The shock-acoustic waves generated by earthquakes

We investigate the form and dynamics of shock-acoustic waves generated by earthquakes. We use the method for detecting and locating the sources of ionospheric impulsive disturbances, based on using data from a global network of receivers of the GPS navigation system and requiring no a priori information about the place and time of associated effects. The practical implementation of the method is illustrated by a case study of earthquake effects in Turkey (August 17, and November 12, 1999), in Southern Sumatera (June 4, 2000), and off the coast of Central America (January 13, 2001). It was found that in all instances the time period of the ionospheric response is 180-390 s, and the amplitude exceeds by a factor of two as a minimum the standard deviation of background fluctuations in total electron content in this range of periods under quiet and moderate geomagnetic conditions. The elevation of the wave vector varies through a range of 20-44 degree, and the phase velocity (1100-1300 m/s) approaches the sound velocity at the heights of the ionospheric F-region maximum. The calculated (by neglecting refraction corrections) location of the source roughly corresponds to the earthquake epicenter. Our data are consistent with the present views that shock-acoustic waves are caused by a piston-like movement of the Earth surface in the zone of an earthquake epicenter.Comment: EmTeX-386, 30 pages, 4 figures, 3 tabl

Purpose: The present paper is a study of the most well-known foreign and domestic methods for assessing the investment climate of the regions as well as identifying their main disadvantages. Methodology: The study of regional investment issues should be based on a systematic approach taking into account the positive and negative aspects of each methodology separately. Result: Opportunities to improve the competitiveness of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation are considered, too. The existing methods applied by various research-rating agencies are considered in detail. Applications: This research can be used for the universities, teachers and education students. Novelty/Originality: In this research, the model of comparative analysis of tools for estimation of the investment climate of territories is presented in a comprehensive and complete manner

State Procedures for Improving the Investment Climate in the Russian Federation: Prospects for Improvement

    Get PDF
The COVID-19 pandemic interrupted many trends that had developed before it and again updated the issue of modernizing the Russian economy, restarting the mechanisms of economic growth and sustainable socio-economic development. The key to resolving these issues is to increase the investment activity of the business. The investment climate is one of the key characteristics that testify to the freedom of entrepreneurial activity, the ease of opening and conducting business, the quality of regulatory procedures in the economy, the effectiveness of business entities, and the provision of equal opportunities for the development of the private sector. A favorable investment climate reveals the potential for the development of private companies. The article considers the system of state procedures in the field of improving the national investment climate, gives a brief description of the main tools and projects to improve the investment climate, analyses the changes in the main target indicators of investment attractiveness of the Russian Federation

The problem of reducing the barrier between the user and the computer appeared immediately, as there were computers, and remains relevant in the present time. This problem is formulated as the task of developing a user-friendly interface. One way of solving this problem is the use of graphical representation, which can really reduce the barrier between human and computer. In this series stands and algorithmic formalism networks intended to describe algorithmic models proposed by V.V. Iaanishchev about 30 years ago. Under algorithmic model refers to a formalized description of the scenario subject specialist for the simulated process, the structure of which is comparable with the structure of the causal and temporal relationships between phenomena simulated process, together with all information necessary for its software implementation. This article is devoted to the definition of isomorphous investment of the algorithmic networks and description of conversions for implementation, using principle to division vertices into classes. Also in this article presented and described approach end algorithm to identification of isomorphism algorithmic networks in detail and its using for base of algorithmic models

Characterization of a novel dioxomolybdenum complex by cyclic voltammetry

Metalloenzymes that carry a pterin-based molybdenum cofactor in their center catalyze numerous reactions in the human body and play a crucial role in its metabolism. Specifically, these enzymes promote redox reactions and oxygen transport in the body. Their absence may cause many problems leading to disability or even death in early childhood. Therefore, model compounds need to be synthesized and analyzed to investigate the reactivity, redox potential, and geometry of these cofactors. This study focused on electrode processes and determined the redox potentials of the new bis-(4-mercapto-5-(p-tolyl)-3H-1,2-dithiole-3-thione)-dioxomolybdenum complex by cyclic voltammetry. The 4-mercapto-5-(p-tolyl)-3H-1,2-dithiole-3-thione ligand underwent irreversible oxidation and reduction at thiol and thione functional groups. The new dioxomolybdenum complex showed a quasi-reversible two-stage electrode process

Influence of gas flow turbulence scale on heat exchange intensity in a long smooth pipe

It is known that the initial level of gas flow turbulence has a noticeable effect on the development and structure of the boundary layer and on the intensity of heat transfer, respectively. Many scientists have evaluated the influence of the flow turbulence number on the level of heat transfer for various applications, among them Dyban E.P., Kestin J., Simonich JC, Isomoto K., Dreitser G.A., Terekhov V.I., MacMullin R. and etc. In all cases, the turbulence of the flow led to the intensification of heat transfer. However, insufficient attention is paid to studies of the effect of turbulence on the heat transfer of flows in pipes. The studies were carried out on the basis of numerical modeling of gas dynamics and heat transfer of stationary flows based on the CFD method. The results of numerical modeling to assess the influence of the turbulence scale of gas flows on heat transfer in a long smooth pipe are presented in the article. It has been established that a growth in the heat transfer coefficient by about 3% occurs with an increase in the turbulence scale from 10 to 30% with a Reynolds number equal to 250,000. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.The work has been supported by the Russian Science Foundation (grant No. 18-79-10003)
