Formation of Cultural Identity of Bilingual Children in the Conditions of Russian Everyday Life

In the 21st century, many children learn different languages from an early age. The teaching practices of everyday life are considered as an environment. The purpose of the study is to identify the features of the formation of the cultural identity of bilingual children in everyday life. In such circumstances, the ‘guide’ is an important adult who is not only a parent, but also a teacher for the child. Overcoming the binary oppositions of the culture ‘friend or foe’ and the development of a culture of dialogue becomes possible precisely in this context. The authors’ appeal to the problem of the formation and development of the cultural identity of bilingual children in the socio-cultural conditions of the 21st century is due to a number of factors. The main results of the study are that, firstly, bilingualism and polylingualism are common everyday practices that have become an integral part of the life of a modern person. Secondly, the parents are interested in the child speaking two or more languages, which in the future will allow him to adapt in a multicultural environment and successfully build communication. Thirdly, teaching several languages from early childhood has its own specifics, since thinking and the speech of bi- and polylingual children differs from thinking and the speech of monolinguals. The conclusions reached by the authors are that the combination of online and offline technologies in teaching foreign languages contributes to the harmonious entry of students into the language environment in a multicultural world; maintaining interest in the language and the application of educational practices in everyday life is a task that is solved not only by teachers, but also by parents; language learning from early childhood has a special effect on the child’s thinking. The authors point out the problem associated with the for mation of cultural identity: how much the knowledge of a foreign language and the maintenance of the practices of the ‘other’ culture at the everyday level ensures overcoming of binary oppositions of culture and contributes to the development of a culture of dialogue in modern communicative practices. This research was financially supported by the Russian Foundation for Basic Research (Grant No. 17-29-09136/20 “Multilingualism in the era of post-literacy: Philosophical and cultural studies and methodological and pedagogical development of a multilingual education model”)

NMR line shape in anisotropic superconductors in a tilted magnetic field

    Get PDF
NMR line shape has been constructed for anisotropic type-II superconductors in tilted magnetic fields, with inclusion of vortex-lattice magnetic-field nonuniformities and of the skin effect near the superconductor surface. The NMR line shape parameters are shown to change considerably when the external magnetic field changes direction. This makes it possible to obtain more detailed information about the characteristics of a superconductor, in particular, its anisotropy parameter. © 1998 American Institute of Physics. NMR lineshape in anisotropic superconductors

    Get PDF
It is shown that the NMR lineshape strongly differs for various angles between normal to the surface of the superconductor and the external magnetic field direction. Thus, the surface effects drastically change the conclusions concerning the vortex lattice and parameters of the superconductor that are usually extracted from the NMR line shape. The NMR probing in the inclined magnetic fields will provide more detailed information about the parameters of the superconductor, especially in strongly anisotropic high-Tc. superconductors. © 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. A comparative study of hydrophilic phosphine hexanuclear rhenium cluster complexes’ toxicity

Octahedral rhenium cluster compound Na2H8[{Re6Se8}(P(C2H4CONH2)(C2H4COO)2)6] has recently emerged as a very promising X-ray contrast agent for biomedical applications. However, the synthesis of this compound is rather challenging due to difficulty to control the hydrolysis of initial P(C2H4CN)3 ligand during the reaction process. Therefore, in this report we compare the in vitro and in vivo toxicity of Na2H8[{Re6Se8}(P(C2H4CONH2)(C2H4COO)2)6] with those of related compounds featuring fully hydrolysed form of the phosphine ligand, namely Na2H14[{Re6Q8}(P(C2H4COO)3)6] (Q = S or Se). Our results demonstrate that cytotoxicity and acute in vivo toxicity of the complex Na2H8[{Re6Se8}(P(C2H4CONH2)(C2H4COO)2)6] solutions were considerably lower than those of compounds with fully hydrolysed ligand P(C2H4COOH)3. Such behavior can be explained by the higher osmolality of Na2H14[{Re6Q8}(P(C2H4COO)3)6] versus Na2H8[{Re6Se8}(P(C2H4CONH2)(C2H4COO)2)6]

Research of biochemical gold recovery method using high-arsenic raw materials

    Get PDF
This article contains the results of experiments to recover gold from complex mineral raw materials containing more than 15 % arsenic. Laboratory tests showed that standard cyanidation recovers only 26,4 % of gold into the solution. Additional oxidizing reagents used increase the leaching efficiency and enable to recover more than 40 % of gold during subsequent cyanidation. The efficiency has been established for replacement of cyanide with thiourea and thiosulfate solutions. 79,5 %, i.e. the maximum recovery rate, was found in the experiment with preliminary oxidation with T. Ferrooxidans, a bacterial culture, followed by leaching with a thiourea solution

Development and investigation of common wheat lines of winter cultivar Bezostaya 1 with combinations of dominant alleles of VRN-1 loci

VRN genes, determining wheat sensitivity to vernalization, are the main genetic system that defnes the duration of the entire growing period and the durations of the main organogenesis phases. To date, several alleles have been described for VRN-1 loci, and allelespecifc primers have been developed that allow rapid identifcation of allelic spectra in common wheat varieties and lines. The unequal influence of different alleles of VRN-1 loci on the duration of the growing period has also been shown; however, there is little information on the effect of the combination of different alleles on heading time. In developing genotypes having different alleles of dominant VRN genes on the base of the same genetic background, it is necessary to study the genetic effects of VRN genes on the duration of the growing season and the individual developmental phases, as well as on productivity. Most varieties presently grown in Russia carry the dominant alleles of two VRN-1 genes: Vrn-A1a and Vrn-B1a or Vrn-B1c; thus, the task was to create lines combining the dominant alleles of Vrn-A1a with Vrn-B1a and Vrn-B1c against the genetic background of the winter variety Bezostaya 1 (Bez1 Vrn-A1a/Vrn-B1a and Bez1 Vrn-A1a/Vrn-B1c). Homozygous plants were isolated in the F2 generation by using known allelespecifc primers for the Vrn-A1 and Vrn-B1 loci. The durations of the tillering–frst node period, which is the key stage determining growing duration, and the period from shoots to heading were signifcantly reduced in lines with a combination of two dominant alleles of VRN-1 loci compared to isogenic lines of Bezostaya 1 with the dominant alleles Vrn-B1a and Vrn-B1c. The duration of these developmental phases also decreased in the obtained lines as compared to the isogenic line containing the dominant Vrn-A1a allele, but the differences were not signifcant. No substantial differences were found in the duration of other growing phases in lines with two dominant alleles of the VRN-1 loci as compared to isogenic lines of Bezostaya 1

The purpose of the article is to consider how the cultural identity of bilingual children is formed, taking into account the psychological and pedagogical characteristics (through the development of the linguistic picture of the world, speech and play practices, immersion in a multilingual environment, communication with a significant adult - a parent who becomes a teacher for a child).
