Se diagnosticó isquemia arterial aguda secundaria a ergotismo y se inició tratamiento con vasodilatadores y calcio-antagonistas, que resolvió los síntomas en su totalidad.21 years old female patient admitted for progressive and intense pain in lower limbs, that narrated a recent history of ergot ingestion. On physical examination there was absence of pulses in both lower limbs. Severe, generalized and bilateral decrease of caliber of arterial vessels of the lower limbs was documented by angiotomography. Acute arterial ischemia of lower limbs secondary to ergotism was diagnosed and treatment with vasodilators and calcium antagonists was initiated, resolving entirely the symptoms
Non-equilibrium Phase-Ordering with a Global Conservation Law
In all dimensions, infinite-range Kawasaki spin exchange in a quenched Ising
model leads to an asymptotic length-scale
at because the kinetic coefficient is renormalized by the broken-bond
density, . For , activated kinetics recovers the
standard asymptotic growth-law, . However, at all temperatures,
infinite-range energy-transport is allowed by the spin-exchange dynamics. A
better implementation of global conservation, the microcanonical Creutz
algorithm, is well behaved and exhibits the standard non-conserved growth law,
, at all temperatures.Comment: 2 pages and 2 figures, uses epsf.st

APOBEC-related mutagenesis and neo-peptide hydrophobicity: implications for response to immunotherapy.
Tumor-associated neo-antigens are mutated peptides that allow the immune system to recognize the affected cell as foreign. Cells carrying excessive mutation load often develop mechanisms of tolerance. PD-L1/PD-1 checkpoint immunotherapy is a highly promising approach to overcome these protective signals and induce tumor shrinkage. Yet, the nature of the neo-antigens driving those beneficial responses remains unclear. Here, we show that APOBEC-related mutagenesis - a mechanism at the crossroads between anti-viral immunity and endogenous nucleic acid editing - increases neo-peptide hydrophobicity (a feature of immunogenicity), as demonstrated by in silico computation and in the TCGA pan-cancer cohort, where APOBEC-related mutagenesis was also strongly associated with immune marker expression. Moreover, APOBEC-related mutagenesis correlated with immunotherapy response in a cohort of 99 patients with diverse cancers, and this correlation was independent of the tumor mutation burden (TMB). Combining APOBEC-related mutagenesis estimate and TMB resulted in greater predictive ability than either parameter alone. Based on these results, further investigation of APOBEC-related mutagenesis as a marker of response to anti-cancer checkpoint blockade is warranted
Hypermedia-based tutoring: methodology for the production of hypermedia resources through face-to-face tutoring
We present a methodology for creating hypermedia
materials derived from face-to-face tutoring sessions between a
tutor and graduate students. To create the hypermedia materials,
the tutor and the student used a smart pen which allowed to
record the conversation and digitalize the notes being taken. The
production of hypermedia material is based on the use of visual
representations and text to help students go from concrete to
abstract thinking and vice versa. We point out that hypermedia
materials are audio-visual narratives (i.e., dynamic graphics,
diagrams) that facilitate the representation of co-constructed
shared knowledge and let participants navigate between oral and
textual information. This methodology allows the production of
individualized material without investing additional time in
editing and designing. The hypermedia based tutoring (HBT)
model is highly valued by students since it helps them to go over
the discussions with the tutor and review the thinking process
that both constructed during the session. HBT becomes a creative
form of communicating and representing information that
challenges the tutor and student to develop new skills and ways of
thinking. The model that we propose here requires to change
traditional tutor and student roles and to create learning
experiences that do not overlook students’ needsThe eMadrid Excellence Network is funded by Madrid

Hispanic parent monitoring of seventh grade mathematics homework assignments and relationship with achievement and self-esteem.
The purpose of this dissertation was threefold: To determine if parental involvement in monitoring mathematics homework of seventh grade Hispanic students improved their achievement, to assess the effects of parental homework monitoring on the students\u27 self-esteem and to determine if the students\u27 perceptions of their teachers, their parents and their own involvement in mathematics homework changed after the monitoring experience. A total of 28 families/31 students participated in the study. A pretest-posttest control group design was used. The experimental group subjects\u27 parents received training in homework monitoring. The Computation section, Level 2 of the Mathematics subtest of the Stanford Achievement Test, the Coopersmith Self-Esteem Inventories and, a Student Mathematics Homework Perception Scale constructed by the researcher were used for pre and posttest measures of achievement, self-esteem and students\u27 perceptions. The students\u27 grades and the percentage of homework they completed and returned for the first three quarters were obtained from their mathematics teachers. Ten of the experimental group subjects\u27 families were interviewed at the end of the study. Statistical analysis revealed no significant differences between either the computation or the self-esteem posttest scores of the two groups. No significant differences were obtained for teachers\u27 grades and the percentage of homework completed and returned. However, the grades and percentage of homework completed and returned by the experimental group showed a trend in the expected direction. A significant difference was found (p .05) in the perception posttest scores of teacher involvement in mathematics homework. Significant negative correlations were found between parent level of education (p .05) and self-esteem measures and between teachers\u27 grades and self-esteem measures (p .05) for the experimental group. The home interviews revealed: Positive feelings and sense of closer relationship between parents and students, a heightened sense of responsibility for mathematics homework by parents and students in their respective roles, and conflictual issues between parents and students in following the homework monitoring program. Educational implications and suggestions for further research are discussed
