Mycoflora of fungal contamination in wheat storage (silos) in golestan province, north of Iran
Background: Cereal products are susceptible to mould damage during pre- and post-harvesting stages of the production. The regional specificity of Golestan province in the northern region of of Iran, with its high temperature and high relative humidity, acts as a leading factor for the growth of aflatoxin-producing fungi. It is well known that contamination of starch-based ingredients with mycotoxigenic fungi is a risk factor among the consumers due to its aflatoxins. Objectives: This survey was carried out to determine the extent of fungal contamination of wheat in three silos of Golestan province in Iran. Materials and Methods: 34 samples from three active silos were collected in order to clean the polyethylene bags. Wheat analyzed for fungal contamination and aflatoxins extracted by immunoaffinity column chromatography, and measured by HPLC method. Results: The most common moulds isolated were Alternaria spp. 26.7%, Aspergillus niger 21.4%, Fusarium spp. 17.8%, Aspergillus flavus 10.7%, Cladosporium spp. 10.7%, Penicillium spp. 8.9%, and Rhizopus spp. 3.5%. The screening of aflatoxin, B1, B2, G1 and G2 was carried out. 10(29.4%) samples of wheat had traces of aflatoxin, but in a level lower than the standard levels [Institute of Standards and Industrial Research of Iran (ISIR< 15 ng/g)]. Conclusions: Despite the lower detected aflatoxin levels (lower than the ISIR level), the fungal contamination rate could not be neglected. Since the isolated mycotoxigenic fungi such as Aspergillus spp. and Fusarium spp. are important in food industry, it would be possible that the increased retention time of samples might have raised the detected contamination rate. © 2013, Ahvaz Jundishapur University of Medical Sciences
Forecasting COVID-19 daily cases using phone call data
The need to forecast COVID-19 related variables continues to be pressing as
the epidemic unfolds. Different efforts have been made, with compartmental
models in epidemiology and statistical models such as AutoRegressive Integrated
Moving Average (ARIMA), Exponential Smoothing (ETS) or computing intelligence
models. These efforts have proved useful in some instances by allowing decision
makers to distinguish different scenarios during the emergency, but their
accuracy has been disappointing, forecasts ignore uncertainties and less
attention is given to local areas. In this study, we propose a simple Multiple
Linear Regression model, optimised to use call data to forecast the number of
daily confirmed cases. Moreover, we produce a probabilistic forecast that
allows decision makers to better deal with risk. Our proposed approach
outperforms ARIMA, ETS and a regression model without call data, evaluated by
three point forecast error metrics, one prediction interval and two
probabilistic forecast accuracy measures. The simplicity, interpretability and
reliability of the model, obtained in a careful forecasting exercise, is a
meaningful contribution to decision makers at local level who acutely need to
organise resources in already strained health services. We hope that this model
would serve as a building block of other forecasting efforts that on the one
hand would help front-line personal and decision makers at local level, and on
the other would facilitate the communication with other modelling efforts being
made at the national level to improve the way we tackle this pandemic and other
similar future challenges.Comment: 13 pages, 7 figure
Genotyping Echinococcus granulosus from dogs from Western Iran
Cystic echinococcosis is a zoonotic infection caused by the dog tapeworm, Echinococcus granulosus. In the present study, adults of E. granulosus (n = 20) were collected from 71 dogs from Western Iran and were genetically characterized using DNA sequencing of the partial mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase subunit 1 (cox1) and NADH dehydrogenase 1 (nad1). Consensus sequences were obtained for cox1 (366) and nad1 (471) genes. Phylogenetic analysis of concatenated nad1 and cox1 nucleotide sequence data was performed using Bayesian Inference approach. Overall, the dog isolates indicated nine different sequences in cox1 and seven in nad1 genes. Three genotypes (G1 [75%], G2 [10%] and G3 [15%]) were identified from the isolates. The G2 sequences indicated 100% homology with reference G2 sequence in both cox1 (Genbank accession number M84662) and nad1 (AJ237633) genes. G3 sequences showed 100% homology with G3 reference sequence in nad1 (AJ237633), but displayed two different cox1 profiles, each having 99% homology with reference G3 sequence (M84663). In the phylogenetic tree all of the isolates were grouped into a distinct cluster corresponding to the G1-G3 complex with relevant reference sequences. The presence of G1 genotype (sheep strain) of E. granulosus sensu stricto as dominant genotype in dogs is emphasized. To the best of our knowledge, this study established the first record of E. granulosus sensu stricto, G2 genotype in Iran. © 2012 Elsevier Inc

Factorization approach to generalized Dirac oscillators
We study generalized Dirac oscillators with complex interactions in (1+1) dimensions. It is shown that for the choice of interactions considered here, the Dirac Hamiltonians are pseudo Hermitian with respect to certain metric operators. Exact solutions of the generalized Dirac Oscillator for some choices of the interactions have also been obtained. It is also shown that generalized Dirac oscillators can be identified with Anti Jaynes Cummings type model and by spin flip it can also be identified with Jaynes Cummings type model
Survey of behavioral problems and sensory processing in children with attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder
Objectives: All individuals need to have the ability of appropriate sensory processing for proper functioning in the environment and participation in daily activities. Moreover, behavioral functions can be affected by sensory processing problems. This study aimed to determine the relationship between behavioral problems and sensory processing in 7 to 10 years old children with Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Methods: This descriptive (cross-sectional) study included 60 children with ADHD aged 7 to 10 years, who were referred to a comprehensive psychiatric center. Short Sensory Profile (SSP) and Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL) questionnaires were used for assessing the patterns of sensory processing and behavioral problems in the patients. Results: There was a negative correlation between internalizing behavioral problems (r=-0.426) and externalizing behavioral problems (r=-0.465), and the total score of sensory processing in ADHD children (P<0.05). Discussion: The findings of this study showed that some behaviors in children with ADHD could be due to certain defects in their sensory processing
