    The Objective of Islamic Bank: a Case Study in Surakarta Region

    The purposes of this research were for exploring the perception of the Islamic Banking stakeholders relatedwith the objective of Islamic Banking that operated in the dual banking system, Indonesia and for measuringthe gap between the perception and expectation of the stakeholders toward the objective of Islamic bank. Theprimary data was collected by questionnaires. The Respondents were limited only in the Surakarta region.They were customers, lecturers, students, employees, bank managers, regulators, and ulama (Moslem religiousteachers). Factor analysis was conducted for grouping or classifying the variables into the same group whichhad the same characters while Kruskall Wallis test was used for examining the different perception among thestakeholders. At last, paired sample t-test was used to measure the gap between perception and expectationamong the stakeholders. The findings of this study were first, stakeholders concluded that social objective ofIslamic was more important than the commercial one; second, there was a significant different perception on theIslamic Banking objective among the stakeholders; and third, there was a gap between the perception andexpectation of the stakeholders about Islamic Banking objectives

    Characterization and Suitability Evaluation of Soils of a Toposequence at University of Agriculture Makurdi Teaching and Research Farm for the Production of Rice (Oryza sativa) in Makurdi, Benue State.

    A toposequence at University of Agriculture Makurdi Teaching and Research Farm, Benue state was detail surveyed to characterize, classify and assess the suitability of the soils for sustainable rice production. Critical land and soil requirements for rice production were related with data obtained from both field and laboratory studies. The results showed that the soils had sandy loam to clay textures; weak fine crumb to strong coarse subangular blocky structure and friable to very firm consistency. All pedons except 1 had redoximorphic properties. Soil reaction ranged from slightly (6.0) to moderately acid (5.0), organic carbon (0.18-.55%). Total nitrogen and phosphorus were inadequate with low exchangeable cations and micro-nutrients. Pedon 1 was classified as Lithic Ustropept (Plinthic Cambisol (Eutric, Rhodic)) while 11 and 111 were keyed into Typic Plinthudalfs (Eutric, Plinthosols (Clayic, Greyic)). Land characteristics (mean annual rainfall, temperature, relative humidity, topography, coarse fragments and base saturation) were not major limitations for rice production however, there was no highly (S1) or moderately suitable (S2) land for rice cultivation. Productivity index (IPc) ranged between 3.10 and 10.08, and were thus currently not suitable for both upland and lowland rice cultivation by assessments of the two models. Linear model of IPp (17.55-21.06) for upland rice and (11.36) in pedon 1 for lowland rice, showed the soils were currently not suitable for rice cultivation but pedons 11 (29.25) and 111 (37.05) were marginally suitable for lowland rice cultivation. The square root model index of productivity had IPp of 21.77 in pedon 1, 26.12 in 11 and 28.37 in pedon 111. Thus, pedon 1 was currently not suitable; pedons 11 and 111 were marginally suitable for upland rice. Pedon 1 IPp (11.91) was currently not suitable whereas pedons 11 (36.79) and pedon 111 IPp (31.820) were marginally suitable for lowland rice cultivation. The soils' major limitations were the low levels of macro and micronutrients. Management techniques including continuous organic matter incorporation and mineral fertilizers application to the land will adjust the soils structure and boast their fertility level

    Adaptive Neuro Fuzzy Technique for Speed Control of Six-Step Brushless DC Motor

    The brushless DC motors with permanent magnets (PM-BLDC) are widely used in a miscellaneous of industrial applications. In this paper, The adaptive neuro fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) controller for Six-Step Brushless DC Motor Drive is introduced. The brushless DC motor’s dynamic characteristics such as torque , current , speed, , and inverter component voltages are showed and analysed using MATLAB simulation. The  propotional-integral (PI) and fuzzy system controllers  are developed., based on designer’s test and error process and experts. The  experimential and hardware resuts for the inverter- driver circuits are presented. The simulation results using MATLAB simulink are conducted to validate the proposed (ANFIS) controller’s robustness and high performance relative to other controllers

    CP-odd Phase Correlations and Electric Dipole Moments

    We revisit the constraints imposed by electric dipole moments (EDMs) of nucleons and heavy atoms on new CP-violating sources within supersymmetric theories. We point out that certain two-loop renormalization group corrections induce significant mixing between the basis-invariant CP-odd phases. In the framework of the constrained minimal supersymmetric standard model (CMSSM), the CP-odd invariant related to the soft trilinear A-phase at the GUT scale, theta_A, induces non-trivial and distinct CP-odd phases for the three gaugino masses at the weak scale. The latter give one-loop contributions to EDMs enhanced by tan beta, and can provide the dominant contribution to the electron EDM induced by theta_A. We perform a detailed analysis of the EDM constraints within the CMSSM, exhibiting the reach, in terms of sparticle spectra, which may be obtained assuming generic phases, as well as the limits on the CP-odd phases for some specific parameter points where detailed phenomenological studies are available.     Discovery of a 6.4 keV Emission Line in a Burst from SGR 1900+14

    We present evidence of a 6.4 keV emission line during a burst from the soft gamma-ray repeater SGR 1900+14. The Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer (RXTE) monitored this source extensively during its outburst in the summer of 1998. A strong burst observed on August 29, 1998 revealed a number of unique properties. The burst exhibits a precursor and is followed by a long (~ 1000 s) tail modulated at the 5.16 s stellar rotation period. The precursor has a duration of 0.85 s and shows both significant spectral evolution as well as an emission feature centered near 6.4 keV during the first 0.3 s of the event, when the X-ray spectrum was hardest. The continuum during the burst is well fit with an optically thin thermal bremsstrahlung (OTTB) spectrum with the temperature ranging from about 40 to 10 keV. The line is strong, with an equivalent width of 400 eV, and is consistent with Fe K-alpha fluorescence from relatively cool material. If the rest-frame energy is indeed 6.4 keV, then the lack of an observed redshift indicates that the source is at least 80 km above the neutron star surface.     Snake orbits and related magnetic edge states

    We study the electron motion near magnetic field steps at which the strength and/or sign of the magnetic field changes. The energy spectrum for such systems is found and the electron states (bound and scattered) are compared with their corresponding classical paths. Several classical properties as the velocity parallel to the edge, the oscillation frequency perpendicular to the edge and the extent of the states are compared with their quantum mechanical counterpart. A class of magnetic edge states is found which do not have a classical counterpart.Comment: 8 pages, 10 figure

    The Relationship of Radiological Value and Functional Scale of Lower Motion Devices in Patients with Bone Defects Given Synthetic Bone Graft and BMP2

    Background: Broken bones in a severe lower motion device, especially those associated with a bone defect, often fail or are slow to fuse. The possibility of non-union in patients triggering clinicians to use bone-grafting as part of a procedure aims at achieving the union. The Gold Standard is to use autogenous bone graft, but it actually has some disadvantages. To overcome this, there are alternative measures of bone grafting. Hydroxyapatite is known to be synthetic bonegraft which has good osteoconductive properties. For hydroxyapatite, it has been widely used and easily available. Bone morphogenetic proteins (BMPs) are the family of osteo-inductive proteins in the bone matrix. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of synthetic bone graft and BMP-2 as a bonegraft in the process of bone healing with "bone defect" in long bones by evaluating the process of radiological closure of defects and clinical bone healing process.Subjects and Method: This was a cross sectional study. A sample of 20 patients with bone defect in the tibia and femur was selected for this study. An evaluation of radiological defect closure was evaluated using a calculation system using the FDA-determined radiological evaluation method and a periodic lower function of the LEFS (Lower Extremity Functional Scale) every 2 months up to the 6th month. The statistical tests were performed using linear regression.Results: There is a negative relationship between the radiological value and the functional scale of the lower motion device (b = -1.26; p = 0.001). There is an improvement in bone defect closure and clinical functional improvement in patients who performed a synthetic bonegraft closure action added by BMP-2 as well. The evaluation is carried out through radiological calculations that show a periodically reduced size of the defect which affects the increase in the value of the functional scale of the lower motion device.Conclusions: There is a negative relationship between radiological values and functional scale of lower motion devices in patients with bone defect in the tibia bone or femur given synthetic bone graft and Bmp2.Keywords: bone defects, synthetic bone grafts and BMP-2, LEFSCorrespondence:Farid Ibrahim.
