    Model Simulation of Soybean (Glycine Max (L.) Merrill) Growth by Energy Balance Approach

    Intercepted solar radiation by leaf will influence energy balance in plant. The energy balance in leaf is a complex process, which results in biomass growth. Here, we modeled leaf energy balance to estimate dry matter growth in soybean. In the field, we measured intercepted radiation in canopy (1 meter above surface) with two treatments: soybean with 50% shading (N50%M0) and no-shading (N0%M0) twice a week. Then we sampled a biomass with destructive technique every week in each treatment. Our results showed that the intercepted radiation in no-shading treatment was higher (400 J/m2) than those in shading one (250 J/m2). The results were consistence with the high biomass growth at 12 weeks after planting, which observed in no-shading treatment. Then we validated our model by 1:1 plot test. Our finding revealed that no-shading treatment showed a good agreement with the observed biomass (closed to 1:1 plot), whereas the shading treatment tended to predict under estimate of biomass

    Construction dynamic model soil – water that describes relationships between crop growth and development and environmental factors (weather and soil) can be further developed to be employed as a decision support tool . The objectives of the research : (1) to know interaction of factor weather , soil, castor oil crop, (2) construction dynamic model soil – water , (3) monitoring water deficit factor at level of water irrigation. The research consisted field observation and construction model. The experimental results were used to determine quantitative relationships to obtain model parameters, calibration, and validation. This research was conducted in field experimental station of Balitpa Sukamandi, and it was arranged in split plot design with three replications. Two variety of castor oil as main plot design were : (1) ASB 81, (2) ASB 60. Three levels of water irrigation as sub plot design were : (1) No water irrigation, (2) ½ ETp, (3) 1 ETp. Field measurements included weather variables, soil, and crop. The t-test does not indicate significant difference between observed and predicted soil water content. The model is valid and reasonably well for predicting soil water content as long as castor growth . The dynamic model soil-water can be employed as a decision support tool in the management of castor oil plantations in Indonesia

    The damping effect to the DNA bubble is investigated within the Peyrard-Bishop model. In the continuum limit, the dynamics of the bubble of DNA is described by the damped nonlinear Schrodinger equation and studied by means of variational method. It is shown that the propagation of solitary wave pattern is not vanishing in a non-viscous system.     The symmetry breaking of 5-dimensional SU(6) GUT into 4-dimensional SU(3) x SU(3) x U(1) with orbifold S1/Z2 through Scherk-Schwarz mechanism is investigated. It is shown that the origin of Little Higgs can be generated to further break SU(3) x SU(3) x U(1) down to the electroweak scale through Higgs mechanism.Comment: 4 page

    Proton decay within 5-dimensional SU(6) GUT with orbifold S^1/Z_2 breaking is investigated using Scherk-Schwarz mechanism. It is shown that in the model neither leptoquark like heavy gauge bosons nor violation of baryon number conservation are allowed due to the orbifold breaking parity splitting.     Extracting physical observables using macroscopic ensemble in the spex-mixer/mill simulation

    A technique to simulate the spex-mixer/mill system as a macroscopic ensemble rather than a pure dynamical system is proposed. The treatment is suitable especially for comminution processes generating the nanomaterial up to nanometers scale where the geometrical displacements are unobservable. It is argued that the method is simple and experimentally verifiable since relevant physical observables can be extracted using partition function without solving the equation of motions.Comment: 6 page
