Der Zerfall der sowjetischen Organisationsgesellschaft hat vielfältige Veränderungen in Gang gesetzt. Evelyn Moser perspektiviert diese Veränderungen mithilfe der Differenzierungstheorie und der Theorie der Weltgesellschaft. Auf der Grundlage ethnographischer Feldforschung untersucht sie die Umstellungen und Neuordnungen, die sich im Kontext von politischer Dezentralisierung und landwirtschaftlicher Privatisierung vollziehen und die Transformationsgesellschaft im ländlichen Russland kennzeichnen. Zu beobachten ist lokale Kontingenz im Horizont der Weltgesellschaft: Änderungsabsichten müssen Engpässe passieren, Normalitätserwartungen verschieben sich und neue Anschlussmöglichkeiten entstehen

The long-term energy policy of the Canton of Zurich aims on maintaining respectively enabling a high, but eco-friendly living standard. Until 2050 the CO2 emissions are to be reduced from today approximately 6.0 tonnes per year and person down to 2.2 tonnes. By 2034, all remaining nuclear power plants in Switzerland, some of them among the oldest in Europe, will be taken of the grid (in accordance with the new political decision taken by the Swiss Federal Council in the wake of the Fukushima desaster). The overall target is therefore the transformation of the energy supply from a nuclear and hydropower based to a more sustainable one. Security of supply is often identified as one of the principle challenges in this context. For all these aspects, support and promotion of Innovation beyond R&D is a key relevance as well. The smart city concept is not only multi-dimensional but also future-oriented in tackling energy consumption and CO2 emissions. It follows an urban development strategy whereby focussing on how (Internet-related) technologies enhance the lives of citizens, empowering them for contributing to urban change and realizing their ambitions

Landwirtschaft und ländlicher Raum - Der lange Weg von der Privatisierung zum Markt

Der Enttäuschung über die ausbleibende Entwicklung marktwirtschaftlicher Strukturen im ländlichen Raum liegt häufig ein doppeltes Missverständnis zu Grunde: Erstens wird Privatisierung primär als die formale Schaff ung individualisierter Eigentumsrechte und nicht als Etablierung neuer sozialer Praktiken verstanden. Zweitens erscheint "Markt" als die natürliche Folge dieser Eigentumsrechte und nicht als das Ergebnis wesentlich komplexerer Veränderungen, für die Privateigentum nur ein Faktor unter vielen ist. Die Neuaushandlung des Verhältnisses zwischen privatisierten Großbetrieben, der Gemeindeverwaltung und den Haushalten im ländlichen Raum im Rahmen der Einführung einer lokalen Selbstverwaltung 2006-2009 stellt aus dieser Perspektive nur die jüngste Phase eines lang andauernden Marketization-Prozesses dar

Technologien auf dem Prüfstand : neu entwickeltes Indikatorenset zur Bewertung der Stromproduktion anhand der Ziele der Energiestrategie 2050

Wie sind die verschiedenen Stromproduktionstechnologien im Hinblick auf die Energiewende zu bewerten? Welchen Beitrag können sie leisten? Ausgehend von diesen Fragen hat ein Forschungsteam der ZHAW ein Set von Bewertungs-Indikatoren entwickelt. Dieses stützt sich auf die in der Energiestrategie 2050 definierten Leitlinien Sicherheit, Wirtschaftlichkeit und Umweltverträglichkeit. Im Sinne einer ganzheitlichen Betrachtung wurde zudem der Aspekt der Gesellschaftsverträglichkeit hinzugefügt

Democratic and Authoritarian Political Systems in 21st Century World Society

This book is about the radical novelty of modern polities in a functionally differentiated world society. Premodern states were at the apex of a stratified, hierarchical society. They dominated society and all its groups and strata. Modern polities have to be understood through the ecology of relations among different function systems. They have to find and incessantly redefine their place in society. They produce decisions that are collectively binding, but in preparing these decisions experience constraints and knowledge deficiencies that are related to the complexity of a functionally differentiated society. The book concentrates on six analytical perspectives that reflect how modern polities are embedded into 21st century society. These perspectives are: the concept of inclusion and the inclusion revolution constitutive of modern polities; the internal differentiation of polities that endows them with an unprecedented complexity; the fact that polities do not know anything about society and the ways in which they compensate for this; representation and responsiveness as strategies to reconnect with society; the self-restriction of some polities that brings about ever new autonomous expert organizations; the symmetrical rise of autocracies and democracies as the two modern variants of political regimes

Favouring behavioural change of household’s energy consumption through social media and cooperative play

A change in how individuals consume energy is a key step in fighting climate change since it represents a crucial contribution to a more collective and sustainable lifestyle adoption. To carry out such process, designers and scientists are seeking new ways to increase public discussion and social involvement in energy reduction issues. In relation to this, the emphasis is on raising collective awareness to enable behavioural change and to inspire people in making sustainable decisions on energy consumption. This article draws on techniques and approaches from social science, gameful design and sustainability. It defines and discusses cooperative play as a privileged path for developing energy-related mobile applications. We present here an overview of multiple perspectives, in terms of content and methodology, to contribute to elaborating design methodologies that can favour behavioural change on households’ energy consumption

Ein smartes Quartier vernetzt auf intelligente Weise die Bewohner und Bewohnerinnen, sowie Gewerbe, Logistik und Warenströme, um auf nachhaltige Weise eine hohe Lebensqualität zu schaffen.Die soziale Vernetzung unter den Quartierbewohnerinnen und Quartierbewohnern ermöglicht eine Sharing-Kultur und ist eine Bereicherung im alltäglichen Leben. Der Verkehr ist intelligent und die Warenströme sind effizient organisiert, Energie und natürliche Ressourcen werden dabei nachhaltig produziert und verantwortungsvoll genutzt. Informations- und  Kommunikationstechnologien werden dort eingesetzt, wo sie zur Lebensqualität und einer effizienten Organisation beitragen. Um dieser Idee näher zu kommen, braucht es einen koordinierten Prozess und gute Ideen für smarte Quartierprojekte. Dieser Leitfaden richtet sich an Genossenschaften und andere Akteure der Quartierentwicklung und soll Ideen für smarte Massnahmen im Quartier, sowie Anstösse für die Prozessgestaltung und Umsetzung bereitstellen

ErbB2 (HER2)-CAR-NK-92 cells for enhanced immunotherapy of metastatic fusion-driven alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma

IntroductionMetastatic rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS) is a challenging tumor entity that evades conventional treatments and endogenous antitumor immune responses, highlighting the need for novel therapeutic strategies. Applying chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) technology to natural killer (NK) cells may offer safe, effective, and affordable therapies that enhance cancer immune surveillance. MethodsHere, we assess the efficacy of clinically usable CAR-engineered NK cell line NK-92/5.28.z against ErbB2-positive RMS in vitro and in a metastatic xenograft mouse model.ResultsOur results show that NK-92/5.28.z cells effectively kill RMS cells in vitro and significantly prolong survival and inhibit tumor progression in mice. The persistence of NK-92/5.28.z cells at tumor sites demonstrates efficient antitumor response, which could help overcome current obstacles in the treatment of solid tumors.DiscussionThese findings encourage further development of NK-92/5.28.z cells as off-the-shelf immunotherapy for the treatment of metastatic RMS
