The manuscripts preserved in the Mingana Collection ‒Mingana Syriac MS 83 and Syriac MS 155‒ contain, inter alia, an interesting short piece dealing with the text of the Gloria in Excelsis Deo in Syriac and Arabic respectively with additions by Saint Athanasius the Great. The purpose of this paper is to draw the attention of scholars and colleagues to the existence of this hitherto unpublished work as well as to present its text and provide an analysis of its contents, linguistic features and likely authenticity. Numerical Study for Performance Evaluation of Plastic Solar Air Heater with Different Cross-Sectional Configuration

    Get PDF
In this research, a numerical investigation was performed on five solar air heaters with different cross-sectional shape to find the best configuration relevant to thermal performance. The selected tested shapes in this study were (circular, semi-circular, half-circle plus isosceles triangle, half circle-negative isosceles triangle shape and crescent shape) and all tested shapes hade the same absorber surface area. The effect of two parameter (velocity and solar radiation intensity) on thermal performance of solar air heater were studied numerically by ANSYS 14.0. The velocity of air was changed from 0.25 to 2.0 (m.s -1 ). Results indicated that the highest efficiencies were accomplished for the circular configuration and reached to about 51.79% at solar radiation intensity 850 (W.m-2 ). The solar radiation intensity was changed from 400 to 1200 (W.m-2 ). Results indicated that the highest efficiencies were accomplished for the circular configuration and reached to about 35.51% at air velocity 1.0 (m.s-1 )

The knowledge of e-courses quality standards among faculty members at the University of Najran

    Get PDF
Many individuals and institutions have sought to adopt specific criteria to judge the quality of e-courses that are still absent from many faculty members, although they need to use these e-courses in their curriculum. The current research aim to explore the knowledge of e-courses quality standards among faculty members at the University of Najran. The researcher used descriptive method. The research sample is 70 faculty members from various faculties of Najran University. The researcher relied on the use of a questionnaire as a data collection tool based on Quality Matters standards that consisted of 8 main standards and (43) sub-standards for e-courses. The research findings that the faculty members at the University of Najran has high level of knowledge of e-courses quality standards. Key Words: E-courses - Quality standards – Quality Matters - University of Najra

Factors Contributing To HIV/AIDS – Related Stigma and Discrimination Attitude in Egypt: Suggested Stigma Reduction Guide for Nurses in Family Health Centers

    Get PDF
HIV/AIDS remains one of the world's most significant public health challenges, particularly in low- and middle-income countries like Egypt. HIV/AIDS – Related Stigma and Discrimination (S&D) has been shown to be a barrier to HIV prevention, voluntary counseling, testing, and care in many international settings. Nurses are expected to provide social and psychological support for persons living with HIV (PLHIV) in order to help them cope with stress and to reduce the stigma directed against PLHIV. However, HIV/AIDS-related S&D including HIV testing without consent, breaches of confidentiality, labeling, gossip, verbal harassment, differential treatment and even denial of treatment have been extensively documented amongst nurses. In order to combat stigma and discrimination, it is important to quantify them, to understand their magnitudes, to explore their associated factors and to explore how they vary across groups, settings and cultural contexts. Therefore, the aim of this study is first to assess factors contributing to HIV/AIDS-related S&D attitude and second to suggest a stigma reduction guide for nurses in family health centers in Egypt using a descriptive correlational design. Ten accredited family health centers which follow thirty seven medical areas of Cairo Governorate were randomly selected using a two stage cluster sampling technique; then nurses involved in primary health care activities were recruited using simple random sampling. A structured interviewing questionnaire was developed by researcher to assess nurses' personal characteristics, educational level, HIV/AIDS training, work experience, knowledge about HIV/AIDS, and attitude domains of HIV/AIDS-related S&D such as fear of casual transmission and refusal of contact with PLHIV and AIDS; values and morality-related attitude, and discrimination. Results revealed unaccepted level of knowledge and a prevalent negative stigmatizing/ discriminatory attitude about HIV/AIDS and PLHIV among nurses in these health centers. Significant relationships between nurses’ levels of knowledge, years of experience, HIV/AIDS training and HIV/AIDS- related stigma and discrimination attitude were observed at 0.000, 0.001 and 0.005 levels respectively. The current study recommends enforcement of anti-stigma and discrimination training and policies in family health centers to tackle this problem in Egypt. Higher order tensor decomposition for proportional myoelectric control based on muscle synergies

In the recent years, muscle synergies have been utilised to provide simultaneous and proportional myoelectric control systems. All of the proposed synergy-based systems relies on matrix factorisation methods to extract the muscle synergies which is limited in terms of task-dimensionality. Here, we seek to demonstrate and discuss the potential of higher-order tensor decompositions as a framework to estimate muscle synergies for proportional myoelectric control. We proposed synergy-based myoelectric control model by utilising muscle synergies extracted by a novel \ac{ctd} technique. Our approach is compared with \ac{NMF} \ac{SNMF}, the current state-of-the-art matrix factorisation models for synergy-based myoelectric control systems. Synergies extracted from three techniques where used to estimate control signals for wrist's \ac{dof} through regression. The reconstructed control signals where evaluated by real glove data that capture the wrist's kinematics. The proposed \ac{ctd} model results was slightly better than matrix factorisation methods. The three models where compared against random generated synergies and all of them were able to reject the null hypothesis. This study provides demonstrate the use of higher-order tensor decomposition in proportional myoelectric control and highlight the potential applications and advantages of using higher-order tensor decomposition in muscle synergy extraction
