On the T-Odd Quark Fragmentation Function and on Transversal Handedness

    Get PDF
The first probe of the correlation of the T-odd one-particle fragmentation function responsible for the left--right asymmetry of fragmentation of a transversely polarized quark is done by using the 1991-95 DELPHI data for Z2Z\to 2-jet decay. Integrated over the fraction of longitudinal and transversal momenta, this correlation is of 1.5% order, which means order of 13% for the analyzing power. A rather large (10\approx 10%) handedness transversal to the production plane was observed in the diffractive production of (ππ+π\pi^-\pi^+\pi^-) triples from nuclei by the 40GeV/cπ40 GeV/c \pi^---beam. It was shown that the phenomenon has a clear dynamic origin and resembles the single spin asymmetry behavior. All this makes us hope to use this effects in polarized DIS experiments for transversity measurement.Comment: 10 pp, 5 epsfig, Latex 2e, szjp.cls, epsfig.sty, wrapfig.sty included. A large correlation of production and decay planes of (\pi^-\pi^+\pi^-)-system in dissociation of π\pi^--beam 40 GeV/c on nuclear targets was observed. The dependence of the correlation on atomic number, Feynmann variable and transversal momentum as well as on invariant mass of the pion triple and neutral pion pair were investigated. It was shown that the phenomenon has a clear dynamic origin and resembles the single spin asymmetry behavior.Comment: 8 pages, latex epsfig.sty, 5 eps figures. Submitted to Yad. Fiz

Theory of weak continuous measurements in a strongly driven quantum bit

Continuous spectroscopic measurements of a strongly driven superconducting qubit by means of a high-quality tank circuit (a linear detector) are under study. Output functions of the detector, namely, a spectrum of voltage fluctuations and an impedance, are expressed in terms of the qubit spectrum and magnetic susceptibility. The nonequilibrium spectrum of the current fluctuations in the qubit loop and the linear response function of the driven qubit coupled to a heat bath are calculated with Bloch-Redfield and rotating wave approximations. Backaction effects of the qubit on the tank and the tank on the qubit are analyzed quantitatively. We show that the voltage spectrum of the tank provides detailed information about a frequency and a decay rate of Rabi oscillations in the qubit. It is found that both an efficiency of spectroscopic measurement and measurement-induced decoherence of the qubit demonstrate a resonant behaviour as the Rabi frequency approaches the resonant frequency of the tank. We determine conditions when the spectroscopic observation of the Rabi oscillations in the flux qubit with the tank circuit can be considered as a weak continuous quantum measurement.Comment: 28 page

Supernovae - Optical Precursors of Short Gamma-Ray Bursts

The probability of observing "supernova - gamma-ray burst" (GRB) pair events and recurrent GRBs from one galaxy in a time interval of several years has been estimated. Supernova explosions in binary systems accompanied by the formation of a short-lived pair of compact objects can be the sources of such events. If a short GRB is generated during the collision of a pair, then approximately each of ~300 short GRBs with redshift z must have an optical precursor - a supernova in the observer's time interval <2(1+z)yr. If the supernova explosion has the pattern of a hypernova, then a successive observation of long and short GRBs is possible. The scenario for the generation of multiple GRBs in collapsing galactic nuclei is also discussed.Comment: 12 pages, 1 figure; this paper has the e-precursor arXiv:1101.3298 [astro-ph.HE

Algbrodynamics over complex space and phase extension of the Minkowski geometry

First principles should predetermine physical geometry and dynamics both together. In the "algebrodynamics" they follow solely from the properties of the biquaternion algebra \B and the analysis over \B. We briefly present the algebrodynamics on the Minkowski background based on a nonlinear generalization to \B of the Cauchi-Riemann analyticity conditions. Further, we consider the effective real geometry uniquely resulting from the structure of multiplication in \B which turns out to be of the Minkowski type, with an additional phase invariant. Then we pass to study the primordial dynamics that takes place in the complex \B space and brings into consideration a number of remarkable structures: an ensemble of identical correlated matter pre-elements ("duplicons"), caustic-like signals (interaction carriers), a concept of random complex time resulting in irreversibility of physical time at a macrolevel, etc. In partucular, the concept of "dimerous electron" naturally arises in the framework of complex algebrodynamics and, together with the above-mentioned phase invariant, allows for a novel approach to explanation of quantum interference phenomena alternative to the recently accepted paradigm of wave-particle dualism.Comment: 14 pages, twocolum

Introduction. Prostate cancer (PCa) is one of the common oncological diseases in men. Expression of the PCA3 gene in urine is currently used as a molecular genetic marker of PCa.Objective: to comparative analysis of the PCA3 expression in urine sediments and exosomes for the determination of the biomaterial, which allows detecting the PCA3 expression in more efficient manner.Materials and methods. The 12 patients with different stages of PCa and 8 control samples were examined.Results. The diagnostic accuracy of the PCA3 gene expression analysis in this cohort exceeded 90 %. We had not obtained significant differences in the sensitivity and specificity of the PCA3 hyperexpression in the urine sediments compared with exosomes. This result indicates in favor to using urine sediment for the PCA3 analysis as a biomaterial with less time-consuming sample preparation, although the possible advantage of exosomes for the analysis of the expression marker panels requires further studies.

The malignant rhabdoid tumor (RT) is one of the most aggressive childhood neoplasm. RTs are characterized by the presence of inactivating mutations in the SMARCB1 (hSNF5/INI1/BAF47) gene – a tumor suppressor localized in 22q11.2. Up to 30 % of RTs caused by germline mutations of this gene, to date those cases are considered as a manifestation of the rhabdoid tumor predisposition syndrome type 1 (RTPS1). We have analyzed the SMARCB1 mutations by polymerase chain reaction and subsequent Sanger sequencing in 18 patients with RT in different localizations for improving of genetic laboratory diagnostics of the RTPS1, as well as searching of genotype-phenotype correlations in this disease. Three patients had de novo nonsense-mutations c.157C→T (p.R53*), c.669_670del (p.C223*) and c.843G→A (p.W281*), confirming RTPS1, which were associated with RT in the kidney, early age at diagnosis (median 2.6 months) and poor prognosis. Identification of germline SMARCB1 mutations in the patients with RTs is essential to assess the risk of metachronous tumors and for genetic counseling of other family members.
