The Efficiency of the PQ4R Strategy in Understanding the Mathematical Proof among the Primary School Female Students

The purpose of the study is to examine the efficiency of the PQ4R strategy in understanding the mathematical proof among primary school female students. To achieve the purpose of the study, the analytical approach is used. The sample of the study consists of 40 female students divided into two groups, one is experimental and the other is control, with each group consisting of (20) students. As for the validity and reliability of the study instrument, they are validated as required by a group of highly respective validators. The results of the study show that there is an efficiency of the teaching strategy using (PQ4R) in improving the understanding of mathematical proof for female primary school students. The Perceptions of Faculty Members in Jordanian Universities of the Skills that University Students Should Possess in the 21st Century

هدفت الدراسة الحالية للتعرف إلى تصورات أعضاء الهيئة التدريسية في الجامعات الأردنية للمهارات التي يفضل أن يمتلكها الطالب الجامعي في القرن الحادي والعشرين، كما هدفت للتعرف إلى الفروق وفقاً لمتغيرات الجنس والرتبة العلمية، وقد تكونت عينة الدراسة من (250) عضواً، ولتحقيق أهداف الدراسة تمّ إعداد استبانة بعد التحقق من دلالات صدقها. وأظهرت نتائج الدراسة أن تصور عينة الدراسة للمهارات التي يفضل أن يمتلكها الطالب الجامعي في القرن الحادي والعشرين جاءت بدرجة مرتفعة، وأشارت النتائج إلى عدم وجود فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية تعزى لأثر متغيرات الجنس والرتبة العلمية في تقدير عينة الدراسة للمهارات اللازمة. وأوصت الدراسة بضرورة صياغة وتبني رؤية متجددة للجامعات الأردنية تنطلق من واقع واحتياجات وفلسفة المجتمع، وتطوير المناهج الدراسية وطرق التدريس في الجامعات الأردنية، لتتضمن العمل على تنمية مختلف المهارات التي يحتاج إليها الطالب الجامعي بعد تخرجه. الكلمات المفتاحية: أعضاء هيئة التدريس، المهارات، الطالب الجامعي، الجامعات الأردنية.The present study aimed to identify the perceptions of faculty members in Jordanians Universities of the skills that university student should possess in the 21st century. The study also aimed to identify the differences according to the variables of gender and academic rank. The study sample consisted of (250) faculty members. To achieve the objectives of the study, a questionnaire was designed and checked for validity. The study results showed that the score of the participants’ perceptions of the skills that university students should have in the 21st century was high. The results also indicated that there were no statistically significant differences due to the effect of gender variable and the variable of academic rank. The study recommended the need to formulate and adopt a new vision for Jordanian universities based on the reality, needs and philosophy of society. There is also a need to develop the curricula and methods of teaching in Jordanian universities to include the development of various skills needed by university students after graduation.
