamental instrument for cultural heritage knowledge and preservation; on the other side, very smart and precise numerical models are continuously improved and used in order to simulate the mechanical behaviour of masonry structures: both instruments and technologies are important part of a global process of knowledge which is at the base of any conservation project of cultural heritage. Despite the high accuracy and automation level reached by both technologies and programs, the transfer of data between them is not an easy task and defining the most reliable way to translate and exchange information without data loosing is still an open issue. The goal of the present paper is to analyse the complex process of translation from the very precise (and sometimes redundant) information obtainable by the modern survey methodologies for historic buildings (as laser scanner), into the very simplified (may be too much) schemes used to understand their real structural behaviour, with the final aim to contribute to the discussion on reliable methods for cultural heritage knowledge improvement, through empiricism

    Comunicação mercadológica versus comunicação para transferência de tecnologia na Embrapa: limites e instrumentos.

    As mudanças ocorridas no cenário agropecuário brasileiro, especialmente nos últimos 50 anos, propiciaram não apenas a criação e a evolução de instituições para o desenvolvimento do negócio agrícola, mas também a modernização e adequações constantes de áreas como Administração, Economia, Marketing, Comunicação e outras inseridas neste contexto. A Embrapa, empresa que surgiu em 1973, a partir das transformações econômicas, políticas e sociais no campo nas décadas anteriores, também apresentou e apresenta constante adequação, tanto estratégica quanto de gestão. Exemplo disso, são suas diretrizes de atuação ao longo dos anos, apresentadas por meio de seus Planos Diretores e Políticas. A comunicação na Embrapa, em particular, modificou-se sensivelmente, em cerca de 40 anos. Inicialmente pautada no modelo difusionista, realizada por pesquisadores das mais diversas áreas, transformou-se em uma base estratégica, orientada por modalidades estruturadas em objetivos de diferentes naturezas. Este trabalho busca avançar nas discussões sobre a caracterização de duas modalidades apresentadas nas três edições da Política de Comunicação da Embrapa: a Comunicação para Transferência de Tecnologia e a Comunicação Mercadológica. Quais são as práticas vivenciadas ao após o lançamento da primeira edição da política para a Empresa? Quais são os principais processos comunicacionais inerentes a cada modalidade? Essas questões são tratadas nesta monografia, a partir da análise bibliográfica acerca do tema e estudos de casos.     Auditing Radicalization Pathways on YouTube

    Non-profits, as well as the media, have hypothesized the existence of a radicalization pipeline on YouTube, claiming that users systematically progress towards more extreme content on the platform. Yet, there is to date no substantial quantitative evidence of this alleged pipeline. To close this gap, we conduct a large-scale audit of user radicalization on YouTube. We analyze 330,925 videos posted on 349 channels, which we broadly classified into four types: Media, the Alt-lite, the Intellectual Dark Web (I.D.W.), and the Alt-right. According to the aforementioned radicalization hypothesis, channels in the I.D.W. and the Alt-lite serve as gateways to fringe far-right ideology, here represented by Alt-right channels. Processing 72M+ comments, we show that the three channel types indeed increasingly share the same user base; that users consistently migrate from milder to more extreme content; and that a large percentage of users who consume Alt-right content now consumed Alt-lite and I.D.W. content in the past. We also probe YouTube's recommendation algorithm, looking at more than 2M video and channel recommendations between May/July 2019. We find that Alt-lite content is easily reachable from I.D.W. channels, while Alt-right videos are reachable only through channel recommendations.     Synthesis and characterization of fructosyltransferase from Aspergillus oryzae ipt-301 for high fructooligosaccharides production

    Fructooligosaccharides (FOS) are mainly produced by microbial fructosyltransferases (FTase, E.C.2.4.1.9), and Aspergillus oryzae IPT-301 has shown high fructosyl transferring and low hydrolytic activities, which leads to high FOS production yields, but the main operating parameters for its best performance have been scarcely studied. Thus, this work aimed to evaluate the cellular growth, production and characterization of mycelial and extracellular FTases by Aspergillus oryzae IPT-301. Experimental design showed that the extracellular FTase performance was optimized (high transfructosylation activity and low hydrolytic activity) for reaction pH 5.5 - 6.75 and temperature of 45-50 °C and was fitted by the Michaelis-Menten model, while the mycelial FTase showed better performance at pH below 6.5 and temperature above 46 °C and was better fitted by the Hill model.     Abstract Background: Several studies have demonstrated a link between cardiovascular disease (CVD) susceptibility and the genetic background of populations. Endothelial activation and dysfunction induced by oxidized low-density lipoprotein (ox-LDL) is one of the key steps in the initiation of atherosclerosis. The oxidized low density lipoprotein (lectin-like) receptor 1 (OLR1) gene is the main receptor of ox-LDL. We have previously characterized two polymorphisms (rs3736235 and rs11053646) associated with the risk for coronary artery disease (CAD) and acute myocardial infarction (AMI). Aim: Given their clinical significance, it is of interest to know the distribution of these variants in populations from different continents. Subjects and methods: A total of 1229 individuals from 17 different African, Asian and European populations was genotyped for the two considered markers. Results: The high frequencies of ancestral alleles in South-Saharan populations is concordant with the African origin of our species. The results highlight that African populations are closer to Asians, and clearly separated from the Europeans. Conclusion: The results confirm significant genetic structuring among populations and suggest a possible basis for varying susceptibility to CVD among groups correlated with the geographical location of populations linked with the migrations out of Africa, or with different lifestyle

    Implicit Regularization and Renormalization of QCD

    We apply the Implicit Regularization Technique (IR) in a non-abelian gauge theory. We show that IR preserves gauge symmetry as encoded in relations between the renormalizations constants required by the Slavnov-Taylor identities at the one loop level of QCD. Moreover, we show that the technique handles divergencies in massive and massless QFT on equal footing.Comment: (11 pages, 2 figures
