    Trends in the development of composite reinforced concrete structures of pedestrian aboveground overpasses

    Pedestrian bridges are an important part of the urban infrastructure that ensures the safety and comfort of pedestrians. They have a number of distinctive features compared to road bridges. Also, the pedestrian load itself has a significant dynamic component, which can lead to the occurrence of resonant phenomena. Composite reinforced concrete bridges are widely used among the road bridges. This is due to the possibility of including the roadway structure in the act, which increases the load-bearing capacity and reliability of the structure. The same advantages are typical for pedestrian aboveground overpasses. However, pedestrian bridges have a number of features that affect the operation of the composite reinforced concrete structure. It is well-known that the difference between bending structures in civil construction and bending structures in bridge and road construction is the ratio of the rigidness of the concrete and steel parts. The load on pedestrian aboveground overpasses is similar to the temporary load in civil buildings, adjusted for a large dynamic component. But at the same time, the spans of pedestrian aboveground overpasses are similar to the spans of road bridges. In this article, the prospects for the development of composite reinforced concrete structures of pedestrian overpasses are reviewed

    In the novel stoichiometric iron-based material RbEuFe4As4 superconductivity coexists with a peculiar long-range magnetic order of Eu 4f states; their coexistance is puzzling and represents a challenge for both experiment and theory. Using angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy, resonant photoemission spectroscopy, Andreev reflection spectroscopy and scanning tunneling spectroscopy we have addressed this puzzle and unambigously shown that Fe- and Eu-derived states are largely decoupled and that superconducting and a long range magnetic orders exist almost independently from each other

    Searches for New Particles, Dark Matter, and Gravitational Waves with SRF Cavities

    International audienceThis is a Snowmass white paper on the utility of existing and future superconducting cavities to probe fundamental physics. Superconducting radio frequency (SRF) cavity technology has seen tremendous progress in the past decades, as a tool for accelerator science. With advances spear-headed by the SQMS center at Fermilab, they are now being brought to the quantum regime becoming a tool in quantum science thanks to the high degree of coherence. The same high quality factor can be leveraged in the search for new physics, including searches for new particles, dark matter, including the QCD axion, and gravitational waves. We survey some of the physics opportunities and the required directions of R&D. Given the already demonstrated integration of SRF cavities in large accelerator systems, this R&D may enable larger scale searches by dedicated experiments
