Model Style Guidelines for Embedded Code Generation
International audienceEmbedded systems are increasingly being developed using models. These models may have started with the system engineer or algorithm developer as an executable specification or algorithm description. However, these models also now serve as the entry point for software engineering, thanks to automatic embedded code generation. As a result, software engineers want to take advantage of these same models, adding constraints on system behavior; describing characteristics that are needed for implementation, such as fixed-point details; or linking components in the design to relevant parts of requirements and specification documents. This paper describes model style guidelines for automatically generating fixed-point and floating-point code for embedded systems. The guidelines are based on best practices and techniques derived from actual industry examples in aerospace and automotive companies worldwide
The Role of Activists in the News Coverage of the Case of Philando Castile
University of Minnesota M.A. thesis. August 2017. Major: Journalism. Advisor: Amy O'Connor. 1 computer file (PDF); iv, 152 pages. This paper examines the role of activists and social media in the news coverage of the controversial death of Philando Castile at the hands of police. Using the agenda-building framework, this paper found that no relationship existed between news coverage and the tweets of Black Lives Matter activists. The results of this paper suggest that journalists continue to use elite and official sources in constructing news narratives. This paper also supports previous research that suggests that journalists use social media in their news reporting, signaling a change in norms and routines. The implications of these findings for journalism, news consumers, and activist movements are discussed

Safety-Critical Software Development Using Automatic Production Code Generation
When developing software it is important to consider process, methods, and tools. For safety-critical software, standards such as IEC 61508 are often used to impose additional constraints on the development process and require the production of verification evidence and other artifacts. These constraints and artifacts are needed whether or not the design and code were produced manually or via tool automation. This paper discusses the usage of Production Code Generation for safety-critical software development

Clinical Neurology and Epidemiology of the Major Neurodegenerative Diseases
Neurodegenerative diseases are a common cause of morbidity and cognitive impairment in older adults. Most clinicians who care for the elderly are not trained to diagnose these conditions, perhaps other than typical Alzheimer's disease (AD). Each of these disorders has varied epidemiology, clinical symptomatology, laboratory and neuroimaging features, neuropathology, and management. Thus, it is important that clinicians be able to differentiate and diagnose these conditions accurately. This review summarizes and highlights clinical aspects of several of the most commonly encountered neurodegenerative diseases, including AD, frontotemporal dementia (FTD) and its variants, progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP), corticobasal degeneration (CBD), Parkinson's disease (PD), dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB), multiple system atrophy (MSA), and Huntington's disease (HD). For each condition, we provide a brief overview of the epidemiology, defining clinical symptoms and diagnostic criteria, relevant imaging and laboratory features, genetics, pathology, treatments, and differential diagnosis
