Towards a culture of learning: a European policy perspective
Two of the most important education and training policies developed (and still being developed) by the European Commission (EC) are those of the Validation of Non-formal and Informal Learning and a Learning Outcomes approach to the specification of learning. Both of these policies are intended to contribute to the achievement of a Lifelong Learning culture within the community. This short article is based upon a half-day training session delivered to officers of the EC (Brussels, October, 2008) and the follow-up summary paper
On anomalies and noncommutative geometry
I discuss examples where basic structures from Connes' noncommutative
geometry naturally arise in quantum field theory. The discussion is based on

Cooperatives a model to improve organic seed production (Liveseed Practice Abstract)
Building cooperatives sounds easier than it is. Some general recommendations are:
- Build trust – an on-going process
- Define clear goals – common aims, clear rules
- Have a clear timeline – go step by step
- Communicate clearly – among members, with customers – to maintain trust
- Have the same starting point: 100% organic seed as basic requirement for all members – same values, same attitude
- Gain legal advice for establishing a cooperative in your countr
Dynamic walking with Dribbel
This paper describes the design and construction of Dribbel, a passivity-based walking robot. Dribbel has been designed and built at the Control Engineering group of the University of Twente. This paper focuses on the practical side: the design approach, construction, electronics, and software design. After a short introduction of dynamic walking, the design process, starting with simulation, is discussed
