Constituents of a hit parade: Questioning democracy and listener participation in P4 i P1âs Det elektriske barometer
Due to their historically inaccessible nature, public service broadcastersâ media archives have lent themselves primarily to internal refl ection while historical contextualisation of the cultural heritage in these archives has been broadcastersâ prerogative. In this study, digitised material from the Danish youth radio programme P4 i P1âs Det elektriske barometer forms the basis for an experiment into how access to digital archives can inform humanities scholarship. We argue that one important implication of the new digital archives is that they enable approaches independent of broadcastersâ own narratives since they off er the possibility for autonomous study of large quantities of material. The character of listener participation in Det elektriske barometer, which had the slogan âthe listener-determined hit paradeâ, is approached from a micro-, meso-, and macro-level employing Carpentierâs concept of participation (2011b), to explore how diff erent approaches to digital archives can provide new answers to mediaâs self-presentation
BIOMECHANICAL REFLECTIONS ON TEACHING FAST MOTOR SKILLS
Learning to perform a novel movement is believed to require the formation of an internal motor memory model in the central nervous system. This internal model is subsequently used to control the movement, i.e. coordinate muscle generated moments with nonmuscle generated moments in order to execute the intended movement. A substantial part of the non-muscle generated moments acting on each segment in a fast unloaded movement arises due to movement of adjacent segments. If a complex novel movement is taught either in slow motion or by splitting it into partial movements, these intersegmental moments will not be present, and hence not accounted for in the internal motor memory model. It is suggested that coaches take this into account when methods for teaching fast motor skills are considered
Personality Disorder in Childhood and Adolescence comes of Age: a Review of the Current Evidence and Prospects for Future Research
In this article, the authors provide a narrative review of the mounting evidence base on personality disorder in childhood and adolescence. Topics covered include diagnostic validity, prevalence, developmental issues, comorbidity, risk and protective factors, and treatment. Novel indicated prevention and early intervention programs for borderline personality disorder in adolescence are given special priority. To conclude, directions for future research are provided
