Genetic Differentiation Among Three Species of \u3ci\u3eParadosa\u3c/i\u3e (Arachnida: Lycosidae)
Allozymic variation in nine protein producing loci was examined in three species of Pardosa using starch gel electrophoresis. Allozyme frequencies showed a high degree of geographic uniformity among conspecific populations. Estimated heterozygosities for the three species ranged from 0.05 to 0.15. Rogers\u27 coefficients of genetic similarity based on allozyme frequencies averaged over conspecific populations ranged from 0.16 to 0.37 fo rthe three species
Justification of c-Number Substitutions in Bosonic Hamiltonians
The validity of substituting a c-number for the mode operator
is established rigorously in full generality, thereby verifying one aspect of
Bogoliubov's 1947 theory. This substitution not only yields the correct value
of thermodynamic quantities like the pressure or ground state energy, but also
the value of that maximizes the partition function equals the true
amount of condensation in the presence of a gauge-symmetry breaking term -- a

On the density-potential mapping in time-dependent density functional theory
The key questions of uniqueness and existence in time-dependent density
functional theory are usually formulated only for potentials and densities that
are analytic in time. Simple examples, standard in quantum mechanics, lead
however to non-analyticities. We reformulate these questions in terms of a
non-linear Schr\"odinger equation with a potential that depends non-locally on

Quantum atomic delocalization vs. structural disorder in amorphous silicon
Quantum effects on the atom delocalization in amorphous silicon have been
studied by path-integral Monte Carlo simulations from 30 to 800 K. The quantum
delocalization is appreciable vs. topological disorder, as seen from structural
observables such as the radial distribution function (RDF). At low
temperatures, the width of the first peak in the RDF increases by a factor of
1.5 due to quantum effects. The overall anharmonicity of the solid vibrations
at finite temperatures in amorphous silicon is clearly larger than in the
crystalline material. Low-energy vibrational modes are mainly located on

An intrinsic state for an extended version of the interacting boson model
An intrinsic-state formalism for IBM-4 is presented. A basis of deformed
bosons is introduced which allows the construction of a general trial wave
function which has Wigner's spin-isospin SU(4) symmetry as a particular limit.
Intrinsic-state calculations are compared with exact ones showing good

Localization of Multi-Dimensional Wigner Distributions
A well known result of P. Flandrin states that a Gaussian uniquely maximizes
the integral of the Wigner distribution over every centered disc in the phase
plane. While there is no difficulty in generalizing this result to
higher-dimensional poly-discs, the generalization to balls is less obvious. In

Improved Lieb-Oxford exchange-correlation inequality with gradient correction
We prove a Lieb-Oxford-type inequality on the indirect part of the Coulomb
energy of a general many-particle quantum state, with a lower constant than the
original statement but involving an additional gradient correction. The result
is similar to a recent inequality of Benguria, Bley and Loss, except that the
correction term is purely local, which is more usual in density functional
theory. In an appendix, we discuss the connection between the indirect energy
and the classical Jellium energy for constant densities. We show that they
