    Two destructive effects of decoherence on Bell inequality violation

    We consider a system of two spin-1/2 particles, initially in an entangled Bell state. If one of the particles is interacting with an environment (e.g. a collection of N independent spins), the two-particle system undergoes decoherence. Using a simple model of decoherence, we show that this process has two consequences. First, the maximal amount by which the CHSH inequality is violated decays to zero. Second, the set of directions of measurement for which the inequality is violated is reduced in the course of decoherence. The volume of that set is bounded above by C|r|^2, where r is the decoherence factor. We obtain similar results for the case when each of the two particles is in interaction with a separate environment.Comment: v2: added results for decoherence due to interactions of both particles + minor changes; v3: minor change

    Quantum corrections to spinning superstrings in AdS_3 x S^3 x M^4: determining the dressing phase

    We study the leading quantum string correction to the dressing phase in the asymptotic Bethe Ansatz system for superstring in AdS_3 x S^3 x T^4 supported by RR flux. We find that the phase should be different from the BES phase appearing in the AdS_5 x S^5 case. We use the simplest example of a rigid circular string with two equal spins in S^3 and also consider the general approach based on the algebraic curve description. We also discuss the case of the AdS_3 x S^3 x S^3 x S^1 theory and find the dependence of the 1-loop correction to the effective string tension function h(\lambda) (expected to enter the magnon dispersion relation) on the parameters alpha related to the ratio of the two 3-sphere radii. It aims to be a quick introduction to the state of the art in the field and a discussion of open problems. It is divided into short chapters devoted to different questions and techniques. Some new results, perspectives and speculations are also presented. We hope this might serve as a baseline for further studies of this topic

    Y-system for Scattering Amplitudes

    We compute N=4 Super Yang Mills planar amplitudes at strong coupling by considering minimal surfaces in AdS_5 space. The surfaces end on a null polygonal contour at the boundary of AdS. We show how to compute the area of the surfaces as a function of the conformal cross ratios characterizing the polygon at the boundary. We reduce the problem to a simple set of functional equations for the cross ratios as functions of the spectral parameter. These equations have the form of Thermodynamic Bethe Ansatz equations.     Contour deformation trick in hybrid NLIE

    The hybrid NLIE of AdS_5 x S^5 is applied to a wider class of states. We find that the Konishi state of the orbifold AdS_5 x (S^5/Z_S) satisfies A_1 NLIE with the source terms which are derived from contour deformation trick.     Konishi operator at intermediate coupling

    TBA equations for two-particle states from the sl(2) sector proposed by Arutyunov, Suzuki and the author are solved numerically for the Konishi operator descendent up to 't Hooft's coupling lambda ~ 2046. The data obtained is used to analyze the properties of Y-functions and address the issue of the existence of the critical values of the coupling.     The low-energy limit of AdS(3)/CFT2 and its TBA

    We investigate low-energy string excitations in AdS3 × S3 × T4. When the worldsheet is decompactified, the theory has gapless modes whose spectrum at low energies is determined by massless relativistic integrable S matrices of the type introduced by Al. B. Zamolodchikov. The S matrices are non-trivial only for excitations with identical worldsheet chirality, indicating that the low-energy theory is a CFT2. We construct a Thermodynamic Bethe Ansatz (TBA) for these excitations and show how the massless modes’ wrapping effects may be incorporated into the AdS3 spectral problem. Using the TBA and its associated Y-system, we determine the central charge of the low-energy CFT2 to be c = 6 from calculating the vacuum energy for antiperiodic fermions — with the vacuum energy being zero for periodic fermions in agreement with a supersymmetric theory — and find the energies of some excited states

    T-systems and Y-systems in integrable systems

They are difference equations having a variety of aspects related to commuting transfer matrices in solvable lattice models, q-characters of Kirillov-Reshetikhin modules of quantum affine algebras, cluster algebras with coefficients, periodicity conjectures of Zamolodchikov and others, dilogarithm identities in conformal field theory, difference analogue of L-operators in KP hierarchy, Stokes phenomena in 1d Schr\"odinger problem, AdS/CFT correspondence, Toda field equations on discrete space-time, Laplace sequence in discrete geometry, Fermionic character formulas and combinatorial completeness of Bethe ansatz, Q-system and ideal gas with exclusion statistics, analytic and thermodynamic Bethe ans\"atze, quantum transfer matrix method and so forth.     Generalized cusp in AdS_4 x CP^3 and more one-loop results from semiclassical strings

    We evaluate the exact one-loop partition function for fundamental strings whose world-surface ends on a cusp at the boundary of AdS_4 and has a "jump" in CP^3. This allows us to extract the stringy prediction for the ABJM generalized cusp anomalous dimension Gamma_{cusp}^{ABJM} (phi,theta) up to NLO in sigma-model perturbation theory. With a similar analysis, we present the exact partition functions for folded closed string solutions moving in the AdS_3 parts of AdS_4 x CP^3 and AdS_3 x S^3 x S^3 x S^1 backgrounds.
