    Decentralized navigation and collision avoidance for robotic swarm with heterogeneous abilities

    This paper proposes a decentralized navigation method with collision avoidance for a robotic swarm whose individuals possess heterogeneous abilities, such as sensing range and maximum speed. In this method, each agent distributedly constructs and maintains a local directed connection with another agent using only local information, which is relative distance. Moreover, all agents always maintain some distance from other agents to avoid collision. As a result, one leader robot can guide an entire swarm of robots to their destination, and the other robots can follow the leader while maintaining connectivity and not colliding with others. We prove the above mathematically, and we demonstrate the validity of the proposed method by numerical simulation and experimentation

    Laparoscopic gastrectomy in the Republic of the Union of Myanmar: my experience

     In Myanmar, laparoscopic gastrectomy is still uncommon. The first author demonstrated laparoscopic gastrectomy in response to a request from Myanmarese surgeons. The patient was a 62-year-old male with gastric outlet obstruction. He had been unable to eat solid food for a month. Esophagogastroduodenoscopy revealed a type 2 tumor in the antrum, and the biopsy revealed adenocarcinoma. Laparoscopic distal gastrectomy with Rouxen-Y reconstruction was performed by the author with the assistance of Myanmarese surgeons thanks to donated devices. The postoperative course was uneventful. As laparoscopic gastrectomy requires more equipment, is more expensive, requires more time than open surgery, and requires training, there are several obstacles to its widespread adoption in Myanmar

    Relationship between the Hip Abductor Muscles and Abduction Strength in Patients with Hip Osteoarthritis

    This study aimed to determine which muscle the gluteus maximus, gluteus medius, gluteus minimus (Gmin), or tensor fasciae latae (TFL) contributes most to hip abduction strength and to identify effective sites for cross-sectional area (CSA) Gmin and TFL measurement in hip osteoarthritis (OAhip) patients. Twenty-eight patients with OAhip were included. The muscle CSA and volume were determined using magnetic resonance imaging. Peak isometric strength was determined using hand-held dynamometry. Muscle volumes were normalized to the total muscle volume of hip abductors. Multiple regression analysis was performed. The difference between the CSA of Gmin and TFL was calculated, and correlations with volume and muscle strength were determined. Gmin volume was related to abductor muscle strength (p=0.042). The peak CSA of the Gmin correlated with muscle volume and strength. The CSA of the TFL correlated with volume, with no difference between the CSA of the most protruding part of the lesser trochanter and peak CSA. Gmin volume was strongly related to abductor muscle strength. Peak CSA is a useful parameter for assessing the CSA of the Gmin among patients with OAhip. The CSA of the TFL should be measured at the most protruding part of the lesser trochanter

    Direct observations of spin fluctuations in spin-hedgehog-anti-hedgehog lattice states in MnSi1x_{1-x}Gex_x (x=0.6x=0.6 and 0.80.8) at zero magnetic field

    The helimagnetic compounds MnSi1x_{1-x}Gex_{x} show the three-dimensional multiple-qq order as referred to as spin-hedgehog-anti-hedgehog (SHAH) lattice. Two representative forms of SHAH are cubic-3qq lattice with q100q \| \langle100\rangle and tetrahedral-4qq lattice with q111q \| \langle111\rangle, which show up typically for x=1.0 0.8x=1.0-~0.8 and for x=0.6x=0.6, respectively. Here, we have investigated the spin fluctuations in the MnSi1x_{1-x}Gex_{x} polycrystalline samples with x=0.6x=0.6 and 0.80.8 by using the time-of-flight (TOF) neutron inelastic scattering and MIEZE-type neutron spin echo techniques to elucidate the microscopic origin of the unconventional Hall effect in the SHAH lattice states. This research is motivated by the observation of a sign change in the unconventional Hall resistivity as a function of temperature [Y. Fujishiro et al., Nat. Comm. 10\textbf{10}, 1059 (2019)]. The present results reveal the correspondences between the temperature ranges where the positive Hall resistivity and spin fluctuations are observed. These results agree well with the theoretical model of the conduction electrons scattered by the fluctuating spin clusters with a non-zero average of sign-biased scalar spin chirality as a mechanism of the positive Hall resistivity [H.     Evaluasi Peran Sistem Pengendalian Manajemen untuk Meminimalkan Konflik pada Badan USAha Keluarga “K” di Tulungagung

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi peran sistem pengendalian manajemen untuk meminimalkan konflik. Penelitian ini merupakan applied research yang dilakukan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif. Objek penelitian dalam penelitian ini yaitu badan USAha keluarga “K” di Tulungagung. Sumber data untuk penelitian ini adalah narasumber yang terdiri dari direktur, supervisor dan karyawan. Metode pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah wawancara semi structured, observasi, dan analisis dokumen. Hasil evaluasi yang dilakukan dalam penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa sistem pengendalian manajemen yang diterapkan oleh badan USAha “K” sudah berhasil meminimalkan konflik seperti substantive conflict. Namun ada beberapa bentuk pengendalian manajemen yang masih memiliki kelemahan yang berpotensi dan telah menimbulkan process conflict dan affective conflict khususnya di badan USAha “K” saat ini

    Apolipoprotein E and clusterin inhibit the early phase of amyloid-β aggregation in an in vitro model of cerebral amyloid angiopathy

    Sporadic cerebral amyloid angiopathy (CAA) is characterized by cerebrovascular amyloid-β (Aβ) deposition, which leads to lobar hemorrhage and dementia. Biological molecules affecting the development of CAA have not been fully characterized. In this study, we performed proteome analysis of biopsied leptomeningeal and cortical vessels obtained from 6 CAA patients and 5 non-CAA patients who underwent surgery for large lobar hemorrhages. We found that 6 proteins, including Aβ, apolipoprotein E (apoE), clusterin (CLU), albumin, complement C4 and vitronectin were significantly upregulated in the vessels of CAA patients as compared to non-CAA patients. ApoE and CLU were found in all CAA patients. We next examined the effects of apoE and CLU on the early phase of Aβ aggregation, using a simple yet powerful in vitro model of CAA, which recapitulates the intramural periarterial drainage pathway model. We found that physiological concentrations of apoE and CLU delayed the initiation time of amyloid growth kinetics in a concentration-dependent manner. These data indicate that apoE and CLU may act as extracellular chaperones to inhibit Aβ amyloid deposition in CAA

    Relative angle determinable stitching interferometry for hard x-ray reflective optics

    Metrology plays an important role in surface figuring with subnanometer accuracy. We have developed relative angle determinable stitching interferometry for the surface figuring of elliptical mirrors, in order to realize hard x-ray nanofocusing. In a stitching system, stitching angles are determined not by the general method using a common area between neighboring shots, but by the new method using the mirror's tilt angles measured at times when profile data are acquired.     Fabrication of elliptically figured mirror for focusing hard x rays to size less than 50 nm

    In this study, we designed, fabricated, and evaluated a hard x-ray focusing mirror having an ideally focused beam with a full width at half maximum in the intensity profile of 36 nm at an x-ray energy of 15 keV. The designed elliptically curved shape was fabricated by a computer-controlled fabrication system using plasma chemical vaporization machining and elastic emission machining, on the basis of surface profiles accurately measured by combining microstitching interferometry with relative angle determinable stitching interferometry. A platinum-coated surface was employed for hard x-ray focusing with a large numerical aperture. Line-focusing tests on the fabricated elliptical mirror are carried out at the 1-km -long beamline of SPring-8.     Ultra Low-Dose Radiation: Stress Responses and Impacts Using Rice as a Grass Model

    We report molecular changes in leaves of rice plants (Oryza sativa L. - reference crop plant and grass model) exposed to ultra low-dose ionizing radiation, first using contaminated soil from the exclusion zone around Chernobyl reactor site. Results revealed induction of stress-related marker genes (Northern blot) and secondary metabolites (LC-MS/MS) in irradiated leaf segments over appropriate control. Second, employing the same in vitro model system, we replicated results of the first experiment using in-house fabricated sources of ultra low-dose gamma (γ) rays and selected marker genes by RT-PCR.
