Modeling dynamics and stability of 5-axis milling processes
5-axis milling is an important machining process for several industries such as aero-space, automotive and die/mold. It is mainly used in machining of sculptured surfaces where surface quality is of extreme importance. Being one of the most important prob-lems in machining, chatter vibrations must be avoided in manufacturing of these com-ponents as they result in high cutting forces, poor surface finish and unacceptable part quality. Chatter free cutting conditions for required quality with higher productivity can be determined by using stability models. Up to now, dynamic milling and stability models have been developed for 3-axis milling operations; however the stability of 5-axis proc-esses has never been modeled. In this paper, a stability model for 5-axis milling opera-tions is proposed. The model can consider the 3D dynamics of the 5-axis milling proc-ess including effects of all important process parameters including lead and tilt angles. Due to the complex geometry and mechanics of the process, the resulting analytical equations are solved numerically in order to generate the stability diagrams
Current progress achieved in novel materials for supercapacitor electrodes: mini review
Supercapacitors are highly attractive for a large number of emerging mobile devices for addressing energy storage and harvesting issues. This mini review presents a summary of recent developments in supercapacitor research and technology, including all kinds of supercapacitor design techniques using various electrode materials and production methods. It also covers the current progress achieved in novel materials for supercapacitor electrodes. The latest produced EDLC/hybrid/pseudo-supercapacitors have also been described. In particular, metal oxides, specifically ZnO, used as electrode materials are in focus here. Eventually, future developments, prospects, and challenges in supercapacitor research have been elaborated on
Port Heritage, Planning Challenges and the Role of GIS Tools in Multi Layered Cities: Yenikapi Metro Station, Istanbul
The aim of this study is to present arguments showing that on the port heritage area, underground cultural inventory should be considered from the historic landscape point of view within the framework of the conservation plans. This study focuses on the Yenikapı region, whose settlement history of the Historical Peninsula changed following the rescue excavation performed at the end of The Bosphorus Rail Tube Crossing Project (Marmaray). The area covering the Port of Theodosius, whose multi-layered urban formation started in the Neolithic period and which was one of the most significant grain trade ports in the Byzantine era, and the port heritage within the background of this area consist of important spatial formations. However, waterfront regeneration projects have disrupted the spatial continuity of cultural heritage under the effect of neoliberal policies. The methodology of the study, which involves the use of GIS, is based on the overlapping of the archaeological surveys from the Istanbul Archaeology Museum, geological structure data from the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, and historical maps. The conservation planning approach in a metropolitan city like Istanbul, whose archaeological layers reflect the port heritage, should be developed by applying the concept of historic urban landscape
Impact of Defect Structure on ’Bulk’ and Nano-Scale Ferroelectrics
Ferroelectric materials offer a wide range of dedicated physical properties such as high dielectric constant, spontaneous polarisation, pyroelectric and piezoelectric effects which can be applied in thin-film non-volatile memories or ‘bulk’ actuators, multi-layer capacitors, thermal sensors and transducers (1–3). In that respect, desiredmaterials properties for specific applicationsmay be tailored by controlling the defect structure bymeans of aliovalent doping, rendering so-termed ’hard’ or ’soft’ piezoelectric materials (4–6).
Another important impact on ferroelectric properties results from the confined size in nano-scale architectures (7). At the nanometer scale physical and chemical properties are expected to differ markedly from those of the ’bulk’ material. Owing to a size-driven phase transition, a critical particle size exists below which ferroelectricity does no longer occur (8).
In this chapter, we will first outline the nature of the size-driven para-to-ferroelectric phase transition, as well as the concepts of defect chemistry. On that basis, the interplay between confined size at the nano-regime and the development of defect structure will be characterized. The here studied ferroelectric lead titanate nano-powders may be considered as a model system for more complex ferroelectric nano architectures (1; 2). Furthermore, the results discussed here may be transferred to large extent to other important perovskite oxides with divalent A- and tetravalent B-site, such as BaTiO3 or Pb[Zr,Ti]O3 (PZT). The defect chemistry of ferroelectric perovskite oxideswith monovalent A- and pentavalent B-site, such as the [K,Na]NbO3 (KNN) solid solution system, however has shown some important deviations from the defect structure characterized for PZT compounds (9; 10)
Investigation of Attitudes of University Students towards Turkish Language Course and Distance Education
Turkish language course in Turkish higher education is compulsory for all programs. Being taught for two semesters, this course has started to be given in many universities through distance education in recent years. This new situation brings about the problem as to whether there is a relationship between attitude towards distance education and attitude towards Turkish language lesson. It was aimed in this study to examine and compare the attitudes of university students who take Turkish Language courses through distance education towards this course and distance education system in terms of various variables. In this descriptive research, a survey model was used to obtain data. The study group consists of the 181 freshmen attending a state university located in the south of Turkey and taking Turkish language lessons in the 2018-2019 academic year. Data were collected with attitude scales whose validity and reliability was tested. Difference tests between means were performed in data analysis. It was concluded in the study that the attitude of undergraduate freshman students towards Turkish Language course and distance education is above average, but not very high. It can also be foreseen according to findings of this study that university students' attitudes towards Turkish language course will improve as their attitudes towards distance education increase
Object and Relation Centric Representations for Push Effect Prediction
Pushing is an essential non-prehensile manipulation skill used for tasks
ranging from pre-grasp manipulation to scene rearrangement, reasoning about
object relations in the scene, and thus pushing actions have been widely
studied in robotics. The effective use of pushing actions often requires an
understanding of the dynamics of the manipulated objects and adaptation to the
discrepancies between prediction and reality. For this reason, effect
prediction and parameter estimation with pushing actions have been heavily
investigated in the literature. However, current approaches are limited because
they either model systems with a fixed number of objects or use image-based
representations whose outputs are not very interpretable and quickly accumulate
errors. In this paper, we propose a graph neural network based framework for
effect prediction and parameter estimation of pushing actions by modeling
object relations based on contacts or articulations. Our framework is validated
both in real and simulated environments containing different shaped multi-part
objects connected via different types of joints and objects with different
masses. Our approach enables the robot to predict and adapt the effect of a
pushing action as it observes the scene. Further, we demonstrate 6D effect
prediction in the lever-up action in the context of robot-based hard-disk
disassembly.Comment: Project Page: https://fzaero.github.io/push_learning
Effect of social network use and advertising on anthropometric status and dietary intake
Objective: The aim of this study was to examine the effects of social media use and advertisements on anthropometric status and nutrition in adults. In this randomized and cross-sectional study, 9918 adults aged between 18 and 65 years in 30 cities of Turkey were included. Method: Within the scope of the research, a questionnaire consisting of 40 questions in 4 sections was applied to the participants. The questions asked included socio-demographic information, anthropometric measurements, reliance on information about nutrition in social media and advertisements, changes in eating habits caused by social media and advertisements, information about nutrition, and 24-hour food consumption frequency. Results: Based on the findings of the study, internet and television are used more frequently to find out about nutrition than other mass media and social media platforms, and Instagram is the most popular social media platform to this end. People who use Instagram, books, and Pinterest have been found to have lower body weight, BMI, and carbohydrate, fat, and cholesterol intake. People who use Instagram, books, and Pinterest have been found to have lower body weight, BMI, and carbohydrate, fat, and cholesterol intake. While eating unhealthy foods upon being persuaded by marketing has a detrimental impact on body composition and health, learning about healthy nutrition from social media has been found to have a favorable impact. It has been observed that individuals who modified their eating habits after being persuaded by media coverage of nutrition issues had considerably lower weights, BMIs, and energy, protein, fat, and cholesterol intakes, while having higher fiber intake. It has been revealed that celebrities in commercials or social media advertising have no bearing on consumer decisions to buy products. Instead, consumers pay attention to cited sources in social media posts that discuss nutrition-related topics and seek out dietary advice from dietitians. Conclusion: It has been determined that social media and advertisements, fast and effective means of obtaining information, affect eating habits, purchasing behaviors, body compositions and health status of individuals. Hence, only dietitians should share on nutrition through social media and advertisements bearing ethical rules in mind and necessary inspections should be carried out by relevant institutions

carried out by class teachers. However, most of these courses are lessons that the
class teacher candidates have seen in the education process for several periods and
their competences related to these courses have been discussed in various aspects.
Of course, one of these lessons is music. The music lesson in elementary school
education is a profoundly important contribution to children's musical development, as well as their cognitive, emotional and motor development. In this context,
the qualifications of the class teacher candidates to use basic skills in music lessons
are important. In this study, the lesson processing experiences of 44 classroom teacher candidates were observed for 10 weeks and tried to observe both their proficiency in music lesson teaching and their teaching ability by two experts. A structured observation form with 20 behaviors was prepared for the research and the
control list and datas were collected. The datas obtained from the research were interpreted by making a frequency-percentage analysis. As a result of the research, it
has been reached that the class teacher candidates can show the general teaching
skills observed in the music teaching lessons better than the music lesson skills, but
they can use their proficiency in reading music lessons
