WOS: 000337157600005Solar combisystem is a hot-topic since 1998 by the help of broad participation TASK-26 project in Europa and USA. The aim of this study is to determine energetic and exergetic analysis results of implemented solar combisystem in Turkey. Experimental system is built up and internal working parameters, external system parameters are measured between 1 and 31 January 2011. Totally, 544 Wh/day electrical energy is consumed to provide comfort conditions, 86% energy saving is achieved and maximum instantaneous collector efficiency is observed as 52%. The system, is supplied the energy demand that is needed to provide comfort conditions of the space and reached the values of overall system exergy efficiency between 1% and 16%. The values of inlet vertical temperature distribution are found between (20 +/- 2 degrees C)

Superposition of lung metastases of prostate adenocarcinoma on heart as a cardiac metastases: A case report

    No full text
Background: Primary or secondary malignancies of the heart is rare and difficult to diagnosis. Most cardiac masses are detected incidentally. Positron emission tomography-computed tomography, thorax computed tomography are valuable tools for staging the disease of patient with a history of malignancy. As prognosis is poor, if a physician suspects a suspicious metastasis on heart, it must evaluated carefully in order to prompt therapeutic interventions. Herein. we report a false-positive positron emission tomography-computed tomography finding which was superposition of lung metastasis of prostate adenocarcinoma via confirming by thorax computed tomography and echocardiography. Case report: A 71-year-old man diagnosed with prostate adenocarcinoma presented with a mass on the posterior-anterior lung graphy after 8 years of the diagnosis date. Positron emission tomography-computed tomography, thorax computed tomography, echocardiography, fine needle aspiration biopsies were performed in order to reveal the final diagnose. Although positron emission tomography-computed tomography revealed a cardiac metastasis, the other tools showed that it was not cardiac metastasis but lung metastasis of prostate adenocarcinoma. Conclusion: A patient with a history of malignancy and clinical cardiac symptoms must be evaluated carefully in order to prevent a false-positive findings and to prompt therapeutic interventions

The effect of the gastrectomy on survival in patients with metastatic gastric cancer: a study of ASMO

    No full text
Aim: To investigate the role of surgical resection of primary tumor on overall survival (OS) in advanced gastric cancer patients at the time of diagnosis. Patients & methods: The survival rates of metastatic gastric cancer patients whose gastric primary tumor was resected at time of diagnosis were compared with metastatic gastric cancer patients whose primary tumor was nonresected. Results: The median progression-free survival and OS in operated and nonoperated group were 10 versus 6, 14 versus 9 months, respectively (p < 0.001). In multivariate analysis, gastric resection of primary tumor, Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group performance status, second-line chemotherapy had a significant effect on OS (hazard ratio [HR]: 0.52 [95% CI: 0.38-0.71], HR: 0.57 [95% CI: 0.42-0.78], HR: 1.48 [1.09-2.01]; p <= 0.001, p = 0.001 and p = 0.012, respectively). Conclusion: Subpopulations of patients with metastatic gastric cancer might benefit from surgical removal of primary tumor
