    No full text
The molecule of the title compound, C19H23NO, contains two phenyl rings and a piperidinyl ring. The dihedral angle between the phenyl rings is 40.99 (5)degrees. The piperidine ring has a chair conformation. There is an intramolecular O-H...N hydrogen bond

Size dependence of the pressure-induced Ī³ to Ī± structural phase transition in iron oxide nanocrystals

The size trend for the pressure-induced Ī³-Feā‚‚Oā‚ƒ (maghemite) to Ī±-Feā‚‚Oā‚ƒ (haematite) structural phase transition in nanocrystals has been observed. The transition pressure was found to increase with decreasing nanocrystal size: 7 nm nanocrystals transformed at 27 Ā± 2 GPa, 5 nm ones at 34 Ā± 3 GPa and 3 nm ones at 37 Ā± 2 GPa. Annealing of a bulk sample of Ī³-Feā‚‚Oā‚ƒ was found to reduce the transition pressure from 35 Ā± 2 to 24 Ā± 2 GPa. The bulk modulus was determined as 262 Ā± 6 GPa for 7 nm nanocrystals of Ī³-Feā‚‚Oā‚ƒ, which is significantly higher than the value of 190 Ā± 6 GPa that we measured for bulk samples. For Ī±-Feā‚‚Oā‚ƒ, the bulk moduli for 7 nm nanocrystals (336 Ā± 5) and the bulk (300 Ā± 30) were found to be almost the same within error. The bulk modulus for the Ī³ phase was found to decrease with decreasing particle size between 10 and 3.2 nm particle size. Values for the ambient pressure molar volume were found within 1% to be: 33.0 cm3 molā»Ā¹ for bulk Ī³-Feā‚‚Oā‚ƒ; 32.8 cmĀ³ molā»Ā¹ for 7 nm diameter Ī³-Feā‚‚Oā‚ƒ nanocrystals; 30.7 cmĀ³ molā»Ā¹ for bulk Ī±-Feā‚‚Oā‚ƒ; and 30.6 cmĀ³ molā»Ā¹ for Ī±-Feā‚‚Oā‚ƒ nanocrystals.6 page(s

Why provide music therapy in the community for adults with mental health problems?

    No full text
This paper describes music therapy within a community mental health setting for adults using a care programme approach in England. It describes the setting, and emphasises the importance of multidisciplinary teamwork in order to enable music therapy to be effective. It provides some statistics and descriptive clinical information which demonstrate the efficacy of music therapy for adults with long-term mental health problems, and argues that music therapy should be apriority for this client group. To support these points of view, the article includes a case study showing a psychoanalytically informed approach in music therapy. This paper was given as a keynote address at the 1994 Australian Conference of Music Therapy
