Yukawa-coupling corrections to scalar quark decays
Heavy squark decays into top and charginos or neutralinos could be an
unexpected source of top quarks at hadron colliders. A detailed treatment of
these processes is necessary for a reliable calculation of both the top quark
production cross-section and the standard top quark branching ratio in the
MSSM. Along this line we compute the electroweak corrections to the sbottom
decays sbottom_a --> chargino_i top within the Yukawa coupling approximation.
The calculation of these higher order contributions requires renormalization of
both the bottom squark mixing angle and of tan(beta). This type of corrections
gives the leading order electroweak effects at low and high tan(beta).Comment: 16 pages, LaTeX, 5 figures included using epsfig. Comments added,

Hereditary angioedema (HAE) in children and adolescents : a consensus on therapeutic strategies
Hereditary angioedema due to C1 inhibitor (C1 esterase inhibitor) deficiency (types I and II HAE-C1-INH) is a rare disease that usually presents during childhood or adolescence with intermittent episodes of potentially life-threatening angioedema. Diagnosis as early as possible is important to avoid ineffective therapies and to properly treat swelling attacks. At a consensus meeting in June 2011, pediatricians and dermatologists from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland reviewed the currently available literature, including published international consensus recommendations for HAE therapy across all age groups. Published recommendations cannot be unconditionally adopted for pediatric patients in German-speaking countries given the current approval status of HAE drugs. This article provides an overview and discusses drugs available for HAE therapy, their approval status, and study results obtained in adult and pediatric patients. Recommendations for developing appropriate treatment strategies in the management of HAE in pediatric patients in German-speaking countries are provided.Conclusion Currently, plasma-derived C1 inhibitor concentrate is considered the best available option for the treatment of acute HAE-C1-INH attacks in pediatric patients in German-speaking countries, as well as for short-term and long-term prophylaxis
Fermionic decays of sfermions in the MSSM: a full one-loop calculation
We present a full one-loop calculation of the electroweak corrections to the
partial decay widths of the fermionic modes of sfermions \Gamma(\sfermion \to
f'\chi). The main technical points of the renormalization are presented, and

Fermionic decays of sfermions: a complete discussion at one-loop order
We present a definition of an on-shell renormalization scheme for the
sfermion and chargino-neutralino sector of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard
Model (MSSM). Then, apply this renormalization framework to the interaction
between charginos/neutralinos and sfermions. A kind of universal corrections is
identified, which allow to define effective chargino/neutralino coupling
matrices. In turn, these interactions generate (universal) non-decoupling terms
that grow as the logarithm of the heavy mass. Therefore the full MSSM spectrum
must be taken into account in the computation of radiative corrections to
observables involving these interactions. As an application we analyze the full
one-loop electroweak radiative corrections to the partial decay widths
\Gamma(\tilde{f} -> f\neut) and \Gamma(\tilde{f} -> f'\cplus) for all sfermion
flavours and generations. These are combined with the QCD corrections to
compute the corrected branching ratios of sfermions. It turns out that the
electroweak corrections can have an important impact on the partial decay
widths, as well as the branching ratios, in wide regions of the parameter
space. The precise value of the corrections is strongly dependent on the

Radiative corrections to scalar-fermion pair production in high energy e+e- collisions
We study the one-loop radiative corrections to pair production of the
supersymmetric scalar partners of the standard fermions in e+e- annihilation.
Both electroweak and SUSY-QCD corrections are considered. Applications are for
production of scalar fermions of the third generation, e^+e^-\to \wt{f}_i
\wt{f}_j^* (i,j=1,2), , as well as for production of scalar
quarks of the first and second generation. Effects on integrated cross sections
are discussed and also the one-loop induced forward-backward asymmetries are
studied. It is found that at low energy, \sqrt{s}\approx 500 \to 1000 GeV, the
corrections are dominated by the QCD contributions, At high energy,
TeV, the electroweak box diagrams give a substantial
contribution and even dominate in some regions of parameters space. The purely
loop-induced forward-backward asymmetry can reach values of several per cent.Comment: 23 pages, latex, 13 figure
Study of exclusive one-pion and one-eta production using hadron and dielectron channels in pp reactions at kinetic beam energies of 1.25 GeV and 2.2 GeV with HADES
We present measurements of exclusive ensuremathπ+,0 and η production in pp reactions at 1.25GeV and 2.2GeV beam kinetic energy in hadron and dielectron channels. In the case of π+ and π0 , high-statistics invariant-mass and angular distributions are obtained within the HADES acceptance as well as acceptance-corrected distributions, which are compared to a resonance model. The sensitivity of the data to the yield and production angular distribution of Δ (1232) and higher-lying baryon resonances is shown, and an improved parameterization is proposed. The extracted cross-sections are of special interest in the case of pp → pp η , since controversial data exist at 2.0GeV; we find \ensuremathσ=0.142±0.022 mb. Using the dielectron channels, the π0 and η Dalitz decay signals are reconstructed with yields fully consistent with the hadronic channels. The electron invariant masses and acceptance-corrected helicity angle distributions are found in good agreement with model predictions
GP-support by means of AGnES-practice assistants and the use of telecare devices in a sparsely populated region in Northern Germany – proof of concept
<p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p>In many rural regions in Germany, the proportion of the elderly population increases rapidly. Simultaneously, about one-third of the presently active GPs will retire until 2010. Often it is difficult to find successors for vacant GP-practices. These regions require innovative concepts to avoid the imminent shortage in primary health care.</p> <p>The AGnES-concept comprises the delegation of GP-home visits to qualified AGnES-practice assistants (AGnES: GP-supporting, community-based, e-health-assisted, systemic intervention). Main objectives were the assessment of the acceptance of the AGnES-concept by the participating GPs, patients, and AGnES-practice assistants, the kind of delegated tasks, and the feasibility of home telecare in a GP-practice.</p> <p>Methods</p> <p>In this paper, we report first results of the implementation of this concept in regular GP-practices, conducted November 2005 – March 2007 on the Island of Rügen, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Germany. This study was meant as a proof of concept.</p> <p>The GP delegated routine home-visits to qualified practice employees (here: registered nurses). Eligible patients were provided with telecare-devices to monitor disease-related physiological values.</p> <p>All delegated tasks, modules conducted and questionnaire responses were documented. The participating patients were asked for their acceptance based on standardized questionnaires. The GPs and AGnES-practice assistants were asked for their judgement about different project components, the quality of health care provision and the competences of the AGnES-practice assistants.</p> <p>Results</p> <p>550 home visits were conducted. 105 patients, two GPs and three AGnES-practice assistants (all registered nurses) participated in the project. 48 patients used telecare-devices to monitor health parameters. 87.4% of the patients accepted AGnES-care as comparable to common GP-care. In the course of the project, the GPs delegated an increasing number of both monitoring and interventional tasks to the AGnES-practice assistants. The GPs agreed that delegating tasks to a qualified practice assistant relieves them in their daily work.</p> <p>Conclusion</p> <p>A part of the GPs home visits can be delegated to AGnES-practice assistants to support GPs in regions with an imminent or already existing undersupply in primary care. The project triggered discussions among the institutions involved in the German healthcare system and supported a reconciliation of the respective competences of physicians and other medical professions.</p
