An investigation of Mt Svilaja, Neorić, UTM XJ23, confirmed the finding of species Crocus weldenii Hoppe & Fürnrohr, which in this habitat appears in three forms: f. weldenii, f. bicolor Pavletić Zi. & Trinajstić and f. lutescens Pulević. The locality of f. lutescens Pulević is the westernmost and southernmost finding of this form in Croatia. In the same habitat a population of Crocus tommasinianus Herbert was also found (the westernmost finding of this species in Croatia).Istraživanjem planine Svilaja, područja Neorić UTM XJ23 pronašli smo nalazište vrste Crocus weldenii Hoppe & Fürnrohr koja se na staništu javlja u tri forme: f. weldenii, f. bicolor Pavletić Zi.

The Hoppe tree is a family of randomly growing tree models, where the growth dynamic is given by the evolution of the Hoppe urn as follows: The distinguished ball that initializes the Hoppe urn corresponds to the root of the Hoppe tree. In the Hoppe urn this balls has probability proportional to a parameter theta>0 to be drawn, all other balls have probability proportional to 1. Whenever a ball is drawn it is placed back to the urn together with a new ball which corresponds to a node being inserted in the Hoppe tree as a child of the node that corresponds to the ball drawn. For the special case theta=1 the Hoppe tree coincides with the random recursive tree. We give asymptotic results on mean, variance and limit laws for the depth of nodes, the height, the path length and the number of leaves of the Hoppe tree and clarify the dependence upon the parameter theta.

Origin of ferromagnetism in Cs2_2AgF4_4: importance of Ag - F covalency

The magnetic nature of Cs2_{2}AgF4_{4}, an isoelectronic and isostructural analogue of La2_2CuO4_4, is analyzed using density functional calculations. The ground state is found to be ferromagnetic and nearly half metallic. We find strong hybridization of Ag-dd and F-pp states. Substantial moments reside on the F atoms, which is unusual for the halides and reflects the chemistry of the Ag(II) ions in this compound. This provides the mechanism for ferromagnetism, which we find to be itinerant in character, a result of a Stoner instability enhanced by Hund's coupling on the F

The genus Crocus L. in the Paklenica National Park

    Get PDF
No records have previously been available for the genus Crocus in the Paklenica National Park. In 1997 and 2000 three taxa from this genus were found in the Park area and at its fringes. They are: Crocus weldenii Hoppe et Fiirnrohr. C. malyi Vis., and C. vernus (L.) Hill. C. weldenii was found in mixed populations of its yellow-flowered and white-flowered plants (f. lutescens and f. weldenii). Paklenica is the most southern locality of the C. malyi so far

"Kometensplitter einer Biographie" & die vielstimmige Beweglichkeit der Kunst. Autofiktionales Erzählen in Felicitas HOPPEs Hoppe

In this thesis I examine in how far, or to which degree, the concept of autofiction can be applied to Felicitas Hoppe’s text Hoppe (2012). Since the coinage of the term ‘autofiction’ by Serge Doubrovsky in the 1970s, there have been many discussions and redefinitions of this possible genre. The discussions include questions regarding definitions of autobiography and the novel within the field of literary theory, as well as the depiction of fact and fiction. Moreover, they ask in how far the knowledge of the impossibility of capturing ‘reality’ via language technically turns any autobiography into autofiction. Various positions regarding these debates, including the thoughts and positions of scholars such as Philippe Lejeune, Serge Doubrovsky, Martina Wagner- Egelhaaf, and Frank Zipfel, are represented in the first part of this thesis. In the sections that follow, I show how Felicitas Hoppe’s Hoppe is a text that intertwines ‘factuality’ and ‘fiction’ in a way that it can be interpreted as either or indeed simultaneously both genres (doppeltes Leseangebot) in the sense of Frank Zipfel. I point out that from the paratextual features of Hoppe to the tripartite fission of ‘Hoppe’ – including the author HOPPE, the narrator ‘fh’, and the protagonist Felicitas Hoppe – the text allows and asks with its particular construction for new interpretations of identity and self-representation. Finally, I conclude with the assumption that Hoppe is a text that might not be completely captured with present available literary theories. However, the refusal of the text to being fully assigned to any one particular genre or typology remains one of the many strengths of Felicitas Hoppe’s Hoppe

Emitters of VHE γ-radiation as revealed by the H.E.S.S. Galactic plane survey

The High Energy Stereoscopic System (H.E.S.S.) – an array of four Imaging Atmospheric Cherenkov Telescopes located in the Khomas highlands of Namibia – explores the nonthermal universe by means of very-high-energy (VHE; >100GeV) γ-ray emission. Its high sensitivity and large field-of-view make it the ideal instrument for a survey of the Milky Way in VHE γ-rays. The H.E.S.S. Galactic Plane Scan resulted in the most complete view of our Galaxy achieved so far in this energy regime. The results of this extensive survey will be presented in this work. From the 45 VHE γ-ray sources detected so far within the Galactic Plane, a short summary is given for the 19 sources detected within the framework of this thesis and three representative sources were analyzed in even more detail: HESS J1912+101 was detected in the vicinity of an energetic pulsar, suggesting a pulsar wind nebula origin of the γ-ray emission. A clear signal of VHE γ-ray emission was also detected from RCW 86, a well-known shell-type supernova remnant. And finally, HESS J1708-441 was discovered in the vicinity of the well known pulsar PSR B1706-44, but cannot be clearly associated with this strong counterpart. As the energy spectra of these sources yield most valuable information about the processes at work in the underlying astrophysical objects, extensive studies of the spectral extraction method were performed to ensure their correct determination

    F. A. Hayek as an ordo-liberal

Friedrich August von Hayek (1899-1992) is undoubtedly one of the most significant liberal thinkers of the past century. Born and raised in Vienna in the tradition of the Austrian School, he held academic positions i.a. in London, Chicago and Freiburg, thus uniting in his vita the four principal centers of neo-liberalism. His intellectual development is of special interest, since he shifts the focus of his research agenda several times, most notably from the field of business cycle research towards the broader field of social philosophy. According to this well-known break in his oeuvre, there is a classical division in secondary literature, splitting him into the two phases: Hayek I (the business cycle theorist) and Hayek II (the social philosopher). The present paper will try to show that this two-fold division is inadequate, or at least incomplete. Instead, a three-fold division seems more appropriate: here, Hayek I would again be the business cycle theorist, but Hayek II is seen as an ordo-liberal philosopher and Hayek III as the evolutionist philosopher. Regarding the time-span of the latter phases, the paper contends that the ordoliberal Hayek is to be seen in the 1930s and 1940s (the time of The Road to Serfdom and the founding of the Mont Pèlerin Society), whereas his evolutionist phase starts in the 1950s and continues to the end of his life. --
