A coordinate-dependent superspace deformation from string theory

    Get PDF
Starting from a type II superstring model defined on R2,2×CY6R^{2,2}\times CY_6 in a linear graviphoton background, we derive a coordinate dependent CC-deformed N=1{\cal N}=1, d=2+2d=2+2 superspace. The chiral fermionic coordinates θ\theta satisfy a Clifford algebra, while the other coordinate algebra remains unchanged. We find a linear relation between the graviphoton field strength and the deformation parameter. The null coordinate dependence of the graviphoton background allows to extend the results to all orders in α′\alpha'.Comment: 14 pages, reference added, accepted for publication in JHE

Ricci dark energy in Chern-Simons modified gravity

In this work, we have considered the Ricci dark energy model, where the energy density of the universe is proportional to the Ricci scalar curvature, in the dynamic Chern-Simons modified gravity. We show that in this context the evolution of the scale factor is similar to that displayed by the modified Chaplygin gas.Comment: 7 pages; to appear in EPJ

On FRW Model in Conformal Teleparallel Gravity

In this paper we use the conformal teleparallel gravity to study an isotropic and homogeneous Universe which is settled by the FRW metric. We solve the field equations and we obtain the behavior of some cosmological parameters such as scale factor, deceleration parameter and the energy density of the perfect fluid which is the matter field of our model. The field equations, that we called modified Friedmann equations, allow us to define a dark fluid, with dark energy density and dark pressure, responsible for the acceleration in the Universe.Comment: Accepted in EPJ

A monopole solution from noncommutative multi-instantons

    Get PDF
We extend the relation between instanton and monopole solutions of the selfduality equations in SU(2) gauge theory to noncommutative space-times. Using this approach and starting from a noncommutative multi-instanton solution we construct a U(2) monopole configuration which lives in 3 dimensional ordinary space. This configuration resembles the Wu-Yang monopole and satisfies the selfduality (Bogomol'nyi) equations for a U(2) Yang-Mills-Higgs system.Comment: 19 pages; title and abstract changed, brane interpretation corrected. Vortex solutions of the Lifshitz-Chern-Simons theory

    Get PDF
We study vortex-like solutions to the Lifshitz-Chern-Simons theory. We find that such solutions exists and have a logarithmically divergent energy, which suggests that a Kostelitz-Thouless transition may occur, in which voxtex-antivortex pairs are created above a critical temperature. Following a suggestion made by Callan and Wilzcek for the global U(1) scalar field model, we study vortex solutions of the Lifshitz-Chern-Simons model formulated on the hyperbolic plane, finding that, as expected, the resulting configurations have finite energy. For completeness, we also explore Lifshitz-Chern-Simons vortex solutions on the sphere.Comment: Published version, added appendix on electromagnetic duality in Lifshitz system
