Local Protectionism and Regional Specialization: Evidence from China’s Industries
This paper uses a dynamic panel estimation method to investigate the determinants of regional specialization in China’s industries, paying particular attention to local protectionism. Less geographic concentration is found in industries where the past tax-plus-profit margins and the shares of state ownership are high, re- flecting stronger local government protection of these industries. The evidence also supports the scale-economies theory of regional specialization. Finally, the overall time trend of regional specialization of China’s industries is found to have reversed an early drop in the mid 1980s, and registered a significant increase in the later years.http://deepblue.lib.umich.edu/bitstream/2027.42/39951/3/wp565.pd

Radial Angular Momentum Transfer and Magnetic Barrier for Short-Type Gamma-Ray Burst Central Engine Activity
Soft extended emission (EE) following initial hard spikes up to 100 seconds
was observed with {\em Swift}/BAT for about half of short-type gamma-ray bursts
(SGRBs). This challenges the conversional central engine models of SGRBs, i.e.,
compact star merger models. In the framework of the black hole-neutron star
merger models, we study the roles of the radial angular momentum transfer in
the disk and the magnetic barrier around the black hole for the activity of
SGRB central engines. We show that the radial angular momentum transfer may
significantly prolong the lifetime of the accretion process and multiple
episodes may be switched by the magnetic barrier. Our numerical calculations
based on the models of the neutrino-dominated accretion flows suggest that the
disk mass is critical for producing the observed EE. In case of the mass being
, our model can reproduce the observed timescale and
luminosity of both the main and EE episodes in a reasonable parameter set. The
predicted luminosity of the EE component is lower than the observed EE with
about one order of magnitude and the timescale is shorter than 20 seconds if
the disk mass being . {\em Swift}/BAT-like instruments may
be not sensitive enough to detect the EE component in this case. We argue that
the EE component would be a probe for merger process and disk formation for

INVESTIGATING THE INFLUENCE OF AUTHORITARIAN LEADERSHIP AND SUPERVISOR SATISFACTION ON TURNOVER INTENTION: THE MODERATING ROLE OF EMPLOYEE UPBRINGING
Authoritarian leadership is prevalent in the Asian region, and previous research has found a positive correlation between authoritarian leadership and employees' intention to leave their jobs. However, there are employees in the workplace who can adapt to such supervisors. Therefore, we approach this study from the perspective of "fit theory" to explore whether employees with authoritarian family upbringing can match with authoritarian leadership. This study aims to investigate the impact of authoritarian leadership on employees' intention to leave, with supervisor satisfaction as the mediator and employees' authoritarian family upbringing as the moderator. A total of 232 valid questionnaires were collected in this study. The results revealed that the level of authoritarian family upbringing among employees has a moderating effect on the relationship between authoritarian leadership and supervisor satisfaction
