LA HIDROGENACION SELECTIVA DE ACEITES NATURALES A TRAVES DE CATALIZADORES HETEROGENEOS

En este artículo se presenta una revisión bibliográfica sobre los procesos y los catalizadores heterogéneos que permiten hidrogenar selectivamente el grupo carbonilo de sustratos insaturados presentes en aceites vegetales tales como ácidos y ésteres grasos con el fin de sintetizar productos de la química fina. Se discuten además algunos resultados importantes relacionados con los mecanismos que se han propuesto recientemente para la reacción de hidrogenación selectiva, así como algunas pautas para trabajos futuros

Investigación + Creación; proyecto Vestuario, Patrimonio y Comunidad

La investigación+creación es un modelo de generación de nuevo conocimiento más cercano a las áreas creativas, desde allí se plantean proyectos que fundamentan las disciplinas del diseño. Por lo anterior, el gobierno colombiano desde el 2019, crea la primera convocatoria establecida específicamente para ello; InvestigARTE. Uno de los proyectos beneficiarios de dicha iniciativa es el de Vestuario, Patrimonio y Comunidad, el cual busca reconocer los saberes artesanales y tradicionales del quehacer de una de las regiones del país, refiriéndose exclusivamente a productos que tienen que ver con el cuerpo y sus artefactos vestimentarios. Rituximab for Remission Induction and Maintenance in Refractory Systemic Lupus Erythematosus

Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a chronic inflammatory autoimmune disease with high morbidity if untreated. Sometimes, despite aggressive treatments, the disease remains active with cumulative organic damage. We conducted a retrospective and descriptive observational study of patients with SLE refractory to conventional treatment who were treated with rituximab (RTX) as remission induction therapy and maintenance. There was a significant reduction in the conventional immunosuppressive drug dose and the number of relapses of disease. RTX appeared to be effective and safe for the induction and maintenance of remission in patient with SLE refractory to conventional treatment

When urban modernisation entails service delivery co-production: a glance from Medellin

International audienceThrough the example of Ciudadela Nuevo Occidente, a large social housing district in Medellín, this article describes a process that primarily involves co-learning and micro-negotiations that help produce the cognitive alignment necessary to the management of services. The hypothesis put forward in this article is that the frictions caused by the residents' difficulties in adapting to the socioeconomic , cultural and cognitive frameworks of their new environment, imposed by urban modernisation running processes, engender forms of service co-production that ultimately strengthen the utility's capacity to extend and adapt its delivery model while enhancing the quality of services

Modeling and simulation in tribology across scales: An overview

This review summarizes recent advances in the area of tribology based on the outcome of a Lorentz Center workshop surveying various physical, chemical and mechanical phenomena across scales. Among the main themes discussed were those of rough surface representations, the breakdown of continuum theories at the nano- and micro-scales, as well as multiscale and multiphysics aspects for analytical and computational models relevant to applications spanning a variety of sectors, from automotive to biotribology and nanotechnology. Significant effort is still required to account for complementary nonlinear effects of plasticity, adhesion, friction, wear, lubrication and surface chemistry in tribological models.
